So a friend showed me ‘Countdowns’ by Sleeping at Last. With a song that beautifully sad, how could I resist a Mandalorian translation? I changed a bit of the phrasing to fit more with a Mandalorian view at some points, but overall I’m fairly satisfied with this. I didn’t even have to go through and edit syllables. Feel free to poke me for a translation ^^

brushguard the problem with using Mando’a as a tagging system is what the fuck are animals

if it has legs it’s a strill if it has wings it’s a birb because if I use senaar I’ll get confused, if it’s a fish... FISH IS ‘GI’ OKAY? WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO WITH ‘GI’? And lizards are either sneks or bes’uliik. Literally the only good Mando tag is ‘strill’. And don’t get me started on the ship names.

Mandos Have Died For Less  (a crack short for brushguard)

“Gar aruetii!” shouts a very short Mandalorian, chasing their taller counterpart around the bar. “Gar osik’la shabuir!”

“It was one fic!” yells the Mandalorian in white, vaulting over the counter to avoid being hit with a flying slab of uj’alayi. The cake sails across the conveniently empty bar and sticks to the wall with a sickening smack. “How much syrup did you put in that thing?!”

“Enough!” The Mando in blue, Cayden, tumbles over the counter in pursuit of the traitorous other. “Enough to shut your mouth! Gar hutuun’yc n’bur’cye-”

“I said I was sorry!” Another piece of uj cake flies inches from her visor. “It was one fic! I’m like 70% of the shab’la rowboat, I don’t understand-”

“MANDOS HAVE DIED FOR LESS!” Cayden hollers, finally managing to tackle their fleeing opponent. “AND NOW I CAN STEAL YOUR KIT AND MAKE IT MINE”

And that was how Cayden got their kit. The end.
