ALSO a Pazzi woman married Braccio Martelli which makes me scream because Lorenzo CANONICALLY did SINS with said Braccio
shshdh I LOVE that phrasing so much
but also oh my god I knew about the Sins™️ but I didn’t know about Martelli’s marriage to a Pazzi….this is incredible, I am thinking thoughts, I need to turn this around in my head for a month minimum…..
also context for people who would like to know about Martelli and Lorenzo:
Magnifico: the Brilliant Life and Times of Lorenzo de' Medici, Miles J. Unger

The Stranding - Chp 72 - Higher Visibility
IT'S AN UPDATE JUMP-SCARE
WELL WELL WELL, look what I managed to do!
It's been slow progress, I won't lie. Life has been a wild rollercoaster for me this year but it's been so, so amazing. I feel like my brain just needed a few months to really catch up, adjust, and ease itself along with all of the new things now that we're in a beautiful semblance of routine now, and here we are. Writing, again, however slowly.
Can't promise it'll be regular updates, or that if they are some kind of regular that they'll last a while, BUT. Makin' hay while the sun shines and so on and so on.
Thank you all so so much for your continued patience, your interest, your love and kudos, your kind words, and your amazing fanart, even!! It's been incredible. Please take good care of yourselves, as much as you're able <3 You deserve it.
Love, Belle

GtWAC Day 1:
Reblog your go to comfort fic
If you have not read The Stranding (and by extension, The Rescue) by the darling @belethlegwen you are deeply missing out! The sheer amount of content is truly a blessing, and considering its still being updated?? ASDFJHSLK
Belle is an incredible story teller, and this shines through in her writing so well I feel like I'm getting flashbanged by talent.
You know that typical writing advice about not introducing too many characters, especially early on as it divides the reader's attention?? BELLE STOMPS ON THAT.
AND
IT
WORKS
I genuinely can't get over how much I am in love with her characters. I must admit- I am the typical reader with one too many bonks to the head that can't seem to focus on/ remember/ care about more than 3-5 characters- that is not the case here.
Every character she introduces has my interest piqued- each one feeling alive and at home in their setting. And its not just likeable in the sense of "oh I'd be friends with them" (and she absolutely has many characters I'd love to be friends with)- its these raw and real characterizations that make you like them as a character.
They have their own mystery to them too- even if its not direct. Her characters make you wonder more about their past and why they act the way they do. They can be frustrating, immature, stubborn, even cruel- but they feel so deeply real.
Both written works from Sizeable Ship Wrecks are among my favorite things I've read- both inside and outside of the G/t sphere to the point I feel as though I could shamelessly recommend this to someone outside of the G/t community and be confident they would enjoy it.

hey! are you interest in Poliziano and the Medici court?
in the sense that you have to know about what the medicis are up to in order to follow along with the rube goldberg machine of interlocking politics during the renaissance (& dynast propaganda building, which is an aspect of political art history I'm always intrigued by, etc), yes. also because the medici are the positive space to the negative space that are the pazzi family, and I'm a 24/7 francesco de' pazzi apologist.
but outside of political spectacle and a general enjoyment of drama, I do not personally care about the medici family or their court of politics. I have said before on this blog and I'll say it again, even if I won't deny them their status as compelling figures in a narrative, I'm a full time medici hater (with varying degrees of seriousness to the statement)
I will say tho, I do spend a lot of time thinking about the relationship drama and everything that went wrong between poliziano, lorenzo, and clarice, like, if that was an HBO show, I'd watch it once a year and make all my friends watch it too. I also enjoy poliziano's writings a lot, obsessed with everything that was going on in his orfeo.

God, this is SO not an ask, but I have to tell you this. Ever since I read the Stranding (I've been embarassed about mixing up the titles ever since my last ask), I've been seeing a man on the bus that looks EXACTLY how I imagine Martellis to look like. Like, literally looking at a picture or something. And every single time, I kid you not, he sits infront of me AND I found out we live at the same place??? Like, hello??? Feels weird to see someone look like a character you adore in real life. Hopefully I didn't stare at him the first time I saw him....
Anyway, I am hyperfixated on your stories, thank you for asking XD
Sorry for the rambling :P
Omg I do not mind at all that it's not an ask hahaha, and I'm so sorry!! I didn't mean to embarrass you the last time! <3
God that is *wild* though. I've had it happen once with a character from the Hunger Games books when I was really into them (absolutely thought I went to the same gym as Finnick O'Dair before the movies were cast, hahaha)
I hope that whatever your Martellis is up to, the man is getting enough sleep. If he isn't I'll feel partially responsible somehow haha <3
Thank you so much for the ask! I hope you have a fantastic day <3 Never feel bad about rambling!
