Did some edits to show the designs of the PULT Unova Gym Leaders (+ some design notes under the cut) Gachas are the drafts for the designs while the edits are the finals. Canon color pallets are a suggestion and thus not color picked.

Cheren: Honestly, just made his hair a bit more sleek to show a bit more maturity. And have him a jacket because why not.

Roxie: I tried so hard to make her look like an adult but still resemble herself it was genuinely really hard lmao. She probably doesn't look remotely like herself but waddya gonna do. You change a lot from when you're 14. Also her design is entirely based on Scoliopede

Burgh: I had a vision for this fit and that inspired me to design all of them. It's based on Leavanny

Elesa: It's mostly just based on her Rotom Sygna Suit but warmer, because the Unova weather is currently a blizzard. But still left a tiddy window because it felt fitting for her. Also some subtle age lines because she's like 48 but I imagine she wears her age very well.

Clay: No real major difference. Just added grey hairs and made the teal pink just cuz I thought it would be really neat if he was matching with his beautiful daughter Lacey. She might make a cameo in Driftviel for sure.

Skyla: Honestly, just took the general color values of her normal outfit and made it much more aviator style. I never liked her normal outfit to begin with ESPECIALLY for the weather in this story so yeah. Also subtle age lines like Elesa for the same reason.

Drayden: The only one I had designed before this exercise. His brooches are based on Zekrom (black wing) Reshiram (white wing) and Kyurem (blue gem). His boots are the same, flames for Reshiram and lightning bolts for Zekrom. His pockets are based on some PULT lore for Ingo and Emmet. (He's their father) The smiling dragon with the horns pointed upwards is for Emmet, the frowning dragon with horns pointed downwards is for Ingo.

Marlon: Gave him a wetsuit because it fit the climate better. I also made him black because. Yeah I hate his canon tan it's so weird. If it was a bit lighter and his natural skin was a little darker it'd be fine but Ehhh. I was considering making it into vitiligo instead but I decided against it because it'd be hard to design when most of his body is covered

Please hire him bianca: pinterest. she just takes a ton of pictures of her munna. she wants to dig no deeper into the grand net and who can blame her hugh: roblox. he plays rainbow friends and gets mad when his teammates screw him over. that teammate is usually benga cress+chili+cilan: also roblox as well as tiktok. they spend all their time sending each other bad videos and saying the other brothers are the most obnoxious parts of them (chili especially gets and receives this most) lenora: runs an educational youtube channel where she excitedly infodumps about fossils for an hour while her husband follows her across the whole museum burgh: has an account on every art website you can think of. usually quiet before suddenly bursting into random rants and deleting them five hours later. probably also had vine for the short time it was alive but is too stubborn to move to tiktok elesa: big tiktok and instagram star and mutuals with iono and raihan. those two are constantly vaguing each other. she will not break mutuals with either. posts her fashion tips but has a personal side tiktok where she makes dumb memes and skits clay: facebook dad energy. is he even a dad? i don't know but that's all i have to say for you all to know exactly what he posts and with what frequency skyla: also on tiktok but only so elesa can send her videos. she doesn't use social media otherwise she's too busy PILOTING PLANES!!! brycen: his manager told him he should make a youtube channel to promote himself. he has one but all that's on it is one video of him glaring down the camera like it insulted his mother drayden: another facebook dad. a bit quieter than clay though iris: the rare google+ kid. also has facebook. thinks grumpy cat is the funniest thing on the planet. who are we to break her happy place roxie: soundcloud. actually successful though but she still posts exclusively there. you won't make her move to spotify or youtube. won't do it marlon: has an instagram where all he posts to it are inspirational quotes laid over images of the beach. just that. for like a thousand posts. godspeed alder: facebook Again. also has a twitter he doesn't know how to use because benga made him make one benga: twitter and tiktok fan. also roblox player. has a sockpuppet account for trolling on twitter but everyone knows it's him ingo: pinterest. he has no interest in the greater internet. it scares him emmet: tumblr fan. sends ingo memes with 5 layers of context needed just to see his face when he asks what this all is supposed to mean colress: also a twitter troll. unlike benga he's actually subtle about it. all his rants about ghetsis are on a locked side only he has access to ghetsis: only posts insane "THE END IS NIGH" type conspiracy ramblings onto his facebook account he has three friends on (they're all the shadow triad). except for one blurry picture of his hydreigon trying to bite him n: the only one free from the internet's cruel grasp. be free my child

