Alec blushed as Magnus's fingers traced over his chest, over his runes. it was something his boyfriend did often, fingers brushing over skin like a pen to paper. 

He asked once why Magnus did it, why he was so obsessed with the silly markings. The warlock had only smiled to himself, leaving Alec confused.  

"Oh, fine." Magnus had said, leaning over to Alec. "I think they're worthy of a spot in a museum, is all."

Eyebrows lifted, Alec spoke. "What, like some kind of art?"

"No, my darling. You're the art. They're simply a part of what makes you, you."

It's so interesting and odd to me (not in a bad way) that my Thomastair fics consistently get significantly more hits and kudos than my Wessa ones do. I lowkey wonder why this is since I'm pretty sure that Wessa has wider popularity in the fandom. (I think more people have read TID than TLH, which is my main logic here in addition to Wessa constantly winning popularity polls).

I wonder if maybe Thomastair fandom is simply more active right now in a post-TLH world? Or maybe it's because we have less canon content and people enjoy reading fics to fill in the gaps? I also wonder if it's a sort of self-selection bias since I'm really active in the Thomastair fandom and most of my friends are in it. This is super interesting and requires further study.

🧠: Traumatic Event

Magnus struck out with a burst of searing blue fire. The demon that had dragged him under the water shrieked and released its grip on his ankle. Another streak of fire and it was dead.

He struggled to the surface. Breathe. Couldn’t breathe. He wasn’t under water any more, but he still couldn’t breathe.

“Magnus!”

“Magnus!”

Hands. Hands on his shoulders. Ground under him. He was sitting in the shallows gasping, and Alec was holding him.

“I’ve got you.” Alec told him. He hugged Magnus tightly and Magnus held on to him like he was an anchor. “You’re safe now.”

It's my favorite/least favorite writing month now, so here's an overly-ambitious list of things I would love to complete during nano :) last year I reached a true feral state of dissociated insanity by the end of November and I do hope to achieve that again!

The sheltered rich boy Dream & feral child Hob (though it's really not much about that anymore) fic that I've occasionally posted snippets of. This one has gotten... long.

"Ooh, Kinky", a fic about how Dream really likes when Hob does sweet things for him. [COMPLETED]

a very long, post-2022 slowburn getting together fic that I literally started last fall, and has 17k words but isn't finished -- I would really like to finally finally finish that.

At LEAST one of the non-dreamling ideas people sent me way back. I have so many and I ended up writing like... none of them. Oops.

chapter 3 of the melting press of the sun, a fic that wasn't supposed to be longer than one chapter. Hob helps Dream with his post-fishbowl dissociative episodes through the power of Friendship and Really Shitty Reality Television

the Shibari fic that I teased a month ago, wrote half of in one day, and then barely touched since 😂

chapter 3 of the better to see you with, my dear [the Spy Hob AU] which I've left on the back burner for a while now.

A mostly-completed segment of Silly Rabbit AU about various tales and connections Dream is spinning.

In Waking Dreams chapter 7, which is already partially complete.

There's also one or two projects that live at kind of the intersection of fanfic and original fic that have been bouncing around my head so those may come up as well ☺️

A very silly crack fic about Johanna accidentally kidnapping Dream and Hob's weird magical baby (goes about how you'd expect) [COMPLETED]

idea I got stuck in my head last night about Dream making sex Hob's reward for rescuing him as an intricate ritual to let Dream have some intimacy without having to admit that he wants it.

Happy TLND anniversary to those who celebrate! 

It’s been a year since I first published the very first chapter of this whirlwind of a story. 

I’m using this is an opportunity, to once again, thank every single one of the readers who supported me and cheered me on and loved these characters as much as I did. 

Thank you for trusting me with complex stories and encouraging me to write more of them. It means the world to me. It truly does. 

I hope this story touched you in the way it touched me. I hope it gave you strength and more than anything, I hope it gave you hope. 

Thank you for all the love and encouragement and positivity during the last year,  even after the fic was completed. 

