Part 2 of Season 4 of YOU is FINALLY put. I have no idea why on earth Netflix chose to split the show up but whatever.

Anyways......

I loved it!! They really committed to doing something different this season and I think it was the right choice. This season was a mix of a whodunnit/murder mystery as well as an unrelatable narrator aspect that culminates in a plot twist that was done very well despite being done before (think Fight Club and Mr Robot)

My favorite thing about this season was probably the repeated reminders that super rich people are absolutely garbage and almost entirely unreedemable - being part of the 1% makes you a garbage person. And yes that of course includes Kate Galvin who deludes herself into thinking that she's better than the rest of the group

Phoebe was the only rich person who showed any growth (even though she gets a huge side eye from me for even being friends with Gemma and Simon in the first place - btw I'm super glad that those 2 died). Her dating Adam was supremely ick but we got the hilarious side story of his Golden Shower fetish 😂. Roald sucked ass but turns out he was right after all lol, who woulda thunk it?

My heart is broken for Nadia and especially Eddie who didn't even know what he was getting roped into. Don't you hate it when characters can't mind their business and then they get endangered? Marienne beats the odds and becomes the only adult woman to get entangled with Joe and not die....congrats to her haha

And if course the biggest thing - murderous Rhys being "you know who" instead......girl I was shook!! Didn't see it coming at all

Easy A (2010)

Inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter and John Hughes’s filmography, Easy A takes familiar story elements and makes them its own. Thanks largely to the enormously charismatic Emma Stone, this teenage romantic comedy by Will Gluck offers a lot of laughs while slyly delivering an important message tailored for the modern era.

17-year-old Olive Penderghast (Stone) lies to her best friend Rhiannon (Aly Michalka) about her weekend. She says she lost her virginity to a college boy she went out with. When her story is overheard by the judgmental and prudish Marianne (Amanda Bynes), it spreads around school like wildfire.

Easy A is set in a fantasy world where Emma Stone and Penn Badgley are average teenagers - in fact, Olive says she wasn’t turning any heads before the big lie -, and parents are all delightfully quirky or weird. In its defense, it’s consistent all the way through, and as a high school fantasy, it’s delightful. We could’ve cast someone plainer than Emma Stone (and in recent years, we have, in films like Booksmart) but then we wouldn’t have seen her belting her lungs, singing along with a greeting card, and we wouldn’t have gotten Penn Badgley in a laughably bad woodchuck costume trying in vain to rally up his classmates. As Olive’s parents, Patricia Clarkson and Stanley Tucci are hilarious - you can see where their daughter got her wit from - and the other adults paint this picture of a high school where even when things get bad, they never become THAT bad… until Olive’s lie starts to get so big no one could handle it.

For the most part, Easy A is a light comedy. I wouldn’t say that any scene will have you falling out of your seat but you’ll chuckle a lot and that smile you start wearing just a few minutes in? It only goes away when the film starts to get a little heavier. When I say heavier, I mean heavier for a film that’s perfectly suited for high-schoolers and their slightly cool parents. Now branded as a harlot, Olive decides to use her reputation to help Brandon (Dan Byrd), a classmate who is bullied for being gay. While attending a party, they pretend to have sex. He’s congratulated by his former tormentors. Her reputation is tarnished a bit more… but it’s not like it was squeaky clean anymore, so what’s the harm? You can see how things will escalate from there but it still hurts to see Olive get bullied and endure heartbreaks. It doesn’t matter that a lot of it comes from her own doing because you so easily relate to her situation. Who hasn't wanted to be cool? How many of us lost track of ourselves while trying to be liked? It’s that, combined with that time in 2011 (so 1 year after this movie) when 17-year-old Gaby Rodriguez performed a social experiment at her school by pretending to be pregnant for six months.

If your grandma is a stick in the mud, you probably don’t want to show her this one, and the little kids would have a lot of questions afterward but for everyone else, there’s so much to like about Easy A that its flaws hardly matter. It’s funny and the right amount of insightful without being too heavy. As a bonus, it's got great re-watch value, which means you'll have plenty of opportunities to memorize the snappy dialogue by Bert V. Royal. (On Blu-ray, October 14, 2021)

I avoided this movie for over 10 years because my CPTSD is really closely linked to rumors/gossip and extreme bullying.

It makes me pretty heavy, but it also fun and clever and enjoyable.

But I've had those moments of teachers "who are they going to believe the troublemaker kid or the adult" too. Different situations but the similarity of being outcasted and treated like shit is not lost on me.

