If you know me well, Mario & Luigi, especially Superstar Saga, is one of my favorite games of all time. It's my second favorite RPG series, just under Chrono Trigger. Which, yeah, means that I think M&L is my favorite Mario RPG series. I just love the gameplay of those games and how engaging it is to participate in battles doing Bros. Moves while focusing on enemy patterns and behaviors to avoid or even counter them. And yeah, I do enjoy Paper Mario and SMPRG almost the same, but to me, M&L is the winner for me and it's a series that I go back to without hesitation. Alphadream may be dead, and I do wish that the series would come back, but even if it doesn't, I'll fondly remember and play those games any day of the week.

Now, why did I draw the Bros. fighting against Sephiroth in this? Well, for those living under a rock, this is a reference to a meme that was really popular during the beginning of the year, where someone suggested Mario & Luigi, with all of their M&L mechanics, to fight against Sephiroth with all of the Final Fantasy mechanics. And since in M&L you can avoid attacks all together, this meant that Mario and Luigi was gonna win against the One Winged Angel **by default**. Now, whether or not that's actually true, I dunno entirely myself, I'll just leave it to the people obsessed with Death Battles to do so, but man, it was so fun to see.

I need to resume FF7, though. Haven't done anything past the first Jenova fight.

Sorry this one took so long! I was planning on posting this a while ago, but it ended up in my drafts, and I didn't realize it till this morning 🙃 😅

"Shush it, Mario."

"Luigi..."

"Stop it."

"Come on, man. I can see you shivering from way over here!"

For some reason, his brother was acting more stubborn than usual today. The two were visiting their family for the holiday, and that it had been awhile since they've gone back to Brooklyn for anything other than a quick repair job or wanting to meet with their ever growing fans.

Unfortunately, the moment they decided to spend a full week at home was also when Mother Nature decided to launch the entire state in a bad snow front, meaning that even though they didn't get alot of snow, the temperature outside was cold as artic and everyone was bundled up to conserve whatever body heat they had left.

That is except for Luigi, who thought it was fine just wearing one thin jacket and only having his hoodie up over his head. No gloves, no ear muffs, not even a scarf!

And the guy wasn't allowing him to even offer any of the ones that he has. Not that either of them would back down anyway.

"I s-said I'm f-f-fine!" Luigi's teeth audible chattered, and he tried to look angry at his brother, who only looked back at him with an expressionless face.

"Wow, yeah, very convincing there, Lu." He rolled his eyes and raised his brow as Luigi matched his eye roll.

"Geez, we're almost at Ma and Pop's anyway, it's not that big of a deal."

'You say that now, but you'll regret it in the morning when you catch a cold....'

He finally put his foot down, without trying to slip on a patch of ice he was standing on. "Okay, look, you're either gonna share this jacket with me, or I'm going to have to force you to wear it. And you and I both know that'll end quickly."

He watched his brother pause in his walk, wrapping his arms tighter around his body, whether to keep himself warm or a last act of stubbornness melting away was his best guess.

"If you're making up your mind, hurry it up cause I'm freezing my butt off right now." He tapped his foot impatiently as he motioned the flap of his coat out to him, trying to ignore the brisk cold air now hitting his chest.

Luigi had finally turned around. His face was unreadable as he trudged his feet against the frozen sidewalk and scuttled into the left side of Mario's winter coat. He had to kneel down a bit so the two were at equal height, but from the way he was shivering, he had confirmed that the testa dura was acting like this for no reason.

"Wipe that grin off your face, Mario." He heard Luigi mumble as they walked a steady pace across the pavement. "You don't have to rub it in."

"Oh, I know I don't to, you've just proved how damn stubborn you are when you need to admit when you're wrong."

"Shut up."