Thank you for keeping these beautiful humans alive in your hearts. Thank you for making them immortal.

A short drabble, under the cut, inspired by the ‘What if’ @lifeofpatterns​ sent me a while ago. Thank you for the inspiration, love 🤍

“Magnus,” Alec, who is on his laptop, blinks in confusion when he literally storms through the door and pushes past poor Kadir. “Magnus. Is everything okay?”

“You ate the raisins,” Magnus whispers. 

Alec looks even more confused. “What?”

Oh god. Did they lie him? Is this a prank? Or is Magnus so desperate for Alec’s love that he hallucinated this whole thing?

“The raisins,” Magnus clarifies anyway - because he is nothing if not a hopeless fool, in love with one Alec Lightwood. “You like them. You eat them!”

“Uh,” Alec says. 

“Mr. Lightwood,” a man’s voice says as he awkwardly clears his throat. “Am I interrupting something?”

Alec looks back at the computer screen. He flushes slightly. “Um. No, Mr. President. Just a family matter.”

Oh. 

Oh shit. 

“About raisins?” The President of the United Freaking States asks Alec. “You eat that shit, son?”

“Hey!” Magnus snaps, because raisins might be bad but no one gets to judge Alec other than him. “Don’t talk to him like that!”

Alec slaps the laptop shut in horror. “Did you just snap at the fucking President?”

“What is he gonna do? Deport me? I’m a citizen,” Magnus rolls his eyes. 

“Magnus,” Alec sighs. 

“Why did you eat the raisins, Alec?” Magnus asks quietly. 

“How did you even…Fuck, I don’t….I don’t know, okay?” Alec sighs again. “I just know you don’t like them and I don’t want you to do things you don’t like. Even if it hurts me.”

Oh.

It’s such an Alec thing to say. He doesn’t know what else he expected Alec to say. 

“Raisins don’t hurt,” Magnus mumbles.

“Why don’t you eat one and see?” Alec asks. 

Magnus makes a face. 

Alec gives him a tiny smile. “It’s not a big deal, Magnus. Do you remember when Max was a baby, he was scared to eat watermelons because he thought he’d swallow on the seeds?”

Magnus smiles at the memory. “He thought the seed will grow inside his stomach and he’ll have a watermelon belly.”

Alec chuckles. “You used to eat the seeds first to make him feel better. It’s like that. I eat the raisins for you.”

“You didn’t have to do that,” Magnus mumbles. “I’m not a baby.”

There is a flash of sadness in Alec’s face. Perhaps even grief. But it’s gone in a flash. He manages a smile and looks away. “No. No, I suppose you’re not.”

Not anymore, he almost hears the other man say. 

And Magnus…Magnus is tired. 

He is tired of the every ‘almost’ and every ‘what if’ in his life. He is tired of wanting and never reaching. 

Magnus is many things. But he isn’t a coward. Not when it comes to love. 

Never. 

“What if I want to be?” Magnus asks then. 

Alec looks up at that. He chuckles. “You want to be a baby?”

Magnus swallows. “What if I want to be your baby?”

Alec’s lips part every so slightly in a soft inhale. Magnus wants to fold himself into tiny pieces so he can fit inside and stay there forever. 

Between Alec Lightwood’s lips. 

Alec doesn’t say anything though. His eyes are hauntingly blue, impossibly wide, and outrageously pretty. 

Magnus finds the courage he needs somewhere between all the blue and beauty of this man. 

“What if I want that?” Magnus asks, his voice firmer now. “What if I want to be your baby again, Alec?”

Alec lets out the breath he was holding. Magnus thinks it goes straight into his chest. 

He holds it there. For now. 

Maybe forever. 

“Well, that’s silly,” Alec clicks his tongue and the breath almost gets knocked out his chest. 

Oh. 

“Is it?” Magnus manages to ask. 

“Hm-hm,” Alec nods. 

“Why?” Magnus wants to know. 

