In case you missed it, TCB held their very first in-person Great Debate last night and it was SO. MUCH. FUN!!!! I don't really watch Smosh or Dropout, so the only contestants I really knew were Angela and Jiavani (as if that wasn't enough already), but honestly that didn't really matter at all. The format translated to a full live show so beautifully--honestly more easily than it translated to zoom--and TCB had some fun structural twists up their sleeves that I don't think even the contestants themselves were at all prepared for. Again, I don't watch Dropout, but from what I know of it I feel confidant in saying that the whole thing had Game Changer vibes. And all of the contestants were really fun and different, almost like they were all professional comedians or something. Grant O'Brien in particular took a... unique approach to the whole thing.

So, yeah. If, like me, you're not into Smosh or Dropout and therefore are on the fence about getting the digital ticket for this event, I'd say go for it! In return, you'll get to watch contestants take turns hitting on Joey (our suave gameshow host) while roleplaying as sexy cereal mascots. Who could ask for more? Athem.

(Also, like, half of LA Starkid was in the audience. Our girl Mariah was LIVING, let me tell you!)

Alice in Chains - Dirt (Columbia, 1992) - Photographed by Rocky Schenck, designed by Schenck and Mary Maurer

The woman buried in the dirt is model Mariah O'Brien. The photo wasn't taken from an actual desert, but from Schenck's studio in Hollywood (who in their right mind would take photos in the uninhabitable California deserts for hours?). Drummer Sean Kinney, noted photo enthusiast, supervised the shoot.

A theory circulated for a while that the model in the cover was Demri Parrott, Layne Staley's love interest at the time. Schenck ended up setting the record straight, stating that while her name was brought up as choice, the group never took the idea seriously.
