It’s obvious there is an intentional MEDIA BLACKOUT taking place around the whole region.

Even more than this, there are “special police” in the form of foreign vehicles that wouldn’t normally be used as police cars along with NG, stopping people.

On top of that, there is a blacked out fence that is being erected around the whole parameter.

I may be too stressed to articulate this clearly but I am going to try.

While Hawai'i and Maui are trending I'm going to share this link. Its a FAQ about Hawai'i's statehood and the situation Hawai'i is in at the moment. There are people who want to be part of the U.S in Hawai'i and there are people who don't, but the people of Hawai'i were never, at any point, given an option to choose.

If you want to help Hawai'i and it's people but can't donate, spread this word. Help educate people. Make Hawai'i as the tropical paradise be replaced with the sovereign nation stolen by the u.s.

It is subtropical, meaning it is much more vulnerable to arid climates caused by climate change.

It has been systematically stripped of its native food harvesting practices and any ability to farm and self sustain. It has been systematically stripped of its previous industries. Maui used to export milk and cattle. That's all been taken away.

The islands since the 1800s were exploited as plantations, burning sugar cane and growing pineapples which are not native, diverting the water and depleting the water table.

Lahaina burned because of these practices. Because the native people were no longer allowed to govern their lands.

We as local people know that tourism is bad because this systematic destruction has happened in living memory. Within my grandparent's lifetimes, within my lifetime. I have watched this island crumble at the hands of mainland startups, hoping to take people on whale watching tours that cut the whales with their boats while people aren't allowed to have a ferry between islands. People create ziplines and tours through lands that used to belong to local people for farming and cattle. Now they're bought out for photos and hikes the local people can never afford. Hundreds of jobs have been lost in the past thirty years. Mass migrations to the mainland have been made by local people, myself included because we can no longer afford to stay on the island where we were born. Working three jobs is not enough to cover the rent because the houses are bought up by mainland people who then turn these houses into vacation rentals and charge hundreds a night. Right now these very homes are being paid for by the government so that Lahaina people have somewhere to stay and it's costing the state millions that people in the mainland are reeping.

People ask why tourism is bad. Because there are people alive today on Maui that have watched the foreign industries destroy everything. Because people alive today know what used to be and knew how to take care of the ecosystem so that this kind of calamity didn't happen. Lahaina was not just fertile. They had canals and waterways. Rivers that they would drive boats through to go from one part of town to another. It was more like Venice than this desert you see in pictures.

And do your own research. The information is out there. There are two Hawai'i's. The one you see as a tourist, and the REAL one. The one we need to protect.

Let Hawaiians have their land back. Let them restore the water to the land so we can prevent further catastrophe. Tell people about REAL Hawaii.

While strawberries certainly are a reddish-pink color and are roundish in shape, the origin of the name “Strawberry Moon” has nothing to do with the Moon’s hue or appearance.

• June's full Moon is typically the last full moon of spring or the first of summer. The June Full Moon will be extraordinary. For the first time since 1985, Full Moon happens precisely on the summer solstice, when the Sun is highest up. The history of Litha reveals its deep connections to ancient agricultural societies & their reliance on the sun's power. Celebrated as part of the Wheel of the Year, Litha symbolizes the balance between light & darkness. Throughout history  customs such as bonfires, herb gathering & the construction of sunwheels have marked this festival. Today, Litha continues to be celebrated by various communities, with gatherings at sacred sites & private rituals in natural settings. It serves as a reminder of our connection with nature and the cycles of life.

• The traditions of Litha appear to be borrowed from many cultures. Most ancient cultures celebrated the summer solstice in some way such as the Celts celebrated Litha with hilltop bonfires & dancing. Many people attempted to jump over or through the bonfires for good luck. Other European traditions included setting large wheels on fire & rolling them down a hill into a body of water.

Litha is often associated with Midsummer, a celebration that extends beyond the pagan and Wiccan traditions. Midsummer festivities are observed in many cultures around the world, including Scandinavian countries where it holds a prominent place in their cultural heritage. Midsummer dances, bonfires, & feasts are integral parts of these celebrations, often accompanied by folklore and traditional rituals that honor the sun's energy and the abundance of nature during this time.

The summer solstice is the longest day of the year & in some traditions, Litha is when The Sun(The God) is symbolically at it's peak time of power & the World will soon be ripe to harvest. It is also when The Goddess is pregnant with The God who is to be reborn at Yule.

• In the Northern Hemisphere the Summer Solstice occurs when the Sun reaches its highest and northernmost points in the sky. It marks the start of summer in the northern half of the globe. (In contrast, the June solstice in the Southern Hemisphere is when the Sun is at its lowest point in the sky, marking the start of winter.)