“Because you never stopped being my baby,” Alec replies, his blue eyes now soft and heartbreakingly honest. 

“Oh,” Magnus says. 

“Yeah,” Alec says. 

There is a moment of silence where neither of them talks or moves. Magnus hesitates. He waits. 

Alec seems to be waiting too. 

Alec doesn’t wait. Alec has always made the first move in their relationship. Always.

Perhaps he doesn’t have to anymore. 

Magnus wants to make a move. He wants to make history. 

He steps forward. Towards Alec. He eyes the laptop in concern. “You don’t have to call back the President, do you?”

Alec slowly pushes the laptop off the table. It lands on the marble floor with a thud, the sounding sending goosebumps up Magnus’ back. “What President?”

Magnus puts a hand on Alec’s chest. He feels something there. 

Not just his heart. Something more important. 

A warm piece of metal. 

He leans closer and Alec’s eyes flutter shut. His heart does the same. “Magnus.”

Magnus pulls back. 

Alec opens his eyes and they’re still blue. But it’s now the colour of the midnight ocean. Magnus wants to swim. He wants to dive. 

He wants to drown. 

“If we…if this means….does it…” Magnus stumbles for the words. Alec waits. He looks so patient, maybe even a little reverent. As if he knows this is important.  Magnus doesn’t know what he was going to ask or what he should even say in this moment. So, he blurts out the first thing that does come to his mind. “Will you always eat the raisins for me?”

It sounds silly. But Alec doesn’t seem to think so. He simply nods. 

“Always,” he replies without hesitation. 

“Even if we never…Even if it doesn’t…?” Magnus asks, not wanting to say it out loud. 

“Even if we never get back together?” Alec asks, once again, chewing what Magnus can’t seem to swallow. “Even if it doesn’t work out?”

Magnus nods. His hand still on Alec’s chest. 

“Even then,” Alec whispers, pressing Magnus’ hand further into his own chest until Magnus feels the imprint of the wedding ring on the center his palm.

Oh. 

Oh.

“Till death do us part,” Alec reminds him. “I made an oath in front of God, baby. I intend to keep it.”

Alright then, Magnus thinks. 

Till death do us part it is.

Sweeter than Sweet -A Malec birthday drabble

Because it is my birthday today and I'm very self indulgent🥳

“What are you doing?” Magnus asked, trying to make sense of what was happening in front of him.

He had been away on a job, helping some old friends by opening a Portal to London for them. The call had come in very last minute and he left as soon as Alec had come back from the Institute because they couldn’t leave Max alone.

What he didn’t expect to see when he came back home was his boyfriend with his hair covered in what seemed like flour, sitting in front of the oven looking at it as if it held all the greatest secrets of the universe. The kitchen was a mess with utensils all over it as well as a countertop full of flour. Magnus took a deep breath and a sweet scent of vanilla filled the air and that is when he realized that Alec was baking something. Judging by some raw dough that was filling up their trash can, it seemed like it wasn’t his first attempt at it either.

When hearing Magnus’s voice, Alec looked up with wide eyes. “Oh, I didn’t expect you to be home so soon,” he simply said, standing up and brushing something that looked like whipped cream off his black sweatshirt.

“It’s almost midnight,” the warlock said and Alec seemed surprised to get that information and checked his watch to double check. Magnus looked around the apartment again before narrowing his eyes. “I am guessing Max is asleep?”

Alex nodded, then walked around a kitchen, moving a few things around the counter in an attempt to make it seem tidier. “Yes. I thought I would use the chance since you were out and get some stuff ready for the party.”

“The party?” Magnus asked, not knowing exactly what the Shadowhunter was on about. He also could not remember the last time Alec organized a party without Magnus being involved in the planning.

“Yes,” Alec said, then finally walked towards his boyfriend to give him a chaste welcome kiss. “It was supposed to be a surprise but you caught me in the act now.” Then, when Magnus kept looking confused, he narrowed his eyes at him. “You do know what tomorrow is, don’t you?” Alec asked.

