I totally forgot to mention some iconic moments from the SAG Awards!
SAG: https://youtu.be/xKZQXsbe6yI?si=k8QTKsDubexYm9pG
1:31 Noah brings up some wise words from Matthew Modine.
Check out Finn @ 1:44 ; he leans in, to look into Noah’s eyes (notice caleb’s hands: cut it finn)
Right after that, Finn asks Millie for permission to touch or stand next to Noah, and even though she feels a little uneasy since they’re on stage, she says okay.
Then at 2:06, Finn finds a way to touch Noah by running his hands over Noah's tux.
I miss the old Finn… the rebel without a cause. This is what I meant when I said Finn is super romantic—his little gestures are real tell-tale signs.
Myspace correction*: Maya mentioned she’d take her dad out of the top 8 to make space for Finn because both Joe and Maya felt Finn would be upset if he wasn’t in their top 8.
I’ll stop now. No more torment!
Manifesto addendum number 4! 😁😁😁

YES PLEASEEE SHARE im a fake ass cinephile too it’s alright…. every movie i log (the rare tiems i do) is always like 5 stars lmao
FAVORITE MOVIES IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER
None of these are based on "cinematic merit". If i laughed, it's here. If it's pretty, it's here. If I've referenced it ever in my art, it's because I liked it. I'm not exactly a shining exemplar of """"clean media consumption""""
I'M NOT PUTTING ANY OF THE CREEP FILMS BECAUSE IF I COULD REDO MY ENJOYMENT OF THE FRANCHISE I'D JUST SAY WATCH THE SERIES
Feel free to rec!! My general bit is that I absolutely adore B&W/Silents about boats or a nautical vibe lol.
TOP 4 EVER: The Lighthouse - umm OBVIOUSLY. just divinely beautiful in every sense of the word. tragic, lovely, and, above all else, world-shatteringly haunted. not SCARY, HAUNTED La Chinoise (The Chinese) - i think seeing opinions on asian topics (even with someone as divisive as mao) is just fun. captures the pure misguided adolescent confusion of being a young revolutionary well Vision Quest - really good film to watch for a lot of demographics. it follows that "coming into manhood" story you see with a lot of sports flicks but in a way that feels a lot more connected to being young. also, matthew modine! Jaws - what could i possibly fucking say. just awesome. it's so iconic that it loses what would have made it scary and now it's like a comfort movie to me
THE REST:
Loaded Weapon 1 Neither the Sea Nor the Sand If…Dog…Rabbit… Masculin Feminin Streamers Society Cutthroat Island Birdy Jaws 2 Multiple Maniacs Female Trouble Wet Hot American Summer Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle Naked Lunch Videodrome Love Affair Orphans The Ghost Ship The Love Light The Navigator The Boat Sherlock Jr. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou Scarface (Both the 80s and 30s versions but mostly the 30s) Married to the Mob Eyes Without a Face Secretary Linda Lovelace for President Memphis Belle MAS*H Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster Escape from New York Full Metal Jacket The Tin Star The Gay Divorcee A Perfect Couple Any Given Sunday Slapshot The Driller Killer Johnny Got His Gun The Sand Pebbles Stopover Tokyo Pierrot le Fou Internal Affairs Black Coal, Thin Ice The Kid My Night at Maud's Birdy

Many know of Full Metal Jacket as the movie with the chilling scene of Vincent D’Onofrio and the trademark Kubrick stare; but the film is more than that.
This is film in which we are shown the horrors of war, boot camp and the impact combat has on someone. And with Stanley Kubrick at the helm you know he will not shy away from showing us what would be a realistic take on that.
The film has been debated by many as being like two films in one. The first half showing us the men as they begin training at Parris Island and the brutality of what that can be. It’s here we are introduced to three crucial characters in the story; Private Joker played by Matthew Modine, Private Cowboy played by Arliss Howard and Private Gomer Pyle played wonderfully by Vincent D’Onofrio.
At the boot camp no one has it worse than Pyle who struggles with the most basic tasks and is physically unable to do the obstacle course due to his larger size. Their drill Sargent Sgt. Hartman played by R. Lee Ermey makes sure to punish the men in the platoon for any errors made by Pyle which results in a mass hatred for him. That and the treatment from Hartman leads to Pyle’s breaking point and the most shocking part of the film which is accompanied by an equally disturbing score.
After those scenes the film goes from an unsettling, eerie character analysis to a look at war through the eyes of the young men. They joke with each other, dehumanize the locals, make obscene remarks and sleep with the woman they can get. It still shows the realities of the war but the feeling you get between boot camp and the actual battles is something that makes many take note of the first half of the film that makes people feel is the stronger portion.
However I will say the last few moments of the film do take it back to that feeling again, this can be attributed to the score having and similar sound to that of the most iconic scene and giving you this overall unsettling feeling that you wish you didn’t see this happening.
Now of all the things I can say it is a damn shame Vincent D’Onofrio did not get many award nominations for his performance in this film because it is definitely the stand out of the film itself. The soundtrack was filled with lots of the classics from the 60’s and the score itself as I said had moments where it was just unnerving with the synth tracks and the low bass line.
Another thing I noticed is the use of color for conveying the tone at different points; in the beginning the fear is lit in tones of a cyan blue and lit as if by the moonlight in an old horror film, the second half the next pivotal moment is lit with a fire orange and it stays that way until the credits role; this is a way to showcase the character completely being changed by war.
It’s worth checking for the performances and the storytelling.

