Thanks for the tags @chaotictarlos and @alrightbuckaroo! You're right, I do have somethings to share. Ignoring the fact that it's technically Monday, here is a new short sneak peek from my WIP "Take My Breath Away", my Tarlos Fighter Pilots AU. ********

“What?” Carlos said, when the silence shifted from comfortable to something much more intense–nothing bad, but nothing quite as simple as companionship. “Hmm?” “You’re looking at me funny.” “Am I?  And here I thought I was just looking at you.” Carlos swallowed, a sudden case of nerves making him feel as anxious as he had on his first date ever, and all because TK was looking at him as though he were seeing him for the first time. Trying to muster up a bit of bravado, Carlos scoffed and settled back in his seat.  “Oh yeah?  And what do you see?” TK grazed his thumb over the top of Carlos’s knuckles and holy shit, TK might as well have been stroking his palm between his legs.  Heat infused Carlos’s body, flames licking along his veins as the other man's eyes roamed over Carlos's face and down his neck, then he licked his lips, making Carlos squirm a little in his seat. “I see a man I wasn’t looking for.  A man I didn’t even know was there, until right now.  And Carlos?” “Yeah?” “I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be than sitting with him in this car right now, holding his hand.”

Have you heard the rumors that Mundie used to be a toon before becoming a cog?

we kinda had a talk about it back before we were hired by cogs.. he was really upset and i was really worried about him.. he thought i wasnt gonna accept him because he was a toon

he cried so much that night.. and i told him honestly and i still stand by it even today. it doesnt matter if he was a toon once, or that hes a suit now.. hes the only person who’s shown me any kind of compassion since i gained consciousness. hes the only one who protected me, or showed me it doesnt matter how physically beyond repair i am, that i am still worth effort..

it was a weird night because we talked about so much.. in the end we came out a family and havent really gone back since. i wouldnt trade mundie for anything in the whole wide world

So another i hate america moment, turns out my insurance won't cover the inhaler i need to y'know, breathe, unless i get a preauth for it (proooove, prooove to us u cannot breathe without this special powder) so tonight we are drawing gojo while being so short on breath it's dizzying and my head a lil numb

y'see, mundie's been asked how he feels about the rest of the litigation team, but i kinda wanna add my two cents! kilo is REALLY fun to be around! maybe it's because we're close in age or something, and "fun" is subjective, but we just like to get into the same type of mischief! a little bit too much, since we've probably gotten write-ups at least thrice for all our mischief. oops. (we may or may not have a temporary ban from mozzerella styx.)

courtney is also really nice to hang around with! she's so smart! she helps me a lot with some suit law cases in spots where i haven't gotten a lot of practice. she also helps me practice my cheats! courtney is also really fun to gossip with. she knows SO much more than you'd expect!

then there's barry! he's... kind of scary. even after all this time he still scares me a lot but i try spending time with him anyway!! face your fears, right? he has a lot of really good literature suggestions, and i like to do off-the-cuff literary analysis with him, even if he doesn't say that much back.

That’s a great question, um, I don’t know to be honest. I’m in the middle of Thursday War as of right now, so I haven’t finished it or gotten to the point of having ships within it yet. I’m not exclusively self-interest stuff with her and I’m open to ships within the fandom, however it’s easier for me to write with self-insert because of my thought process, so it’s why I mainly write reader-insert stuff. I wish I had a better answer for you 😭

Work in Progress Wednesday

Okay so this is to make up for all the WIP Wednesdays and Seven Sentence Saturdays etc that I have been tagged in but missed/haven't had the time to post about, so thank you to the numerous people who tagged me in those. Here is an absolutely crazy scene from my upcoming Take My Breath Away Tarlos fighter pilots AU. @chaotictarlos got a sneak preview of this a while ago and they can hype you up even more.

The next few moments passed by incredibly fast, almost without enough time for anyone to react.  Out of the corner of the screen showing the feed from TK’s cockpit came a big black blur whipping across the screen, and Carlos knew instantly there was something wrong.  Suddenly, there was a loud bang and the feed jerked to the side as the audio feed started broadcasting high pitched warning signs.

“Oh shit,” Marjan said, her hands flying to her mouth.

“Birdstrike!” TK’s voice came over the feed, still calm but with what sounded like an edge of panic.  “Losing power!”

The plane started to fall away, its altitude alerts becoming more and more prominent as the F-18 sped toward the ground, seemingly out of control.

“Altitude dropping.  Controls lost.”

Carlos could feel his heart practically stopping as he watched the scene unfold.  Fuck.  This couldn’t be happening.  It had to be some kind of mistake.  The silence in the room was no longer rife with tension and excitement, but horror and dread, as the Hornet dropped ten thousand feet in a matter of seconds.

Carlos felt like he was watching his worst nightmare, but at the same time, he couldn’t look away.  He was helpless to do anything, and he felt his gut twist around on itself so many times that he wanted to vomit.  He kept replaying their last conversation in his mind, wishing that they could’ve left it differently.  He remembered the night on the beach, that time they stared into each other's eyes as they laid in bed.  He tried to remember the little things about TK, before everything between them fell to shit.

“Lieutenant Strand!” Judd’s voice came over the feed, shocking Carlos out of his thoughts.  “You need to eject immediately!”  Carlos knew that moment was coming.  Pulling the ejection lever at the base of the pilot’s seat was always a last resort in the event of an emergency.  But when the options were to plummet headfirst into the ground or blow yourself out of the cockpit and hope like hell all your limbs were intact and you survived, there really wasn’t much choice.

“Come on, TK!”  He found himself saying.  “Eject!”  Carlos knew there was little to no time remaining to get himself out of the plane.  He was still fighting to keep it in the air, but as the milliseconds ticked by, the plane's numerous systems continued to fail, and the screen was filled by the sight of the ground getting closer and closer.

“You’re at three thousand!  Eject Lieutenant!  Eject!”  Judd basically screamed through the feed again.  Time was running out, he was already at the point of no return.

Suddenly, there was a loud sound and the feed of TK’s jet went black.  Carlos could feel his heart drop dramatically as he looked over at the screen showing the feed from Judd’s plane.  He watched in horror as he saw TK’s F-18 slam straight into the ground and explode into a ball of flames and debris.  Marjan gasped audibly as the rest of the hangar went silent for a moment or two, and then the emergency sirens blasted through the base.

Chaos erupted all around Carlos, most of the trainees backed away from the screens to watch as the search and rescue teams began to load up in their helicopters to prepare to head out.  Carlos was rooted to the ground, his eyes glued to the feed from Judd’s plane as he circled the crash site.  He frantically searched the area for any signs of a parachute, any sign that TK made it out of the jet before it hit the ground, but instead, all he saw was nothing.

TK was gone. ***

Haha, I’m glad someone benefits from my inability to sleep on planes.

I’m flying again today (a 55 minute flight from Bordeaux to Madrid and then a 7-8 hour one elsewhere), so hopefully I’ll get some inspiration.