Magnus thought about it for a moment, coming up blank. “Um, Wednesday? I know you like Wednesdays but I didn’t think we were throwing a party-”

“Your birthday.”

For a moment there, Magnus wanted to laugh because he thought that might have been a joke. He surely remembered his own birthday and that was December 8th, which was...only mere minutes away.

He had forgotten his own birthday for the first time in 400 years.

You couldn’t really blame him with everything that had been going on that year. Finding Max and then everything that happened with Ragnor and Shinyun and Magnus almost becoming Samael’s slave... His mind was so overwhelmed by all those events that something as mundane as a birthday slipped his mind.

But not Alec’s mind apparently, as his boyfriend was hard at work trying his best to bake a cake. It made Magnus’s heart beat just that little bit faster.

“I can’t believe I forgot,” he muttered, sitting down on a stool in the kitchen, putting his head in his hands.

Alec sat down on the stool next to him, an arm around his waist. “Hey, it comes with age, I suppose,” he joked, but when he saw Magnus didn’t crack a smile, he cleared his throat. “You forgot because you are always so busy thinking of others that you forgot to think about yourself. Lucky you, you have me now to help you do that.”

“How do you always know what to say?” Magnus said, sighing dramatically before leaning over and placing a kiss on Alec’s lips. He put his hands on his boyfriend’s face, gently caressing his cheek. He’d only been with his boyfriend for two years now and yet in those two years this man had grown to know him better than anyone else.

Before he could say anything else, Alec jumped off the stool, looking focused. “Anyway, I better check on that cake,” he said, heading back towards the oven.

“Why not just buy me a cake? That’s what you did last year.”

“Because this year I had the time to do it. And I’ve heard they taste better when you make it yourself,” Alec replied, crouching down to check on the oven again before straightening back up. “I put my secret ingredient in it. Extra love.”

Magnus wanted to roll his eyes at that comment because it was so corny, but he felt butterflies in his stomach instead and he found himself smiling like a teenager. “I am sure the staff at Cakes and Co. put lots of love in their cakes,” he said, walking up behind Alec and putting his arms around him.

Alec turned around in his embrace and leaned his forehead against Magnus’s, a small smile spreading on his lips. “But no love they put in it will ever be as strong as the love I have for you.”

At that, Magnus actually groaned, burying his face in Alec’s neck. “When did you become so cheesy?”

“Having a kid changes a man, I suppose.” As if on cue, they heard Max’s voice coming from the bedroom calling out for both of them. Alec sighed as he let go of Magnus and wiped his black clothes clean as well as he could. “I better go check on him,” he said.

However, Magnus put a hand on his arm to stop him. “Hey, you’re a baker hard at work. I will go, I need to tell him hello after coming back anyway,” the warlock said, reluctantly stepping out of his partner’s embrace.

However, before he could get very far, Alec pulled him back and gave him one more passionate kiss. “Happy birthday, my love,” he said softly and Magnus checked the clock they had on the kitchen wall just to confirm that it had indeed just struck midnight.

Luckily, Alec’s last attempt at the cake was successful and Magnus thought that that specific birthday cake was better than anything any money could buy or any magic could summon.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes, but sometimes I get miserably behind and then have to catch up all at once. But I cherish every one and I do enjoy interacting with readers

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Um, I'm not much for angst, but I guess Stay With Me. It's SPN/Leverage, and deals with Dean's demon deal

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably Never Sees It Coming (Stargate Atlantis)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not really, which I appreciate.

