AINON - Drought - spiritual jazz meets modern classical in a quartet led by cellist Aino Juutilainen (We Jazz)
We Jazz Records presents the debut album of AINON, a Helsinki-based ensemble founded by cellist-composer Aino Juutilainen, released 4 September. On "Drought", the four-piece plays music influenced by jazz, contemporary music and classical music, all morphed together into a highly inspired musical vision. The music of AINON might be best described as "spiritual avantgarde jazz", with original compositions and the individual voices of the four players both playing an integral part in the music. In addition to Juutilainen, the quartet includes Satu-Maija Aalto (violin / viola), Suvi Linnovaara (saxophone / clarinet / flute) and Joonas Leppänen (of Alder Ego, drums). The quartet has a knack for creating strong moods and performing their original material with remarkable intensity. Mood-wise, the album ranges from serene, almost ambient-like passages to moments of strong improvisation and explosive energy. Aino Juutilainen, cello / Satu-Maija Aalto, violin & viola / Suvi Linnovaara, saxophone, clarinet & flute / Joonas Leppänen, drums Design based on original artwork "Wanderings in the Innermost" (2017) by Maija Lassila Design by Matti Nives

Das alte leid, tier, Rein Raus, Mein Teil, Moskau, Stein um Stein, Frühling in Paris, Feuerräder, Stripped, Mein Land please...? 😄 have a nice day.☺️
Das Alte Leid; Something you want to try - First thing that popped up in my head is that I always wanted to try bungee jumping and honestly, I still do!
Tier; Your Spirit Animal - A mouse is an animal that I can relate to and also one that appears in my life quite often, being a sign that helped me with figuring out a lot of stuff, that’s why I consider it my spirit animal.
Rein Raus; The craziest thing you’ve ever done - Probably confessing my feelings to my ex-crush a few years ago, despite knowing that those feelings were never going to be mutual and that nothing would work out between us. I don’t know, I’m not really that kind of person who does crazy things, maybe this counts as one.
Mein Teil; A random fact about yourself - When I was a nine-year, I ruined the tip of my tongue by cutting it with nail clippers (does it count as a crazy thing too?). It doesn’t stop me from being able to touch the tip of my nose with it though.
Moskau; If you met a member of Rammstein, what would you do? - Most likely would freak out and nothing else. xD But hopefully I would manage to approach them so I could say hi and tell them I appreciate their work.
Stein um Stein; Favorite mythological god/goddess; - Loki, a Norse god of mischief.
Frühling in Paris; tell us about your favorite memory - I actually have a lot of those, but if I have to pick one, it’s going for a trip to London last year - it was my dream for a long time and I’m glad it came true. I admired visiting all the cool places there, and also it was great because I was able to spend a day with my Internet friend.
Feuerräder; top three inspiring people? - At this moment of my life, it’s Flake Lorenz, Matty Cardarople and Marina Diamandis for me.
Stripped; a flaw that you love - when it comes to personal flaws, I recently started loving my indecision, which applies to many areas of my life. I’ve seen it as a very bad thing for a long time but actually the constant change that it makes me go through can sometimes be a fun thing. For other people’s flaws, my beloved one would be a defect of vision - it appeared in my head as a linguistic joke since in my native language the same word can be used to describe a flaw and a defect of vision [it’s wada and wada wzroku], but aside of that, I indeed like it about some people that they have to wear glasses, even if in some situation it’s bad or uncomfortable, so I guess it can be my answer.
Mein Land; describe your average day - I get up at 7am, make myself a cup of tea and a nice breakfast, then get ready and leave for the bus. I reach the university around 9am and spend from 4 to 9 hours there. Then I get back home and do as much productive things as I can before going to bed again (which is usually quite soon); I mostly read and write, either for university purposes or for myself. Finally, I go to sleep around 11:30 in the evening.
Thanks for the ask! Have a nive day too! :)