Some also believe the history & spirit of Litha revolve around two deities, The Oak King & The Holly King. In Wiccan and Neo-Pagan traditions, each King rules the Earth for half of the year. From Yule to Litha, the Oak King rules. On Litha, the two battled for the crown and it is then that the Holly King triumphs. The Holly King will rule through fall until Yule, and the cycle will begin again.

• Vestalia- June 7th -15th

Was a Roman religious festival in honor of Vesta, the goddess of the hearth & the burning continuation of the sacred fire of Rome. It was held from 7–15 June & was reserved as a women's-only event. Domestic & family life in general were represented by the festival of the goddess of the house & of the spirits of the storechamber — Vesta & the Penates .

On the first day of festivities the penus Vestae (sanctum sanctorum of the temple of Vesta which was usually curtained off) was opened for the only time during the year, at which women offered sacrifices. As long as the curtain remained open, mothers could come, barefoot and disheveled, to leave offerings to the goddess in exchange for a blessing to them and their family.

For the last day, the penus Vestae was solemnly closed, the Flaminica Dialis observed mourning & the temple was subjected to a purification called stercoratio: the filth was swept from the temple and carried next by the route called clivus Capitolinus and then into the Tiber.

meo helps directly with rent/mortgage assistance and transportation. i personally vouch for their impact in the maui community. i see their buses on my street (rural, and where no other public transportation is available) and have been assisted by their programs. hcf is also partly funding my own education. they provide many opportunities for hawaiian individuals and families.

healing maui will be a long, arduous process. think about families that must be housed, children that must be enrolled in schools, and the enormous mental health toll on people who witnessed the horrific tragedy.

also consider giving to maui behavioral health. emotional scars are just as worthy of healing.

What are some ways you employ your wealth to help others? Do others in the family do the same?

We each have our own pet and preferred causes. I do not force anyone in our family to do anything with the money I see as rightfully theirs as a member of our family, but to a one, we recognize that we have more than is necessary for many lifetimes and much of it winds up given away. It is, therefore, difficult to detail each and every single gift—though I do get most of them during tax season—in a manner that would be appropriate for a short blog post. Esme and I give away around 50-60% of our income, both out of desire and necessity—it simply makes us harder to track. Over fifty years ago now I gave Esme the gift of founding a charity which addresses domestic violence on a variety of fronts, from operating shelters, to training crisis counselors, to providing direct aid to partners in flight. The organization, which is quite large, runs off its endowment, and needless to say therefore, the initial gift was quite substantial.

As for the others:

Alice's philanthropy tends to focus on the arts; museums, music, dance, theater. Jasper tends to give money toward issues pertinent to veterans. Rosalie directs a great deal of her giving toward charities which deal directly with children; the March of Dimes, for instance, but also her own foundation which works with children with genetic abnormalities. Emmett has kept up the tradition Edward started of directing money back toward his homeland of Appalachia, and is especially fond of the Dollywood Foundation.

Edward and Bella do most of their giving to organizations surrounding education, as it was an area they did not need to benefit from, and Edward also gives to the arts though usually in ways which directly benefit children who don't have access to things like music lessons. And they give a good deal of their money to causes associated with the needs of the Native American community. Despite our general peace brokered by our granddaughter, the Quileute nation has specifically asked that we not give directly to them, as they don't wish to receive charity from us, which I can understand. But with the tribe's permission, we give to other communities as is pertinent. At the moment, that next direction is looking to be the Native Hawaiians displaced in Maui. And finally, despite all the years intervening and my own somewhat fraught relationship with the church and its people, I still direct a steady tithe to the global Anglican Communion as I have for all my life. Old habits, I suppose.

An update

I know I said I was gonna try to be more active on here but life kinda got in the way.

As many of you probably know, there was a devastating wildfire that tore through the island of Maui in Hawai'i leaving billions of dollars in damage, many people without homes, businesses destroyed and as of now over 100 people dead. I made several trips in the aftermath of the fire between the West Coast and Kahului as part of my airline's decision to send aid and evacuate people from the island. All in all, I've made about 7 round trip flights between San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Kahului helping as many people as possible get aid that they need and, trying to evacuate as many people as possible. I'm back for the time being with a few days before resuming a normal flight schedule, so I hope to be back to constantly obsessing over Tarlos (as per usual), writing more of my fic (I'm currently at a little over 100 pages!), and watching and rewatching the "Red, White, and Royal Blue" movie!