9. Do you write smut?

Not at all. I write a lot of spankings though, so different kink

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I love writing crossovers, and most of my fics have at least two fandoms involved. That said, the craziest one is absolutely Curse You, Steve the Seal, which is a crack drabble crossing Hawaii Five-0 with Phineas and Ferb (last time I ever ask for a fanfic prompt from someone who doesn't actually read/write fanfics.) But a close second would be Merry Christmas to All, and to All a Sore Butt, which I just finished. Leverage/White Collar/9-1-1/9-1-1 Lone Star, and an AU of two of my preexisting AUs. That was a wild ride.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Don't think so, though that would be cool.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Not fanfic, no. I do have one series posted with a co-creator, but I am still waiting for said co-creator to actually co-create something instead of just throwing more prompts at me lol

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

Not sure? I have ships I like, ships I don't like, but I don't know. Favorite to watch is probably Tarlos and Malec (helps that they're canon lol). Favorites to write would be Eliot/Quinn/Neal and John/Evan/Cam ( I love the polyamory lol)

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Um. All the ones that I'm spending thought on, I probably will manage to finish? Otherwise I probably don't care about them enough at the moment to notice if I don't?

16. What are your writing strengths?

I love dialogue. It's so fun to just see what the hell the characters are gonna say/do next

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Description and action. I can't actually picture anything in my head, so I find myself baffled that people might actually care about what the setting looks like/what's going on

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I won't do it, because I don't speak another language well enough and I don't trust Google translate, but if need be I'll probably pull a "she said in this language." When people do put other languages in dialogue I get frustrated that I can't read it, but I also understand that that's what it's like for the characters, too, so fair enough

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Supernatural and Leverage (so many crossovers you guys)

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

I don't even know, I love all of them. At the moment, though, I've got a fondness for both Goodnight Moon and the follow-up Goodnight Nobody. They're Bucky-TJ fics that are just kinda cute and feelsy.

Yes, whenever its a comment that makes sense to respond too anyways. 6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Oh shit uh.... prooobably Day 23: Back to Black? since I killed off my favourite character. I have a few with pretty angsty endings though. 7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Honestly most of my fics have a happy ending but maybe Day 3: Honeybee

8. Do you get hate on fics? No actually? Ive never received hate or negative comments anywhere. I keep waiting for it though as Ive written some dark stuff...

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind? Heck yes I do, ranging from loving, to hate sex, to unrequited love and even non-con. A range of kinks and level of detail.

13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before? I have not, but I wouldn't be opposed to it with the write partner. 14. What's your all-time favourite ship? Man this is a hard one as I have a lot that hold a special place in my heart. I would say either Sihtric/Finan from The Last Kingdom or Paul/Duncan from Dune. (honourable mentions, Obikin, Malec, Sterek, Jacemond, Jacegan, Kurbastian) 15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? I have several which are just an idea on a list which I'm not sure I will ever actually start but as for stories Ive started writing and publish probably We Daren't Go a-Hunting for Fear of Little Men. I have a ton of stuff outlined and written for this, lots of lore and world building but I have no drive to work on it anymore. I hope to one day finish it as I love the world I created for this one.

16. What are your writing strengths? I get a lot of compliments on my characterizations, which I am really, really proud of as that was one of the reasons it took me so long to start writing fanfiction.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Being descriptive. I tend to do a lot of "telling" instead of "showing" when I write but is something that I'm working on and since I have less then 2 years under my belt I am trying to be forgiving to myself.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? Ive done it before and I don't mind it in small amounts. 19. First fandom you wrote for? Dune! The Dune 2021 movie opened the gates for me in a huge way. I joined my first discord server, started writing, got back into art in a serious/consistent way and I am just so happy.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written? This is another hard one as Ive loved quite a few of my works Dune: At the Touch of You The Last Kingdom: The Sharpest Lives House of the Dragon: Flesh of the Dragon

Whoosh, thump.

Whoosh, thump.

Alec let his arrows fly, striking the practice dummies across the room. It was the same old same old, drawing his bow and letting the arrows soar one after the other, each one hitting exactly where they needed to be on the targets.

He drew his bow back again, reloading and aiming for the eye of the dummy, when a noise broke him from his concentration.

"Alec, darling!" came a familiar voice from the doorway.

He turned to see Magnus standing there. "What are you doing here?" he asked.

Magnus smiled. "I missed you!”
