Svsss is the only mxtx novel that I’ll give people some (a tiny bit) of leeway for their misinterpretations, cause you really don’t be catching shit until you reread and have a “wait a minute…!” moment. The official English translation definitely made things easier, but for a lot of places where I had come away with one interpretation in my first read with the fan translation, the official… didn’t actually differ from it too much. I simply was too caught up in the story the first time around to catch the places where the narration was purposely misleading me, particularly about Shen Qingqiu’s character and motivations. If there was any mxtx book I’d say you have to read multiple times to get, it’d be svsss.

imagining how messy the luci geist dating reveal was [mostly for dan lets be real, he was having a mental breakdown]
dan was already upset when luci told him he was dating someone but refused to introduce them, a fact he vented about to bianca once they started seeing each other. only to end up feeling very vindicated when luci and his mystery partner broke up, of course he ended up feeling bad about how happy he felt considering how completely heartbroken luci was afterwards. it went on like that for a few months with dan comforting luci while still being kinda mad luci refused to really actually talk about who he was even dating.
then one day geist shows up at his doorstep out of nowhere pleading their case cause they are currently getting framed for murder and dan is the only detective they trust. dan is maybe willing to listen until luci walks in, sees geist, and immediately starts bawling. geist reveals why "wait, he never told you? we dated." dan is now mad a both geist for dating the man he's been in love with for practically his whole life and at luci for dating the fucking thief he's been trying to catch for over a year now. then the other thieves show up to try and fix whatever the hell is going on.
but then dan sees bianca, his girlfriend, there. who is apparently also a thief and never told him. but more importantly! she knew that geist was the one who was dating and subsequently broke luci's heart and didn't tell him
to say the least the fact that dan ever managed to end up helping geist with the whole framed for murder thing at all is a miracle, dan is a saint

This chapter feels like the point of no return between Victor and the creature, and we as readers haven't even read about the creature himself since that meeting in the storm. Only the chain of consequences made from what it seems to be a planned revenge against Victor.
So, both Justine and William's death took a toll on Victor, to the point that he has been self isolating himself again. A pattern that he started while he was a student, but this time it feels really grim because while the latter was a consequence of Victor's uncontrolled ambition over his experiments, the former is the result of all Victor's suppresed feelings since he came back. The guilt, the shame, the hate, the rage, the years, all of it it's neatly packaged in Victor's minds to repeat to himself again, and again.
At this point, Victor's mental health is in shambles. Any recovery, and progress he had made with Clerval at the university is untangled, and gone. Along with his father's really unhelpful advice, and poor Elizabeth dealing with her own mental troubles, and loss of innocence. Victor is now once again trapped in a guilt cycle of his own making, this time with no one to get him out of it.
It seems that the narrative is hinting to another mental breakdown in this trip. More placed with Victor's constant suicidal ideations plus his self imposed isolation, and this time the difference in his environment might send him to spiral worse since (and this is just my perspective here) none of the characters who went on the trip have the emotional characteristics to deal with, or help Victor.
Futhermore, Victor will stay with them because his sense of duty to his family's safety overules his own feelings over his own well-being. So Victor shall go to the trip no matter how miserable he feels.

i feel like dark has the tendency to disappoint one mun's expectations after another bc yeah he looks the way he does but then he's like. he's easy to rile up but it's difficult to actually get him to fight (because of daisuke) and he's never killed anyone + he's chaotic good and not human and his entire basis of theft operates on that so his morality turns blue and orange to some people + he's a flirt but as soon as anybody actually starts showing signs of interest in him all of his internal sirens and warning bells start going off so he starts to avoid them and push them away + a very real part of his true, legitimate personality is tsundere and awkward as hell + he's cringe + despite it all, the power of love is very real to him
