Back to School Challenge 2022, 1st of september: the journey.

Selina Fawley was looking forward to her last year in Hogwarts. The hufflepuff girl loved being in the castle and having her friends by her side. Also the school year meant staying away from her parents, which was a huge bonus to her. She started her day as usual – the maids woke her up, helped her to get dressed then she went to her ballet class. She really did not expect much for the day. After the class, she was aware that she needed to get ready for the leave to the railway station. What she didn't know was that her fiancé, Kasper (or more known as Marty) was waiting for her. The Durmstrang graduate asked Mr. and Mrs. Fawley personally for permission to accompany Selina to the Hogwarts train. And they agreed, of course. So there he was... standing at the doorway, looking fresh and well put together. He reached his hand out for Selina to hold, which the girl accepted. Marty leaded Selina out to his carriage. That surprised her. She thought they might take a Portkey to the station but she was wrong. The man wanted to spend some time alone with her before she goes away for a year. The two of them weren't really fond of each other for the longest time. But things changed after they actually got some time to talk in private last year. They started to catch feelings, you see. Being alone in the carriage with Marty made Selina's stromach act weird. She tried to not blush, but it was impossible not to. Not when the man was being the perfect gentleman. You could say the journey was a weird mix of awkward silences and lingering, stolen glances. Marty was playing around with his promise ring on his finger and faked a cough to get his lady's attention.

"Miss Fawley..." he started. "After you graduate, we shall to get married to each other. I hope you're ready for that and your last year in Hogwarts is going to be pleasant." That left the pure-blooded girl startled. She really did not expect to hear that from him. Oh, I'm in so much trouble she thought. The man is really making her head over heels for him! "Thank you, Mr. Gyllenfeldt. I'm looking forward to... that." She managed to say, withouth stuttering. Once the couple arrived to the Kings Cross Train Station, Marty seemed hesitant. Two house elves appeared next to them, bringing Selina's luggages to the train. With a shaky breath, Marty stepped closer to Selina and pulled her into a tight hug. "I'm really looking forward to that as well, Miss Fawley." He whispered. Selina hugged him back, just as tightly while a shy smile appeared on her face.

Weekend with the Grays: Supper time at Winbourne

Luckily, Nadia was back to normal after taking it easy yesterday. She spent the day mostly napping and chit-chatting with her boyfriend, Jesse. Selina Fawley, on the other hand was a little bit of uncomfortable. During the dinner, she stayed close to Marty, but once the men went on their separate ways, she was left alone with the ladies. And really, she wasn't close to them. Except for Vinnie Wakefield who decided to join the party last minute. Selina felt happy to know that at least one of her close hufflepuff friends made it. So you bet, Selina did follow her around like a lost puppy!

Weekend with the Grays: The welcome ball

Selina Fawley was a pure-blooded witch who attended a lot of boring galas. She knew many people in the room due to her family. This time, however, for the first time ever she decided to be selfish and just have fun. She spent the whole event with her soon-to-be husband, Marty. They danced together during the whole night! Selina felt happier than ever (and the prettiest in her blue dress, under her fiancé's loving glares).

With Primrose's fake smiles, Nadia felt nervous. She was determined to make her best friend happy so the first thing she did, was to steal her and bring her to the dance floor. Jesse knew Nadia's plan and he was very understanding! Nadia prepared two dresses for the night. After she finished her dance with Primrose, she changed into a gorgeous white dress. Jesse then gently invited her back into the crowd and they had a great time together.

Weekend with the Grays: "You are cordially invited..."

Selina Fawley was surprised when she received her owl from Primrose Gray. She knew the girl – who doesn't? They were both pure-blood witches and often met at boring events. But really, they did not talk with each other that much. Not even during their Hogwarts years. Selina was really nervous about attending. She hated fancy parties and was totally not close to most of the guests. Yet, she still decided to go. To her, it was another opportunity to spend some time with her fiancé, Marty. Mister Gyllenfeldt was not invited directly, however Primrose did mention in her letter that she's looking forward to see the couple. So naturally, Marty had no choice other than keeping her company!

A time when they received flowers.

their pure-blood families were excited for their upcoming wedding. it was a big event, after all! everybody who mattered got an invitation.

marty was annoyed by his mother's nagging and hated how luxurious the whole thing was. deep down, all he wanted was a small ceremony with his and selina's actual friends.

speaking of selina... marty could tell that his sweetheart was anxious. selina tried to hide it with polite smiles, being the perfect daughter that she always is. but marty could see how she just pretended. it broke his heart.

it was a week before their wedding that marty asked for mr and mrs fawley's permission to bring selina on a short walk by the lake near the fawley mansion.

selina felt like collapsing once they were out of sight. she was exhausted yet super thankful for her fiancé.

marty gently held selina's hand, pressed a loving kiss on top of it before giving the girl a bouquet of freshly picked flowers!

marty prepared. he wanted to surprise selina. and it worked. the love of his life smiled widely and stared adoringly at the gift.

funny thing is how they didn't want the arranged marriage at first (they never said it, their families are important people...) but they both catched feelings at the same time! they just fell in love, it was like miracle 😭

maybe because it's the 1800s i feel like verbal when they're in public and only physical when they're alone.

What’s the wedding like? Who attends?

bunch of important people so it was a bit awkward for them. the ceremony was more like a show off for the parents? 🤔 also, Selina was probably shy as hell, blushing every time Marty looked at her hfjjsdhdhdh

What’s their relationship with each other’s families?

oh boy, you didn't hold it back by asking this. honestly speaking i think the in-laws are happy with the situation but they don't care much about actually putting effort into knowing their children's partner. like, they're just glad it works out and they can keep their blood line clean.

What are their favorite things to do together?

before their wedding, i'm sure they weren't allowed to do many things on their own as it is the 1800s. so probably taking a walk in the fawley's garden or marty just casually talking about things on his mind and selina sharing her opinion while being followed by maids or house elves.

after their wedding basically everything. travelling the muggle way, gardening together, reading the newspaper and discussing some issues, playing with their kids, maybe even attempting to bake fresh bread.

What kind of nicknames do they call each other?

the question is about nicknames but i immediately thought of selina saying "kasper!" in a serious tone when he says something naughty as a joke AHAHAHA as for nicknames, i feel like they use sweetheart, darling, angel, etc. without realising it. like they just use these casually while talking with each other.

How many kids do they have, if any? What are they like?

we definitely have to discuss this to be on the same page AHAHAHA okay but it's a bit mature topic. once again: it's the 1800s and even if they have magic- did they have any birth control? it's such a DEEP topic!?!?!?!?

BUT if you want me to answer simply, not overthinking and analysing the situation i would say maybe three or four! they would be cheeky, playful and outspoken people. very outgoing and understanding. martilina would explain them how blood status is not important but also tell them how society is and what to expect from other pure bloods. but they would raise them with love and actually spend a lot of time together!

How do they celebrate holidays?

in their own home, peacefully! no fancy balls or anything like that. of course, they would let their in-laws to stay if they wanted to come over, but they would keep it low and focus on their kids and each other <3

Who’s more likely to convince the other to come back to sleep in the morning?

selina! i kinda feel like marty has a lot on his shoulder so he wakes up early every day. but selina manages to convince him to stay in bed more, cuddle a bit and help him relax to take his mind off of his worries.
