The gravity in a black hole is strong that even light can’t escape it.. Every giant ends up a black hole, collapsing into itself.. Nothing escapes.. as dark times remind you of your darkest memories, the ones we can never forget! Hi everyone! How are you all? I haven’t been able to check in for a while. Nah, nothing unlucky happened to me on Friday the 13th 😝. On the brighter side I was so glad to be greeted with many new posts today. Starting the week right! I missed you all. - - Instead of the usual excuses and apologies, here is me waving enthusiastically at you with a new book review. I was skeptical about Many Joseph’s latest novel, Miss Laila, Armed and Dangerous because of its size. But I am thrilled to say that it did not disappoint. I enjoyed the read. - - Told through parallel story lines and set in contemporary India, the novel has Joseph’s characteristic wicked humour and sarcasm. It pokes fun at many eminent Indian personalities as well as at the hypocrisy of Indians and the battle between the conservatives and liberals. As expected, the author makes fun of both the sides. But this is definitely not a book to be missed. 4.5⭐️ #thebooksatchelreviews - - Link in bio for a lengthier review about various aspects of the novel. Let me know if you agree or disagree. Or if the book is on your TBR. - - In other news, how was your weekend? . . . #manujoseph #misslaila #indianbooks #indianwriters

Evaded this man's writing for a while. He might be the first writer whose interviews and newspaper columns came my way first. Found this one stacked among tonnes of multilingual seconds at a local library that doesn't charge you but, encourages you to pick up one only after keeping one in its place. Fun game, no? :) I didn't have a book with me at the time to keep but, the cute guy in charge asked me to keep it, just because I asked. 😇 Promised him to get it back once I'm done - if I like this one, I've decided which one I would keep in its place there too. ----- #bookstagram #bibliophile #books #manujoseph #seriousmen #reading #book #serendipity #library #bookworm #writer #writing #india #goa

Hey guys! How are you all? I haven’t been able to check in for a while. No, nothing unlucky happened on Friday the 13th. 😝I am so glad to be greeted with so many new posts (ignoring the Instagram algorithm for some positivity) today. Starting the week the right way! - - Instead of the usual excuses and apologies, here is me waving enthusiastically at you with a new book review. I was in two minds about Manu Joseph’s new book, Miss. Laila, Armed and Dangerous when I saw it was a short book. But I am thrilled to say that I enjoyed the read. Thanks for sending me a copy, @harpercollinsin . - - Told through two parallel storylines with Joseph’s characteristic wicked humour and sarcasm, the novel is set in contemporary India. The novel pokes fun at many eminent personalities of Indian politics as well as laughs at the hypocrisy of Indians and the battle between the conservatives and liberals. Needless to say, Joseph offends every side with his new novel. But still this is a brilliant book. 4.5⭐️ #thebooksatchelreviews - - Link in bio for a longer review that looks at the various aspects of the novel. Let me know if you agree or disagree. Or if this book is on your TBR. - - In other news, did you have a good weekend? . . . #manujoseph #misslaila #booknerd

My new past time is trying to locate my notebooks and other stuff that I hid in various places when the family came visiting. Yes I know hiding isn’t the same as tidying up and shouldn’t be encouraged 😂. Talking about missing pencils (see previous post), I found one of them in the form of a loud scream when the husband flopped on to the bed and got pricked (he might say ‘stabbed’ not ‘pricked’ is the word to be used). - - Here are three of my favourite Indian authors. I love Anita Desai and Arundhati Roy for how authentic the Indian-ness echoes in their craft and Manu Joseph for his wit and sarcasm of the Indian society. (Yes! You guessed it right. This is a draft that the muddle head that I am forgot to post in the Diwali week 😆). - - Have you read books set in India or by Indian authors? Tell me your favourites. . . #diversebooks #indianbooks #arundhatiroy #manujoseph #anitadesai
