ship traits and picrew!
tagged by @a-treides and guys i know i always say these are long and under the cut for that reason but i really couldn't shut the fuck up on this one so. you have been warned <3 i talked about 11 ocs and a couple of them have multiple partners
Tumblr media Tumblr media
tav khoury & raphael (baldur's gate 3); so this is kind of a mix of "canon" end where she kills him and "bad end" where they actually get "together" (read: are insane).
height difference (i am So normal about how much taller his cambion form is than her (lie)) / mutual pining / first kiss / wedding / in-jokes / lgbtq+ (diveristy win! the worst two people in the world are bisexual) / family disapproves (i feel like their whole thing gives mephistopheles heartburn and that's before we get into the crown of karsus bit) / would die for each other / would kill for each other (and have <3) / fake relationship / arranged wedding / cuddlers / pda friendly (exhibitionist weirdos <3) / and they were roommates / holding hands / secret relationship / opposing worldviews / getting a pet / have kids / want kids / grow old together / relationship failures / rests head on shoulder / share a bed (they don't talk about it) / relationship doubts / they have a song (they probably each write one bc they're bards and refuse to acknowledge the other's as anything other than copying, regardless of who wrote it first. raphael's is better but tav performs hers better, probably) / first date / sharing a blanket / mutual interests (do not let me get started on this one i'll explode.) / study buddies / bathing together / crash into hello / accidental nudity / laundry / same hobbies / cooking for each other / big fancy gala (the things these two have gotten up to in dark corners at fancy galas in my wips. good lird) / forehead touches / hair stroking / sitting on each other’s laps / sexual tension / can’t be together (if gale being cured of the orb didn't necessitate the crown tav would have been Crazy even in her canon end. her morals aren't That good. but unforch. she befriended gale first.) / battle couple / Friends to Lovers / Enemies to Lovers (but only Barely. he kidnaps her when they first meet, she threatens to kill him, but both of them leave that initial conversation feeling largely positive about each other because they're weird.) / Lovers to Enemies / keeping secrets (her, not him. he's weirdly honest and that drives miss "never failed a deception check" insane) / love after loss (but worse!) / exes / declaration of love (only in bad end but my God does tav fucking go for it there) / flirting / love triangle (only barely. it's entirely dependent on One thing and there's not like an Ongoing Competition. tav's poly she just can't have both because it requires her to reject or lean into Bonkers worldviews) / destructive romance (it ain't called bad end because tav has a positive impact, i'll say that much) / envy / “I Don’t Want to Ruin Our Friendship” / shared values (truly insane the degree to which this happened by accident. by the way) / slow burn / does not end well / happily ever after / love letters (they're both bards. they get Poetic with it)
Tumblr media
tav khoury & astarion (baldur's gate 3); just like above, a mix of "canon" end where they're freaks having their happily-ever-after and "bad end" where he ascends and uhh she doesn't like that to put it mildly. but not on moral reasons she dgaf about the seven thousand souls.
height difference (not as much. but still) / mutual pining / first kiss / wedding / in-jokes / lgbtq+ / family disapproves / would die for each other / would kill for each other (and have!) / fake relationship / arranged wedding / cuddlers / pda friendly (to the dismay of their party) / and they were roommates / holding hands / secret relationship / opposing worldviews / getting a pet (idgaf what the epilogue said. scratch and the owlbear are staying with tav) / have kids / want kids / grow old together / relationship failures / rests head on shoulder / share a bed / relationship doubts (only insomuch as is canonical in act 2/early act 3) / they have a song / first date / sharing a blanket / mutual interests / study buddies / bathing together / crash into hello / accidental nudity / laundry (something horribly intimate about washing the blood out of your clothes after a battle with a fresh bitemark on your neck...) / same hobbies / cooking for each other (tav can't cook but she lets him bite her every night so it Counts) / big fancy gala (leveraging their reputation as heroes to get invites to things that they act wildly inappropriate at) / forehead touches / hair stroking / sitting on each other’s laps / sexual tension / can’t be together / battle couple / Friends to Lovers / Enemies to Lovers / Lovers to Enemies (only in bad end) / keeping secrets / love after loss / exes (only in bad end) / declaration of love (graveyard scene killed me dead i must say) / flirting / love triangle (raphael psychically attacked me into it but alas. it remains) / destructive romance / envy / “I Don’t Want to Ruin Our Friendship” / shared values / slow burn / does not end well (bad end) / happily ever after (canon end) / love letters
Tumblr media
mari marino & karl bishop (undercover agent)
height difference / mutual pining / first kiss / wedding / in-jokes / lgbtq+ / family disapproves (don't let the fact that you were hired to spy on their dad and watched him get murdered keep you from finding your true love!) / would die for each other / would kill for each other / fake relationship / arranged wedding / cuddlers / pda friendly / and they were roommates / holding hands / secret relationship / opposing worldviews / getting a pet / have kids / want kids / grow old together / relationship failures / rests head on shoulder / share a bed / relationship doubts (for at Least a couple years post-game. did you only date me to get better access to my father, are you in this for the money, are you only with me for revenge and there's a con i'm missing, etc etc. but eventually they're like oh dip this is real, nice) / they have a song / first date / sharing a blanket / mutual interests / study buddies / bathing together / crash into hello / accidental nudity / laundry / same hobbies / cooking for each other / big fancy gala / forehead touches / hair stroking / sitting on each other’s laps / sexual tension / can’t be together / battle couple / Friends to Lovers / Enemies to Lovers / Lovers to Enemies / keeping secrets / love after loss / exes / declaration of love / flirting / love triangle / destructive romance / envy / “I Don’t Want to Ruin Our Friendship” / shared values / slow burn / does not end well / happily ever after / love letters