- A quick sketch concept on my take for Elesa and Skyla design in a hypothetical Black White 3. Some facets of it could be better smoothed out, but you can see the general concept. -Elesa's more asymmetrical, contrasting the stylised shoulder pad and cape with the skirt and different coloured leggings. Her hair would dyed cyan and have a long ponytail in a twist on BW2's bangs. -Skyla's got a thicker jacket, the helmet with ponytail hole, more holsters and badges. And a scarf. Follow up then, a brief muse on what they've been up to. In my take, BW3 is set eight years after BW2 and two years after Indigo Disc. -Elesa's been driving her ambitions along, forever aiming higher and shinier. Nimbasa City's gotten more entertainment venues and thanks to her collaborating her agencies with Skyla's air cargo service, funding events that net more income. She also took to the process of applying for the Elite Four, eventually winning the trial matches and setting up a new quartet alongside Marlon, Marshal and Iris. Bringing in glamorous new designs for the Elite Four's venues, Elesa's been promoting Unova's league matches to bolster the region's reputation, essentially the go-getter in showing off Unova's flair. But high as her sights have lifted, she's still got time for the sweeter things; she's married Skyla in the interim, and has the courtesy to rein her amibitions in if they may conflict with her friends and family. Her E4 team (in the match, Electric Terrain is perpetually active):

-Skyla's likewise been perfecting her business and training, working her way up to the eight slot of the Unova gym roster. She's been generously supporting Elesa's efforts, expanding on the cargo services and honing her flying skills. Occasionally she'll do stunt flights for charity and promotions. It's a busy routine and Skyla's had to leave most flights to subordinates, though she keeps an eye on how business is booming. There was a point Skyla briefly hung the pilot/gym attire to model with Elesa, advertising their joint ambitions. It got a bit dicey when Skyla was worried Elesa's efforts would end up gentrifying Mistralton, but between them they worked it out and Skyla's hometown is still calm and quiant, with only the airport and gym boosting up. This is the 6tg of a small daily poll series during my break.

I'll ask the fave gym leaders of each region, and at the end put them all in a poll against eachother!

black and white 3: Gym Challenge

Unova is the only region to show more than 8 gyms in both the games and the anime so I think it’s be awesome to have the be the first to have more than 8 gyms for the player to challenge.

New Things

Pick up the trend of having no set Gym Order, but have the player able to pick from 3 home towns, one on each peninsula(?). Typically what ever gyms closest to it would be the player’s “First” gym but it isn’t entirely necessary to do so.

The hometown of the player is based on the Starter selected, as Prof. Bianca (Aspen) has shipped the pokemon to you with a note to meet her to get a newly minted pokedex.

Traveling across Unova is made easier as you can travel around across Unova via Gear Station early on OR the newly introduced Braviary/Mandibuzz Taxi

the Taxi Cab drivers and Depot Agents hate each others guts with a BURNING passion

There is also the Cirrus Ferry: boat that transports people from Virbank to Castelia and vice-versa

here’s where you would see Roxie’s dad as Captain as one of the boats, having found this a more reliable source of income than fishing

The Gyms

You only need 8 badges but Each Gym offers a TM/HM that the player may or may not want/need to explore Unova

The number of Gym Badges a player has determines the difficulty of the Gym Trainers and the Gym Leader’s Team (like how it’s implied to be in the manga/anime)

Cress/Marlon(?)

Been reading Shadow Triad = Striaton Bros theories again cause I hold that headcanon near and dear to my heart and one I was reading points out that it’s kinda implied Cress suggested Marlon to replace them as Gym Leaders once they stepped down post BW. Marlon, who refuses to fight Team Plasma and only helps out the protag a little bit before leaving once he does cave and help at all.

So what I’m saying is Cress/Marlon as like a weird honeytrap situation. Depends on how much Marlon is in on the plan but whereas before I’ve always been neutral on Cress/Marlon, when under the angle it’s a seduction thing on Cress’ part to further the Team Plasma agenda… it’s a good ship. Can get behind that. Cress makes sure he has allies on the side that he and his brothers can rely on if the going gets tough.

