Today is this annual celebration in Poland centred about the most popular foundation, WOŚP. It's been active for 30 years and it's been raising money for medical care, mainly for children but also for adults; the medical equipment funded by them saved my life when I was a baby.

Today if you tweet hashtag #MastercardGrazWOSP on Twitter, each first tweet/retweet means another grant given by one of Poland's leading banks. If you have Twitter and would like to help, you're very much welcome to. This year money is being raised for diagnostics and treatment of children with visual disorders - tea anon

Hey fam, there’s this thing in Poland happening right now - The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOSP), and if you retweet this MasterCard tweet, they will donate 5 pln (1-2? usd / 1.2 eur) per first tweet/retweet of each user. This year (it’s been 29 yrs now!) WOSP is fundraising for pediatric laryngology, otorhinolaryngology, and head diagnostics.

So basically, there’s a chance that by retweeting THIS TWEET RIGHT HERE (or tweeting anything with #MastercardGrazWOSP tag) you will help some kid to get diagnosed early enough to intervene and, idk, save their hearing enough so they will hear the beauty of Dean saying Y yo a ti.

The lovely people at Mastercard decided to once again help. If you go to Twitter today (12.01.2020) and tweet or retweet #MastercardGrazWOSP till 23:59 GMT+1 you'll help raise money! For each tweet or retweet of the hashtag (which is once again #MastercardGrazWOSP) mastercard will donate 5 PLN.

Now, you may ask, what it is I'm helping to raise money for. Well, WOŚP or the English version of the name - GOCC is the biggest, non-governmental, non-profit, charity organization in Poland. The GOCC Foundation holds American Heart Association certification to provide courses in CPR and AED, and for the use of high technology for medical lifesaving. The GOCC aims to support health care in Poland by purchase of state of the art medical equipment for Polish hospitals and clinics and by establishing and running six medical programmes and one educational programme. The foundation supports paediatric and geriatric wards, furnishing them in both complex medical devices such as MRI scanners, and providing long-term care units with anti-bedsore mattresses and beds. Since April 2016 the GOCC ranks on the top of the list as the most trusted public entity according to Brand Asset Valuator and is the second strongest brand in Poland in the ranking compiled by Millard Brown and Young & Rubicam agency. The GOCC foundation organizes the biggest open-air free entry music festival in Europe – Pol'and'Rock Festival. The GOCC foundation offers first aid & team-building courses, which are open to all adult members of public.

This year they raise funds to finance the purchase of medical equipment for paediatric surgery and subsequent treatment. They will focus on general surgery, cardiac surgery and neurosurgery. The want to improve the conditions of operating theaters, intensive care units and diagnostic imaging departments.

Although healthcare in Poland is technically free (delivered through a publicly funded health care system) and almost everyone has it, things aren't that cool. A lot of the hospitals need renovation, more medical staff etc etc. Thanks to WOŚP they don't have to worry when it comes to the most expensive part - the modern equipment needed to provide better care, mostly for Children and senior citizens.

Now, you may also ask, why should I even care? Well, for starters, if you have a heart, you probably will. Second of all, WOŚP is hated by our very conservative, right-wing leaders who are also Trump's ass kissers, just because the leader of WOŚP tells it how it is and calls out their hypocrisy. So the more money for WOŚP, the more you piss off xenophobic, misogynistic, homo- and transphobic backward fuckwitts, who think that church should rule this country and everyone should be Christian catholic and Trump is their best friend.