Tumblr media
neria surana & leliana (dragon age: origins)
height difference / mutual pining / first kiss / wedding / in-jokes / lgbtq+ / family disapproves / would die for each other (and neria did!) / would kill for each other / fake relationship / arranged wedding / cuddlers / pda friendly / and they were roommates / holding hands / secret relationship / opposing worldviews (interestingly enough, leliana in dai is much more in line with neria's worldview in dao than they're aligned when they're both alive. neria's just very much a pragmatist in a way dao leliana Isn't) / getting a pet / have kids / want kids / grow old together / relationship failures / rests head on shoulder / share a bed / relationship doubts / they have a song / first date / sharing a blanket / mutual interests / study buddies / bathing together / crash into hello / accidental nudity / laundry / same hobbies / cooking for each other / big fancy gala / forehead touches / hair stroking / sitting on each other’s laps / sexual tension / can’t be together / battle couple / Friends to Lovers / Enemies to Lovers / Lovers to Enemies / keeping secrets (neria does Not tell leliana a warden has to die, and she Definitely doesn't tell her about the dark ritual she turned down) / love after loss / exes / declaration of love / flirting / love triangle / destructive romance / envy / “I Don’t Want to Ruin Our Friendship” / shared values / slow burn / does not end well / happily ever after / love letters (and if i say the locked box in dai is full of the letters leliana writes and can never send...)

