Found a new piece of cardio equipment to play on, high incline treadmill. Screwed around with the settings and found the holy grail, exercise that stresses my heart before my legs quit. I was having a blast listening to my heart explode in me when it started getting crazy irregular. No other symptoms so I just pushed on and on, I loved it. I can't wait to do this again and again.
First file gets irregular at 4:10 ish
Same workout, different round of settings. Gets especially irregular around 1 min and around 3 mins

1/13/24 Treadmill
Working on experimenting with different low impact ways to increase VO2 by increasing HR up into zone 5. Today was on treadmill, working up to a 5 incline and speed of 3.2 mph over about 10 minutes, then walking that for about 5 minutes. Treadmill is sooo boring, 15 minutes is about all I can handle. I'm a little more comfortable on the Treadmill today than last week. I did get HR up, but probably need it a bit higher and for longer.

really grinds my goat when people use estimates to derive numbers that are best obtained empirically, or ignored altogether
not the number i'm pissed off about, but for example: a population-level estimate for max heart rate is 220-age. let me be abundantly clear: this is an estimate! if you had a group of a bunch of 30yos, on average, their max heart rates would be around 190. it would probably be something else. it's a really really bad estimate it turns out.
constantly, constantly, in groups of new runners, someone will say: while i was running, my heart rate went over my max heart rate! am i going to die? no. the max heart rate which can be exceeded is not the true max heart rate. but more seriously: congrats! your max heart rate is higher than you thought!
no, it's not particularly dangerous to get your heart rate up really high, unless you have shit going on. i don't know what shit you have going on. i am not your doctor, nor am i even a doctor; i'm just some asshole who likes running. if you have shit going on, talk to a doctor, or at least someone with some knowledge about exercise + whatever it is you have going on. it ain't me!

After watching several recently released movies, I realised the only movie with an uncompromising feminist message, to this day, is still Mad Max: Fury Road, where the portrayal of powerful female characters remain positive without being having a sinister undertone or "conveniently" turning evil in the end; where the antagonists remain to be the patriarchal system and those men oppressing women. It's rare to see writers and director hired by big studio to not be afraid of mainstream expectation.

I had work and class today as usual, but I was very tired bc I got like 2 1/2 hours of sleep bc of poor decision making. And maybe that triggered a flare up, I have no idea. My blood oxygen level dropped to 91% this morning and my heart rate was, once again, dropping into the 40s every time I rested, but jumped up as high as the 160s when I was like taking stairs and shit.
So uhhh,,,I was tired as hell. I still am. Idk how accurate my phone is, but it says my VO2 max didn’t get above 24.6 today, which - if that’s correct - means my body was really struggling to use what oxygen I was getting. And the METs measurements indicates that I’m using as much energy to walk around and do normal tasks that a healthy person might use to run an 8-10 minute mile.
I still went to class. Which maybe counts for something, idk. But I apparently looked as shitty as I felt, bc multiple people asked me if I was doing okay. And one of my class friends checked in because I was apparently wheezing, which I didn’t notice, and it worried her.
It wasn’t a great day. And it’s far from the only bad day I’ve had recently. But, with the exception of some readings for my class tomorrow, I guess I’ve gotten through it. And I’ll definitely wear my leg braces and everything tomorrow so that I, at the least, don’t have to actively manage both issues.
But if anyone has any advice? Or like a hypothesis about what’s causing this? I’m not picky. And I’d be really grateful.
And I’m sorry for bitching about it on the internet again.

Started off with repeats (5 min blocks progressively faster)
Finished off with steep incline work focusing on keeping my heart fast. Overall was over 95% max this workout for 27 mins total including 17 mins straight. Getting back to where I want to be even while I'm still pretty beefed out. I miss my abs :( lol but they'll be back

funniest part of spin class is that since i'm primarly an outdoor cyclist and conserned with keeping my bike stable and going a straight line i keep my upper body completely still and everyone else bops up and down and side to side. it's not an indication that i'm better or that anyone is doing anything wrong but it's just funny, looks funny from the mirror. and i realize i am very boring for posting this. anyway time for skin care and whatever. flannel pajamas and to bed.
