pardon me butting in on an almost year old post but thought: because you mention the dha werda verda it made me think of this phrase being older or more archaic in nature, from the days where mando'ade did worship gods and such. prudii seems like it might be a little bit of a more Modern word
so alternatively it could be werda bal rang? to tie it more closely to the theological sort of writing or tradition of the dha werda verda
maybe it changes contextually depending on how serious you want to get too?
prudii bal rang
Lit. shadow and ash
The meaning is "(not even) (with) the help of gods". From the epic Dha Werda Verda that recounts the battle between the Taung and Battalions of Zhell, where a massive volcanic eruption turned the Taung's last stand into a victory and was consequently seen as a (sign of) help from gods.
Prudii bal rang! For heaven's sake! Ti prudii bal rang. Gods willing (lit. with shadow and ash, figuratively “with help from the gods”). With a lot of luck. Ne ti prudii bal rang. Not a snowball's chance in hell (lit. not with shadow and ash, figuratively “not even with the help of the gods”).

It’s kind of funny that, for a series about fighting an evil empire, The Mandalorian is the first Star Wars story I’ve experienced that actually focuses on the problems of Imperialism.

No offense to you or any blog really but I realized something with others in my groupchat whenever you, lucky, mandoblog and others like you all post stuff like this you get the barest minimum of likes right and I know you guys have alot of followers, but you guys only get like maybe 5 to 7 likes when you post gossip stuff that means the majority of your followers don't give a shit about what you guys are posting or they see it and like me laugh at your posts, I just always wondered if you guys realized that.
Lmao… thank you for telling me how unloved I am.

four and a half hours later, i have finished 'republic commando: hard contact' for the first time.
inchresting tidbits. not my usual speed but overall enjoyable. definitely made me coil up sometimes with tension of 'oh god what's gonna happen next on this shitheel OP' lmfao. some thoughts and highlights below.
highlight (or. lowlight? kal what are you on about): kal apparently calling jango a sociopath as a weird way of telling his boys about fear.
also a highlight:
i am Thrilled by the framing of mandalore as a dead empire. 'museum-piece uniform' like they are already a dead people, that there are people like hokan seemingly grasping at a glory mandalorians haven't had in *four thousand years*. love the brief implication of long history.
also i am choosing to interpret this as a kotor reference so i'm Inhaling it of course.
people talk about kal feeding his lads uj cake but i rarely see people talk about kal being like "read this childrens book about what it means to be mando". Also, despite never physically appearing in this book, Kal sure is mentioned fucking EVERYWHERE. KT we know who your favorite guy is. to be fair he is also my favorite guy. love how his spectre haunts this book. the three skirata trained lads are thinking about him constantly.
I'm not screenshotting all the truly horrendeous bits about how the clones were treated on kamino. but holy shit. there's a bit where Niner talks about one of his squadmates *blowing his own head off* in a training exercise. others talking about live fire at the equivalent of Eight. droids hovering around them even while they're eating and 'correcting behavior' intensively enough no one ejver disobeyed for fear of the droids.
god what the fuck. can't wait to read Triple Zero.
(PS. darman and etain's whole thing is still weird. i don't Wike it.)

hot take: the mand'alor as leader of a sector makes mandalore a theocracy
@yourlordship told me to post this for some Spice
i say theocracy because, despite mand'alor being commonly translated as 'sole ruler', the technically more accurate translation is "soul ruler", as manda refers to Spirit or Soul

The Righteous, Chapter 8: "Whoops!"
>>Read on AO3!
>>Read Chapter 1!
Excerpt:
“I’m telling you, Jango, Ord Mantell is gonna take Alderaan in the semi-finals like they did last year-” “Last year Ord Mantell had J’nee Wilks, and he’s moved to Kubindi. There’s no way they’ll take the Cup this year-” “Well Alderaan won’t beat Kubindi then-”
The bell attached to the front door jingled softly, and the boy’s mouths snapped shut as they were suddenly on high alert. In the door was a familiar figure in Protector green.
A Year late, we have an update!!! Trying to get back on track after some very stressful couple months. As usual @glimjack has been a wonderful help both writing and editing.

hi bo! bit off topic maybe but you mentioned tarran being prince regent, i was wondering how you think mandalore’s government works (as a system). i’m doing a fair bit of worldbuilding and the politics are a huge “wtf am i looking at” to me. so far looking at the wiki hasn’t helped me much..
there's a lot of moving pieces and complicated bits because of the meshing of legends and canon so i don't blame you for struggling with it! tbh most of my thoughts are entirely headcanon by trying to make these bits and bobs work.
essentially it seems to me that the Duke/Duchess of mandalore has the highest amount of power int he sector, being that they have authority over the 'homeworld'. (gets complicated if you put a mand'alor in the mix whoops). a lot of the other rulers seem to have a LOT of leeway and independence though as the duchy (of satine's day) doesn't maintain an army or have like. governing offices off planet.
the rules of other planets seem to have other noble titles or similar (Countess Wren of krownest for example, pre being Governor of concordia). we don't know exactly who rules kalevala, but in TCW, we do see Tal Merrik, who is both Mandalore's senator and 'a prince of kalevala'. he probably was a distant cousin of satine's or something, since the kryzes are canonically From kalevala, but like. you can't be both the duke of mandalore and prince / princess regent of kalevala if that makes sense.
idk if that helps but that's sort of my thinking behind the prince regent title. Taraan would keep that title until inheriting the duchy, though a governor would do most of the day to day ruling.