The first event of 2024 will feature renowned sculptor Marie Khouri who will share her incredible personal story of creativity through the lens of the global theme RISE.
Born in Egypt and raised in Lebanon, Marie Khouri relays messages of movement, community, and connection through her artworks. As an immigrant spending time across Europe before truly settling in Canada, Khouri’s work speaks to a unified and diverse audience, creating sculptures that unify communities. With her works rooted in a profound sense of dislocation and the search for a greater sense of place, her sculptures are formed through extensive hands-on process that employs traditional sculpting techniques alongside contemporary innovations in material and building standards. Khouri was just honoured as the Award of Distinction in the 2023 Applied Art + Design Awards by BC Achievement Foundation.
Every month we ask our speaker a handful of probing questions to give us a deeper glimpse into their life and relationship with creativity:
How do you define creativity and apply it in your life and career? When asked about how I define creativity and apply it in my life and career, I express that for me, creativity is not just a sporadic occurrence but an everyday phenomenon. It permeates various aspects of my life, from the way I dress and cook to my behavior and work. I draw inspiration from everyday things, whether it be an image, a reading, or a simple walk, emphasizing the importance of finding creativity in the ordinary.
Where do you find your best creative inspiration or energy? Reflecting on where I find my best creative inspiration or energy, I stress that inspiration often stems from everyday experiences, such as images, readings, or walks—especially those by the sea. I emphasize the significance of not merely looking at things but truly seeing them, delving beneath the surface. Ultimately, I highlight the pivotal moment when I can apply this creative inspiration in the studio, manifesting it into the everyday things I create.
What’s one piece of creative advice or a tip you wish you’d known as a young person? In response to the question about creative advice for young individuals, I suggest embracing every moment and experience, emphasizing that tips and advice are valuable additions to one’s creative journey. Stressing the importance of taking life one step at a time.
Who (living or dead) would you most enjoy hearing speak at CreativeMornings? When asked about the dream speaker at CreativeMornings, I express a desire to hear Louise Bourgeois, citing her groundbreaking contributions to sculpture and feminist art during her time. I appreciate her ability to break the mold, highlighting her role as an abstract expressionist in feminist art.
What did you learn from your most memorable creative failure? Answering the question about the most memorable creative failure, I share the lesson learned—that accidents can lead to creative successes. I draw a parallel to Bob Ross’s philosophy that there are no creative mistakes, only happy accidents. I emphasize the iterative nature of art, where mistakes can often pave the way for unique and creative outcomes.
What fact about you would surprise people? Regarding a surprising fact about myself, I reveal that I speak five languages, worked as an interpreter before becoming an artist, and even had a background in finance. This unexpected facet adds depth to my identity beyond the realm of art.
How does your life and career compare to what you envisioned for your future as a sixth grader? When asked to compare my life and career to the visions I had as a sixth grader, I explain that, due to existing in a difficult reality during a civil war in my home country, I was incapable of dreaming at that age. This experience shaped my perspective on life and dreams.
How would you describe what you do in a single sentence to a stranger? “I play with clay,” encapsulating the essence of my artistic endeavors.
If you could open a door and go anywhere, where would that be? In response to the hypothetical scenario of opening a door and going anywhere, I express a desire to be in my home, Paris, France..
What keeps you awake at night? Delving into what keeps me awake at night, I humorously attribute it to my “creative juices,” emphasizing the constant flow of ideas and inspiration that fuels my artistic endeavors.
What are you proudest of in your life? When asked about what I am proudest of in my life, I unequivocally cite my children as my greatest source of pride, followed by my achievements in public art.
What has been one of your biggest Aha! moments in life? Recalling one of my biggest “Aha!” moments in life, I share the profound experience of witnessing the installation of my first public art piece—VANTAGE—a moment that solidified the impact of my creative contributions.

"Messidor."
The film that did the "Thelma and Louise" road trip thingy back in 1979, 12 years before Callie Khouri wrote the T&L script. Of course, "Messidor" is grimmer, but it's there.
Men in road trip movies seek to escape feminity [domesticity] whereas women try to escape the patriarchy [oppression].
There's something to be said about the gendered assumptions of this genre though. Thelma and Louise are reinscribed into masculine codes and outmacho their male antagonists.
Jeanne and Marie are not as empowered as Thelma and Louise. They don't get that last "fuck you, we'll die free" moment of defiance when they have their showdown with the police.

