If we all had only known that this would be Ronnie's final solo album. Released in 2004, not too long after I began hosting my college radio show, it marks the return of guitarist Craig Goldy, who's seen play with Ronnie a year earlier in Madison Square Garden. This is a very good record that is recommend to all Dio fans. My favorite track, that I played TO DEATH on my show for a while, was "The Man Who Would Be King". Ronnie's voice is absolutely on FIRE here. I'm still very bothered by the fact that he's gone, as bothered as I was nearly 12 years ago, when @waffle_jones told me the news. Hoje completa 16 anos do último play da carreira solo do mestre Dio "Master of the Moon" produzido por ele mesmo e distribuído pela Sanctuary/SPV. Trata-se de pouco mais de 45 minutos e marca o retorno do guitarrista Craig Goldy, que ajudou a compor boa parte do play, além de Jeff Pilson no baixo (Foreigner e Lich Mob), o grandioso Simon Wright (AC/DC, UFO) na bateria e Scott Warren nos teclados. Apesar que Rudy Sarzo assumiu o baixo nas turnês. É um bom disco, muito acima do "Killing the Dragon", e que marca o reencontro do mestre Dio com músicas mais pesados ao melhor estilo "Dehumanizer" pois trata-se de um álbum bem mais arrastado e sombrio que os anteriores, talvez fruto da consciência quanto ao seu estado de saúde, apesar de abrir o play com uma faixa mais próxima de um "hardão" bem rápida, até quase tradicional em seus discos. Mestre Dio era um monstro fez o disco praticamente sozinho, em termos de produção, e é limpinho, pesado e todos os instrumentos perfeitamente audíveis e no ponto certo. Até o teclado brilha, bem climático e sem se sobrepor. A dupla da faixa título e "The End of the World" (com um curioso riff eicidiciano) se comunicam e trazem um ótimo momento de audição com um belo trabalho de baixo/bateria. Craig é um baita de um guitarrista criativo e técnico. Faz milagres sem uma guitarra base para apoiar, prova disto é a ótima "Shivers". Ainda destaco as ótimas "I am", "Death by love" e uma de minhas preferidas que é "In Dreams".