Trick or trivia

Happy Halloween! I do enjoy trivia of many types, but one of my favorite genres is what I call the Berenstein Timeline: unmade shows and movies, versions of classic movies where studios and producers made different decisions, some better, some much worse. All of these are real projects that were, on some level, considered (there are some recurring names)

"Heat Vision & Jack", a 90s pastiche of 70s-80s action shows starring Jack Black as an astronaut on the run from the law and Owen Wilson as his talking motorcycle

"Jurassic Park" directed by Tim Burton with Johnny Depp as Alan Grant, Jim Carrey as Ian Malcolm, and Vincent Price as John Hammond

the 90s "Batman" directed by Ivan Reitman; Bill Murray and Eddie Murphy were going to star but couldn't decide which of them would be Batman and which would be Robin

Back in the 1970s the American network was getting good numbers showing heavily-edited reruns of "Monty Python's Flying Circus", so they tried to sell the Pythons on the next logical step: an animated Saturday morning cartoon

"Edward Scissorhands" still directed by Burton but starring Tom Cruise or maybe Michael Jackson

"Return of the Jedi" directed by David Lynch; Harrison Ford was considering not coming back for the third movie and so when he came out of the carbonite there was a chance he would have been Christopher Walken

Guillermo del Toro's "At the Mountains of Madness". Also "the Hobbit" and lots of other things, he seems to have a lot of unmade projects

the 2010s "Star Trek" movie directed by Quentin Tarantino, where the edgy reboot crew visits the Gangster Planet from that one stupid episode of the original series

Everybody knows about the unmade "Superman Lives" starring Nicolas Cage in the title role, but did you know it was going to be directed by Tim Burton and include Christopher Walken as Brainiac, who would have been a green head on spider legs

Harold Ramis didn't particularly want to act on camera, so when they were casting "Ghostbusters" Egon could have been Christopher Walken, Christopher Lloyd, Jeff Goldblum, or John Lithgow. Supposedly the movie was originally intended to be a relatively serious exploration of Dan Akroyd's very real interest in paranormal investigation, although this clashes a bit with the fact that Peter Venkman was originally going to be played by John Belushi and Winston Zeddmore was written for Eddie Murphy who backed out when the character's backstory and most of his lines were cut

Not sure if this was asked before but I gotta know, especially now that we have Mal and Penn. How would the ROs react to an MC that occasionally steals and wears or otherwise enjoys their clothes? Where did Belladona's dress go? Oh MC is using it as a pillowcase to cuddle with when Bella is away on Baron business. Mal, have you seen Milo's lucky shirt? Well, it's extra lucky now cause Lamplight is wearing it and refuses to take it off.

On that note does Penn even have clothes or are their clothes more like a part of their manifestation? XD MC trying to steal their cloak/jacket only for it to disappear in a puff of smoke. Ooooooo, Penn finding out about that little quirk and purposefully making sure that particular article won't disappear.

Belladonna would be slightly offended. Her clothes are expensive and tailored to her. MC better not mess them up or there will be hell to pay.

Gabriel would secretly like it, but also be slightly irritated if it wound up that his shirts were not hung back up properly or he had no clean ones to wear before work.

Hazel would assume that the MC needed more clothes and immediately start making more.

Milo's kink is literally MC wearing his clothes, so we all know where that would lead.

Malcolm wouldn't mind and would find it cute but he would have way more of a thing to see MC wearing Milo's shirt.

And Penn would magic those clothes away "accidentally".

Penn essentially conjures up their clothes but at times, they do like to go shopping for something more.

Malcolm and Martin from Friends of the Formerly Friendless in Penn Valley, California

Malcolm is the brother of Martin. They are healthy, ACTIVE, and endlessly entertaining cats. We would prefer to have them adopted together.

Malcolm is quite a character. Of the two Bros, he is the most curious and mischievous. He is active and loves to romp with his brother, Martin. He does play with other unrelated active cats. He is affectionate with people he knows and loves attention.

Malcolm has been in an adult foster home so does not have any experience in a family setting with children or dogs. It is unclear how he would adjust to these new situations.

He is current on his FVRCP shot, combo tested negative for Feline AIDS and, leukemia and is neutered.

He enjoys a safe, enclosed outdoor space to explore.  Because of his activity level and familiarity with the enclosed outdoor experience, he would do best by having an ENCLOSED outdoor catio.

MARTIN although playful and active like his brother,  Malcolm, is the more laid back and shy of the two brothers. He is affectionate  with people he knows. Martin enjoys playing with his brother and chasing games.  The two brothers relate to other active cats as well. Martin enjoys time in the  safe, enclosed outdoor catio.

He has been raised in an adult only foster home. His initial   shyness may make adjusting to a family with children or dogs take a bit longer.  We would like to adopt Martin with his brother Malcolm. However, would consider  an adoption to home with other friendly cat his age. We will be monitoring how  he responds to separate time from his brother.
