1. Are you named after anyone? Rachel from the Bible. My parents compared their love for me to Jacob’s, who was willing to work 14 years for her. 

2. When was the last time you cried? Aww, don’t call me out like that. I don’t know specifically, but probably sometime within the past few weeks. I feel very deeply. 

3. Do you want kids? Absolutely. I not only want to have my own, but I am 100% going to adopt as well. 

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?  From time to time. It’s mostly with my brothers though.

5. What’s the first thing you notice about people? Hmm...I would say their demeanor. I typically gauge the mood of a person first. I imagine that’s normal though.

6. What’s your eye color? Brown. 

7. Scary movie or happy ending? I don’t care for scary movies. I don’t like to put myself through unnecessary panic, lol. But most aren’t even scary these days. I feel like their goal is just to see what off the wall thing they can possess next. And of course, I enjoy a happy ending, but not a corny or predictable one. That’s just as bad.  

8. Any special talents? The only thing that comes to mind is that I can burp on command. It’s useless and I never do it, but who knows, maybe one day in the future I’ll need it. 

9. Where were you born? Upstate New York. 

10. What are your hobbies? Creating, reading, watching and writing stories. Also starting to learn a new language, but then getting distracted and never finishing. :/ Also eating. 

11. Do you have any pets? No, unfortunately! But mark my words, before my twenties are up, I will have a great dane. Probably a cat too. 

12. What sports do you play/have you played? I used to play soccer and basketball, but that feels like ages ago. Currently, I rollerskate, which isn’t really a sport, but it’s all I’ve got to share, lol. Oh, I also daydream about being a fantastic ice skater. I would try to make it a reality, but it was hard enough getting rollerskating down. 

13. How tall are you? 5′6!

14. Favorite subject in school? A tie between English and Science. 

15. Dream career? This has changed since the last time, but a Creative Director. I want to write, produce and direct movies/tv shows that portray black women in a God-fearing light. Seeing the garbage on tv that promotes selfishness, lust, gossiping, anger, hatred and so on in our community ignites a flame in me that wants to showcase the opposite.

Favorite band/artist: I love love love Kari Jobe. Bob Marley is a strong second. 

Song stuck in my head: Genesis - Hold on my Heart. It’s been playing a lot on the radio at work.

Last movie I saw: An old Chinese movie called Little Dragon Maiden! It probably wasn’t meant to be as humorous as it was to me, but I had a good laugh.

Last thing I googled: It’s actually relatively normal this time. As a writer, it’s usually something off the wall, but this time it’s “What is a nematode?” And yes, I did recently see that episode of Spongebob.

Other blogs: I have another, but it’s not to be followed. I find that when others follow me I’m less likely to share because my focus can shift to what people think about me.

Why did I choose this username: I’m going to be perfectly honest here. I wanted something different from my previous tumblr name and the only criteria was that it sounded cool. I don’t know how Bourbon Bohemian came about, but I’m assuming I just took two words that flowed well together. In hindsight, I probably give off the impression that I’m a wandering drinker... *regrets*

Average amount of sleep: Let’s see, I try to go to sleep at 11 so...seven hours?

What am I wearing: My work clothes which consist of a black shirt, black pants, and black shoes. I’m also wearing pink socks because why not. 

Dream job: I suppose to be a creative director of television shows, and any other medium which I can write a story for.

Dream trip: At the moment, the only place I really want to go is The Holy Land.

Favorite food: It’s odd, but I don’t know anymore. It used to be Mac & cheese, but I haven’t had any good mac & cheese in a long time. Maybe caramel. I can voluntarily live off of caramel for probably a week. Probably.

Play any instruments: I used to play the trumpet in elementary, but like a child, my interest faded after a good year or two. I really want to learn the piano though.

Eyes color: Brown.

Hair color: Also, brown.

Describe yourself in aesthetic things: I’m not too sure what’s expected of me here, so I’m just going to go on as though the “aesthetic” part wasn’t there. So my answer is a bowl of candy, a pencil, fireflies, a stuffed animal, a poster of Deku (and Mirio), and a cross necklace. None of these items I own besides the pencil and stuffed animal, but those things just felt right. 

Languages you speak: English. I’m loosely learning French.

Most iconic song: I’m not sure. Pass!

Random fact: I have diabetes. But I believe my God is still in the healing business, so I’m becoming my active in growing my faith to the point where He can do so! ^_^

OPEN HEAVENS FELLOWSHIP DAILY DEVOTION

MAN OF PURPOSE PT.1

Ephesians 5:25-26 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.

Last week, many people were blessed when we started the series on the Virtuous Woman. A lot of males were very excited because the devotion seemed to focus on the woman. But today we turn our focus by the Spirit to the man. The place of a man or a husband and the responsibility that comes with it is no joke. And it is important for every male to take their lives seriously and for every female to properly and carefully decide who they want to be with. Unless you want to live by your own standards or by the standards of the world, the standard of the Word, which is truth is that the wife must be submitted to the husband. The Bible says Colossians 3:18

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

Submission means to be obedient and to accept the authority and control of someone else. Even if you don't like it, that's what the Word of God says. The Word says that the wife must be submitted; in other words obedient to and accept the authority and control of her husband. It matters whose control and authority you are under to. You can imagine being under the control of someone who isn't born again and doesn't have the nature of God; or someone who isn't filled with the Spirit or someone who doesn't live by the Word and doesn't fellowship with the Holy Spirit. You've already signed up for trouble. As 'frustrating' as working under an unreasonable boss is; being married to a purposeless man can be very traumatizing. As a woman, you have a responsibility over your unborn children to choose the right father for them. That means you need to grow out of that carnal mentality of just being dazzled by external features and transient feelings and make decisions based on the solid Word of God.

As a man, you have a "Christly" responsibility over your wife and over your whole family. The same Lordship and responsibility that the Father has given Jesus Christ over the Church is the same responsibility He has given you over your wife and your family. That responsibility is enormous compared to the wife submitting to her husband. You must be purposeful, diligent, responsible, sacrificial, filled the Word and the Spirit and above all be an embodiment of the exact love of Christ as is shown in the opening verse.

You have no right to take upon yourself a woman when you are not set on course in divine purpose. You may not have completely discovered your exact purpose but at least you should be on course to fulfilling it. Meaning, you must be born again, be filled with the Spirit and be on a steady and strict diet of the Word. Remember the primary purpose of the wife; the primary reason why God made woman: to be a help meet for a man who had been given and was found in divine purpose. Until you are clear about divine purpose, you're not ready for a help meet. It's the same for a woman: you have no business joining the chariot of a man who is not conscious about divine purpose. You can't be a help meet for someone with no clear purpose in life.

To be called a man or a husband is a responsibility. It is not for jokers. It is for people who have been trained and brought up in the Word to command authority with love. It for those who are filled with the Word enough to be a source of life to their wife and family. It is for those who command physical and spiritual authority over their own lives and homes. A man; a man of purpose is the Christ-man; full of the Spirit; full of love; full of grace; full of power and full of passion for God, for his wife and for his family. Are you a man?

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for this grace and responsibility of being a man and a husband. It is only by Your grace that I can be who you expect me to be. By the supply of Your Spirit I am a man of purpose in the Name of Jesus.
