Koloman Moser, marbled paper technique, 1904. Vienna, via Leopoldmuseum
For this age-old process a shallow tray is filled with oil paints which are then made into patterns or various motifs using a needle or marbling comb. Subsequently, a piece of paper is dipped into the tray to absorb the paint. These papers were either used as endpapers or covers for books, or as autonomous artworks.
using some strings and wire (instead of split fasteners bc the ones i have are too short TwT) i got one joint fully functional!!! it looks simple but before it didnt spread the feathers evenly :P
now i just gotta attach some kinda string system to make it posable from the body joint :33333
so it turns out, tragically, the expensive colored paper IS in fact worth it
That's colorplan, that you have to order from Talas, who not only has a 5 sheet minimum per color, but also has what seems to be a $42 minimum shipping fee. But oh, it's pretty.
Bonus peacocks! I think I've finally figured out how to do the peacock pattern, even if I can only replicate it half the time.
Book rebinding attempt #2! The book is one of those 1 line a day 5 year journals and it was showing some wear (from almost 3 years of daily use). I used handmade marbled paper that I made a few weeks ago, bookcloth from Etsy, and I reused the boards from the original binding. Still some imperfections, but I’m excited to do more!
