Thought I'd tell you a bit more about my upcoming zine! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As you must know already, it's called Manners of Consideration and this first issue is under the theme "Hope with a bit of doom". ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm now working on publishing it in digital and print form. I might have to redo the whole last spread since I used someone else's photo as reference for a painting and they haven't answered if it was ok for me to publish that piece yet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On a more technical note, the zine is a very small magazine, this one will have 24 pages that were very carefully birthed with the sweat and tears from this artist [since it's hope with a bit of doom, thought I'd be a little more dramatic]. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The artworks are mainly paintings, photos, film photos and collages. As for the writing, there's an introduction, a main article about the theme and a few other smaller articles.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ All the artwork, all the writing and all the designing were made by me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I think it's designed in a fairly simple and minimalist way [at least I like to think that!]⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I really can't wait to see what you'll think of it [even if I'm a bit scared with the chance that you might not like it, but that's a good thing, doubt keeps you aware.]⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . . Since Manners of Consideration is my zine, I really had to include something that I really love [and have been neglecting a lot]. I had to include film photography.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love shooting film. I love developing film. I love scanning film [most times!]. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's a medium that really makes me concentrate on the process rather than the result. When you can get your photographs instantly and easily, you kind of forget what it takes to get to them or makes you even stop enjoying the marvels of imperfection. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I almost lost my love for photography, film was what made me focus on what it felt like when I started shooting [I started with film] and slowly rebuilt my love for it. I have used film to deal with the hardest moments of my life because it really makes me focus on what I'm doing and takes me to this world I am so curious about and want to find out more of. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I still have a few rolls of film to develop. They're in my fridge. I took them about 3 years ago to help me deal with the loss of my grandma but I haven't gathered up thee courage to develop them yet. [One of them is colour and I don't have the chemicals to develop it yet, I'm taking donations in that area!] ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm hoping I can develop them soon and find something I can share with you in the next Manners of Consideration isuues. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Meanwhile, you can get the first issue of Manners of Consideration at Amazon, in digital and print. Sometimes, things have a meaning. Other times, things don't have any meaning at all! The flowers on the cover of my zine, Manners of Consideration, do have a meaning. These are snowdrops, they appear at the end of Winter to give you hope that the brighter days of Spring are soon to come. It's something very symbolic and really representative of "doom with a bit of hope" in this case. [Hope with a bit of doom is the theme for this issue]. Although I really love winter, seeing the first blossoms is really something that brings in a bit more light in my life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I don't really have snowdrops where I am since there is no snow, but I thought it was very representative of hope. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The theme for the next issue of Manners of Consideration will be something along the lines of "Nothing is forever". I still haven't decided if that's the final title. Do you have any suggestions for a title along those lines? And what should the cover art be like? I'm taking suggestions that help me brainstorm about it. This is the first sketch from what I consider the main painting from the first issue of Manners of Consideration [my magazine, I keep saying the name so that it become imprinted in people's subconscious *insert evil laugh*]. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I wanted to find a way to associate my thoughts to my art but I didn't want to do it in a conventional way [imagine a sunset with an Einstein quote], so I just created a magazine for it... simple and logical *cringe*. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I know I'm always talking about this but I really need to, firstly because I'm really proud of it and secondly because I wanted it to reach more people and the only way to do that is to talk about it. I made a whole magazine all by myself and I really think that's fantastic!