La Reine Garçon (Opéra de Montréal)
D.I., Delinkan Intellectuel, revue d'actualité et de culture, in Societas Criticus Vol. 26-01 : www.societascriticus.com
Argument
Acte 1

Mais, à l'époque, « it was shocking! »

archetype quiz!
tagged by @a-treides and the results are making me So insane so ty for the tag jackie <3 i tag anyone who'd like to do it! answers below the cut
tav khoury, baldur's gate 3; ghost
you seem to think you're the villain. i don't think that you are. i don't know why you'd want to be, either. there is always love and light if you look for it and i think you would enjoy that, if you would let yourself be a part of that world instead of haunting it from beyond the glass. it really isn't much fun to be a villain, but i think you know that. it's easier, sure, than trying to be a good, happy person, but it isn't as much fun. the cool aesthetics only make up for so much.
yeah...act 2 tav having to reckon with the fact that she's doing more than just playacting as a hero at this point, that she may Have to let her walls down to connect with these people the way she's realizing she Wants to. only to commit fully or lean back into old habits depending on how act 3 goes for her...i miss her, i should replay bg3
mari marino, undercover agent; starlet
deeply, you understand beauty—what it is to possess it, to surround yourself in it, to be consumed by it. it's better, isn't it? to create your own world full of lights and glamour than to live in reality with the rest of us? it's like living in a movie. you win, by the way. this is your movie, you're our star. be careful, though, getting too far from reality. it gets more and more difficult to come back, and you've got to, at some point.
this is so funny given that mari's canonical ending is to ditch all her responsibilities to go be spoiled, idle rich with her boyfriend rather than deal with the consequences of her actions. girl is Not coming back to reality <3
evelyn trevelyan, dragon age: inquisition; hero
the hero in a relative sense, anyhow. you have your moments of weakness, but you're the best one for the job. or the only one that wants it. golden child, high aptitude, natural leader, whatever it may be—you've grown used to being favored, to being the best. you walk a fine line and you'll lose yourself to insanity if you aren't careful. you know that, though. it began to dawn on you a long time ago what you've gotten yourself into.
yeah that's her <3 born for responsibility, magic pushing her off to the side, dumb luck pushing her into a spotlight far wider than being heir alone would do...but also wanting that same attention and power, deeply. good, but not selfless to the point of stupidity. if she believed all of what she said, she'd go crazy, but since she's a lot less kind than she plays at, she's quite content.
nesta trevelyan, dragon age: inquisition; lover
[platonic or romantic!] you are so full of love and light; you value the people around you more than anything. i hope you find what you're looking for. i hope you find the right people at the right time and that your world is full of love; i hope your love is returned to you, properly, and that you don't ever get too hurt (because you're prone to it, aren't you?). you deserve that, you deserve the world. i wish you the best. also, i'm serious, read the last lines of the minecraft end poem if you haven't, i think you'll like it.
nesta is so full of love and in a world where all expressions of kindness are seen with suspicion or suppressed by her siblings' efforts. she would be for freedom, for pacifism, for a gentle touch (or a mischievous touch, depending on if she's started seeing sera yet), but her sister as inquisitor is too busy amassing influence to focus on the little people, and that's the GOOD ending (because if her brother gets the anchor, he's not much better than corypheus wrt the whole god complex thing). i need to write an evelyn&nesta thing, horrible sisters who love each other despite it all, they make me crazy

For her Paris home, architect Aline Asmar d’Amman commissioned Abdul Rahman Katanani’s swirling barbed wire wall sculpture for the salon, where it overlooks a vessel by Johannes Nagel and a Katie Stout ceramic chair. Beneath the room’s original late-19th-century chandelier, sofas by Ico Parisi (left) and Edward Wormley face a Mathilde Penicaud cocktail table, while an heirloom Baccarat vase filled with flowers by Debeaulieu accents a console next to a vintage Italian torch-cut metal mirror. 2. 3.In the entrance hall, Zaha Hadid’s Aqua table stands beneath a work in charcoal by Marie Khouri; the Tai Ping rug was designed by d’Amman.