"Nope."

maria and louise sketch #2

maria(marie?mari?) and louise outfit sketches! + paper sketch i thought was pretty. i tried a new way of coloring for their faces, cause they would stay the same. i didnt like the way it turned out, looks weird and plastic-y but tell me what you think?. you can tell where i gave up coloring right loll? pls accept this sloppyness as this is simply concept sketches, i was unsure which one i liked the best so i just wanted to get the idea across with simple lines. i also did luises hair wrong i just couldnt get the hat right sorry

i faced even more difficulties than i mentioned in the last post, especially concerning “keeping things canon looking”. another thing about the mario universe girlies is i’ve never seen them wear pants either, but mario and luigi do wear pants. do you keep the original design for recognition? or do you try and match what nintendo would do?, ok they’ll just wear denim overall dresses then with white stockings, but they’re plumbers? that would just be impractical why would they wear skirts?. what about denim overall shorts?, that seems like a compromise. still pretty impractical though.. and i havent even started with turtlenecks or collar cuffs or discussed the length of their sleeves. their clothes technically shouldn’t change at all, but im also thinking about how nintendo designs girl characters and try to match that to make it as canon looking as possible

now onto explaining the results!

first sketch - is just their original outfits, the either thick and wooly or thin hugging-the-neck type of turtleneck people draw them in. gloves, boots(i got tired ok) all the good stuff. there is no actual reason to even change their outfits so this makes sense.

second sketch - is when i took the whole “never seen a mario girl in pants” very literally, the difference in dress length i felt would differentiate them and i think it fits. white stockings because it jst makes sense. (again the whole difference in turtleneck thickness and the sleeve length difference is not like for real its more like presenting different options cus i couldnt settle on one, thats why in the next drawing the sleeve length is switched) they might look like this if nintendo designed them, but again it seems unpractical?, not something they would actually wear. 

third sketch - might be a compromise?, just realised they’re called dungarees woops,. balloon like/wide end, makes it sort of look dress-like at the same time. something nintendo might settle on if they realised their boys are a special case but still wanted some girlypop. (basically if they got over themselves)

- and then the uncolored layer and the little maria sketch. i like all the outfits i dont think i can decide on something permanent :((. 

im thinking about doing this with bowser too!,would be an interesting thing trying to capture his likeness. build, plastron, hair - whatever. (bowsette i pretend i do not see) and i might do something mischevious when im done >:D(its lesbian bowuigi, thats the mischevious thing)

So. While I am busy with other refs and alike. In the meantime how about I lore dump about Paralysis. My Antasma based Mario.exe. To give a sort of introduction/list some bullet points and other facts about him.

-Paralysis resides within copies of Mario and Luigi: Dream team. Copies Paralysis is connected too are largely normal aside from Antasmas sprite being elongated to abnormal proportions. It’s when the target falls asleep that the “Fun” Begins.

-Once the target falls asleep. Paralysis is able to drag their consciousness into their personal dream world. A pocket dimension of swirling dark clouds, abstract floating islands that don’t follow any comprehensible structure and faint whispers. Inside the dream world things from the victims nightmares and darkest thoughts come to life (Example: If the victim were to have a nightmare about a crazed murderer brandishing a chainsaw. Said Murderer would appear in the dream world and mercilessly hunt down the victim) 

  -While most of the terror provided in Paralysis’s world comes from the victim brining their own horrors to life. Paralysis is able to alter aspects of his world. (Such as the gravity or the general structure of the world) Paralysis is also able to telepathically speak to people in his world. Which he uses to instill horrific ideas into the victims mind. So that when the target ponders on them, said horrors will come to life.

-Paralysis’s goal is to keep a victim in his world for as long as possible in order to slowly siphon psychic energy from them. (Even if it causes the victim too slowly deteriorate mentally, and even physically) Though the physical deterioration is slow as targets can spend years in his dream world and their body can still look completely fine on the surface.

-Paralysis cannot sleep. Much less dream himself. Which eventually lead to his body deteriorating into an outstretched mess. Even his other transformations share this trait. So Paralysis hopes that by siphoning psychic energy he will finally be able to dream once again.

-Victims are able to “wake up” From the dream world. However those that do 95% of the time end up ungodly traumatized by the events. Often delirious and thinking even those they were once close too are fake. Or that they’re “Monsters”

And that’s about all I have for now since I physically cannot think of anything more to write. Hope you enjoyed it.
