also regarding my last reblog:

i've now seen stuff like "but he also didn't think he'd make a good teacher!" as some sort of gotcha in regards to people rightfully pointing out that gale says that he's not sure he considers himself father material - which in gale's roundabout way is just a no.

not only is it factually wrong since gale never thought himself a bad teacher nor did he ever express doubt in this regard.

in act i, the most he ever says that could be construed as that is that he had students before and their "ineptitudes" irked him.

which... you know. sometimes as a teacher you do get annoyed at your students. it's normal. it happens. it means nothing more than that you are human and feel emotions.

and even by the time the epilogue rolls around, gale has lines that still indicate he has to deal with annoyances from his students.

additionally, during the weave scene you can tell him he's a "great teacher" and gale's only reply is "oh, i know."

hardly the answer of someone who thinks he's not cut out for the job.

lastly, being a parent and being a teacher are two fundamentally different things that i feel kind of silly even having to point this out, but a teacher has children around them in a controlled environment with a clear set of rules for a controlled amount of time.

you get to go home at the end of the day.

a parent doesn't have that luxury.

hsr age estimates... i was just sorting out my thoughts since same face has everyone except the Kiddos looking like they're 20 when that's definitely not true for a good chunk of them + ages are EXTRA poorly defined due to not all the characters being human and having different life spans. so for those guys these numbers are like. vague equivalences. also using the 20s as an example "early" would be anything from 20 to 25 and "late" is 26 to 30

according to Google, red lored amazons can live up to 80 years????? that’s so insane to think about a bird living that long

They can live up to 80 years but even with good care their lifespan is often much shorter. Just from personal experience at the shelter and at the vet clinic 60 years or so is a much more average lifespan for an amazon. It’s like saying a cat can live to be 30. They can, but they’re much more likely to live 15-20 years.

There are genetics to consider but and also the fact that parrots in captivity aren’t able to fly like they can in the wild. Even with some of the best possible setups they just don’t need/want to travel as much as they would in the wild. Amazons in particular are prone to being fat, lazy blobs in captivity and ending up with liver failure because of it.

And then last but not least most large parrots go through many homes in their lifetimes and nearly just as many of them go through some kind of neglect. We saw a lot of parrots at the shelter who had pretty bad arthritis relatively early into their older years because they weren’t housed properly. Or parrots who already had liver damage from poor diets.

Thinking of Jun and Keema and how their ages are never explicitly stated (not that I recall, at least). They’re referred to as “young men,” “boys,” “old-eyed,” “men,” “kids.” Often viewed as little or weak or mighty and bigger than themselves. Though somehow, when you consider their age, they are always just this: Too young.

so far there are 38 playable characters in project melzan, with some being optional or lategame of course. Most of these 38 i've figured out exactly when and where you'll get them, but a few are like "yea somewhere lategame" or even "this character could be dragged and dropped anywhere on the damn continet so i have no idea when they'll be recruited or even met".

Anyway I wonder how many there will be in the end.

I always go back to drawing this design but never really end up finishing any art of her... Maybe someday.