These are all just early thoughts since up till this point I’ve ignored Marlon, but there’s something to the idea Marlon does genuinely like Cress. He’s a chill guy so not totally unaware he’s probably being used by Cress, but not gonna worry about that. He’s just in things for a good time. His morally dubious not actually boyfriend he fools around with sometimes during the BW/BW2 timeline.

Also there’s no way I’m changing Sorrel’s father, he’s a Ghetsis/Cress son through and through, but there’s also something to the idea of Cress not knowing who exactly the father of his first born is once he discovers he’s pregnant (a running theme for him). Could be Ghetsis. Could be Marlon. Could be some other guy if any good candidates come to mind that work during the timeframe (I’m also partial to Cress getting involved with Drayden but there’s a reason why I have them as endgame in ChampionVerse. Cress underestimates that man and Drayden locks that down. So perhaps Cress not getting involved with Drayden in Mainverse is what changes that).

But yes, nothing comes of it fankid wise, but I’m kinda cracking the code a bit on Marlon. Was involved with Cress during BW/BW2 era and was in on Team Plasma’s plans enough to not want to interfere with them. Although this was due to his involvement with Cress and knowing he’s a member of the Shadow Triad, vs actually being on board with their plans. Mostly just turns his head the other way and tries to ignore what Team Plasma is up to.

headcanon; Unova League Structure. For any other Unova blogs I interact with, lemme preface this with: feel free to take it or leave it, its not super consequential—this is mainly just my take on how its structured.

So as we can intuit from the games, most leagues don't necessarily have a strict order in which challengers have to face the gyms. In some cases, there are certainly recommendations, but no hard rules, per say. Obviously, in some cases, there aren't even arbitrary road blocks preventing you from challenging gyms in a weird order. Johto, Kanto, and Sinnoh (in Diamond and Pearl, I believe they changed that in Platinum) all come to mind as ones that have some portions of the game, at least, where you can sort of just proceed in whatever order you feel like. And obviously Paldea is just a free-for-all in terms of what you challenge where, but there's still definitely some tiers to it. (From a game design perspective I have mixed feelings on that but I digress.)

Anyway—though Unova is arguably the most arbitrarily road block-y in terms of gym order (I actually can't think of any examples where the game actually allows you to proceed to the next town without having to do the gym battle first, smh), its gyms can be theoretically challenged in any order, as evidenced by the major reshuffling of things in BW2. In fact, I don't think Unova actually has any strictly recommended order. Most gym leaders, in fact, have multiple team memebers that they can swap in and out depending on the challenger in question. (Yeah, yeah, I know, that's not even true in Paldea but again I have mixed feelings on that, we aren't gonna get into it.)

Basically—all of Unova's gym leaders are adaptable, at least to some degree. Largely, this depends on various statistics from challengers, which its Hilda's job to pay attention to and conduct gym assessments accordingly. Gyms that are most frequently challenged first need to have a team ready that's suitable for newer trainers just as much as one that's suitable for more experienced trainers, and those that are most frequently challenged late need to focus more on the latter. You get the idea.

As far as the statistics go, the gym leaders that are actually challenged the most frequently as "early" gym leaders are Burgh and Elesa, due to Castelia's high population, and Cheren, thanks to the trainer's school, though he's on an interesting bell curve where he's got a surprisingly high number of final gym badge challengers as well. Marlon is most frequently challenged later, just thanks to where he's located relative to the rest of the gyms. The rest kind of fall on a sliding scale based on those.

I think Pokémon Black and White should get the ORAS treatment (in terms of how much they keep faithful/what they change with the OG game) in terms of remakes.

They should not go down the path of BDSP, which was basically beat for beat Gen IV just in a chibi art style and no Platinum stuff.

I want to see gym leaders and elite four getting amazing new outfits and new mons. I want every single Gen 1-9 Pokemon in existence. I want to see Team Plasma getting redesigns. I want Ghetsis to wear his BW2 uniform and have his BW2 personality and still be a bad dad, despite BW2 Ghetsis not treating N as horribly as BW. I want the BW2 leaders to be there, and Roxie to have purple/orange combo.

Speaking of Marlon, I want to see Marlon still be a nice, kind-hearted guy, but he'll also be a Pokémon-stealing Team Plasma member instead of the purely good Gym Leader he was in OG Unova (you can thank a fanfic for that).

The possibilities are endless!