It seems like they like using actors from popular franchises. Bob's actor was Sam from LOTR, Viktor creel's actor played Freddy Krueger in Elm Street. I mean you can also count Winona too bc the reason they got her for the role was bc she was a well liked actress and wanted to feature her for the show. Sarah connor's actress makes sense i think they might use her for the role of a military character. Also yeah , fuck netflix.
winona ryder, while iconic, definitely was not in a position in her career at the time to be pulling big projects. like i get what youre saying but after the whole shoplifting debacle she was basically blacklisted from hollywood and stranger things wasnt meant to be the huge hit it is now, she was very much still struggling her way back (and, as made evident by lack of nominations for stranger things, is still not seen favorably in the industry)
but anyway yeah they definitely love to get older actors involved, cary elwes and paul reiser and matthew modine also included. its just theyve made multiple terminator references at this point that casting an actor from the franchise is going overboard at this point lmao
would be an absolute slay if she came in to play a relative of billys I KNOW ITS NOT REALISTIC I DONT CARE!!!!

'...06. Oppenheimer (2023)
Runtime: 3 hr., his longest film to date.
Press Release: J. Robert Oppenheimer was a world-renowned physicist whose most infamous creation changed the world. He also had a complicated personal life, more connections to the Communist Party than the American government would like, and a habit of pissing the wrong people off. This is his story… but don’t call it a biopic.
Cast: Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, Benny Safdie, Dylan Arnold, Gustaf Skarsgård (yes, the brother of the others!), David Krumholtz, Matthew Modine, David Dastmalchian, Jack Quaid, Josh Peck, Dane DeHaan, Alden Ehrenreich, Jason Clarke, James D’Arcy, Tony Goldwyn, Alex Wolff, Scott Grimes, Matthias Schweighöfer, Christopher Denham, Gary Oldman, Harry Groener, James Remar, Tim DeKay, James Urbaniak… Name a white male actor, and he’s probably on this list.
“Yeah, But Is Michael Caine In It?”: Tragically no — at this point, it seems that within the Nolan-verse, the role of Paternal Voice of Reason has been passed down from the semi-retired icon to Kenneth Branagh. (Okay, yes, Branagh was the bad guy in Tenet, but he was a smart bad guy.) Oppenheimer gives Branagh a few meaty scenes as Niels Bohr, a stabilizing presence in chaotic times. (Physics pun only vaguely intended.)
Career Charge: Given the size of the cast, it’s not shocking that there’s a lot to talk about here. This is Cillian Murphy’s sixth collaboration with Nolan, and it’s going to be fascinating to see how this incredible spotlight for his talents affects his career going forward. He certainly seems like a shoo-in for all the Lead Actor nominations come awards season, and deservedly so, as he brings such a depth of understanding to the role.
In addition, David Krumholtz announces loudly that his skills as a character actor have never been sharper. And while Josh Hartnett isn’t a name that’s come up a lot lately over the past few years, but the former teen heartthrob draws a lot of well-deserved attention for his steady work as Francis Lawrence, Oppy’s cautious collaborator. Let this just be the beginning of the Hartnett-sance!
Finally, congratulations, Robert Downey Jr., on your upcoming Oscar for Supporting Actor. It’s well-deserved.
Best Shot: Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema uses such an elegant eye to capture the full might of the Trinity test, a spectacle of light that brings with it both awe and dread. Yet of all the shots from this sequence, it’s the one below which deserves special consideration: A man gazing directly at the destruction he hath wrought, rendered almost inhuman by his protective goggles and the burning light. If one shot sums up the film as a whole, it’s this one.
Bathroom Breaks Are For the Weak: Whether you’re in the theater or at home, three hours is a long time to spend away from the facilities. But in no way should you consider stepping outside or hitting pause before the completion of the Trinity Test, at the very least. To do so would mean interrupting the film’s steady momentum towards its most anticipated moment, the long-awaited fireworks factory (quite literally) — you don’t realize how intensely you’re waiting for the moment until it hits you all at once.
After that point though, though… might be an okay time to take a quick break.
Analysis: There’s one moment towards the beginning of Oppenheimer that always makes me think to myself, “J. Robert Oppenheimer has to think about his entire life before he testifies.” But beyond that one moment, it’s impressive how well Nolan dodges biopic tropes to create something that borrows from multiple genres — but only the best bits. Its greatest magic trick isn’t the Trinity test, after all, but the way it elegantly shifts into political thriller mode, complete with a worthy villain.
Its pacing deserves some debate, especially because that aforementioned gear shift has its compelling points, but there’s a real danger of exhausting the audience. However, this approach to the material is more fascinating the more times you see it, with Nolan putting everything he has into examining systems of power, and what it means to be terrified by your own creation...'
