Pike Brewing Company temporarily closes Tankard & Tun while canceling Women in Beer 2020.

Like many who concerned with safety of the staff and extended Pike Brewing Company family, the ownership of Pike have announced they will (regrettably) make the following changes, in light of the Coronavirus. 

 Tankard & Tun - temporarily closed.

Considering the downturn in business, coupled with Washington state Governor Inslee’s ban on gatherings “of more than 250 people in King County” coupled with King County’s “prohibition of gatherings of fewer than 250 people”, the ownership of Pike Brewing Company has elected to close Tankard & Tun, temporarily. 

Pike Brewing Company is sad to report that because of the economic impacts due to CORVID-19, we have temporarily closed Tankard & Tun. We have transitioned as many of our staff as possible to The Pike Pub, and all affected team members are on Standby Unemployment until we reopen.

However, the ownership has kept their sister location, The Pike Pub, operating as usual from 11 am - 10 (Sunday thru Thursday) and 11 am - 11 pm (Friday and Saturday). 

Cleanliness and food safety are always top priorities at Pike, and we have implemented additional sanitation procedures, including on high-touch areas like handles, railings, tables, chairs, menus, and bar tops. Our spacious 12,000-square-foot Pub allows guests to dine on-site while maintaining their distance from others.

Those wishing to support Pike Brewing Company can continue to visit them at The Pike Pub, order meals through Grubhub or MealPal or by ordering your beers from an authorized grocery delivery service. 

Women in Beer - Canceled

Because of the prohibition of crowds larger than 250 in King County and possibly beyond, Pike Brewing Company has elected to cancel their annual event Women in Beer 2020. Pike Brewing Company regrets this decision and will provide refunds to all who purchased tickets. Those wishing to still support Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and Hawaiian Islands, are asked to visit their website. Lastly, the brewery hopes you will keep the spirit of Women in Beer 2020 by supporting local businesses which are owned or produce products and services provided by women.

you look old. and fat. is your hair getting thinner? the vaseline feels good on your lips. so cold outside. i'm so glad i don't have to go out. oh fuck i do. the mealpal. ugh. do i just forget about it. what's it cost like, 7 dollars? is that worth being cold for 10 minutes? but you'll be hungry. my asshole itches again. why haven't they gotten back to us yet? maybe they did but he's not telling me. why would he not? they probably didn't. you should text him, it's past five now. i want to jerk off again. i'll wait a while it will feel better. fucking tumblr. i do see some parallels between Lenny and the old dog. candy didn't shoot his  dog, but george did. so that must mean something. also the juxtaposition of the big guy and the little mouse is cool. why do we like things that contrast well, like something pretty big and something kind of small? is it society that decides we like these or biology? must be both. maybe. depends. what about colors and how they go together? that's all learned from nature, it must be. we're just a fucking neural net which learned from our parents, our peers, and nature. like earth nature, not physics nature. everytime we learned something we got a reward. we've associated the fundamental constants upon which complexity is build with pleasure. so the patterns we see in nature, fibonacci spirals, phi, whatever... we associate with pleasure. so then when we see them elsewhere they please us. bam pleasure. this makes sense. the small mouse and the big guy seems pleasurable because i'm probably imagining it with a pleasing ratio. can true insight ever come then? if we're just a distorted reflection of what we've seen then where does true creativity come from? and how? ok let's analyze. it must be physicists, or mathematicians. that's the only place, no? imagine something that we as mankind have created, that doesn't have an analogue in nature. need to shit. do writers exhibit real creativity? when you write a story, something that hasn't happened, its fiction, is that creativity? the orange cat, jumped on the coffee table and as cats do, sniffed around curiously, and unbeknownst to him since he was just a cat after all, inhaled a medium sized dose of pure MDMA. this scenario probably happened many times before but this is very likely an original sentence. must be. i can compute the probability. thirty five words in total. yeah it must be original. nobody in the history of mankind has ever written it in the exact way that i have. is this real creativity? does true creativity raise or lower entropy? locally of course. well let's think. i'm using a laptop to write, so definitely entropy is increasing, heat, electricity, etc. im moving my fingers. more entropy. but ok forget the laptop. i put together a string of words that has never existed before. physically what did i do? well if i was a succesfull writer, i'd be putting together a lot of words that have never been together. they would print my shit on books. people would require energy to go and buy my books, or fuel for the cars to ship them. success in this context means greatly increasing entropy. imagine no art in the world. entropy is very low. imagine a world with bad art. entropy is a bit higher, because nobody wants to see my bad art so it doesn't make it. commercially. say only my tumbler viewers see it, and that's a lot of energy required. so okay. great art is different from shit art in two ways i) the energy footprint it leaves on the world is proportional to the greatness of the art and so is ii) the increase in entropy of the earth system. the system is always earth, let's say. is that okay? [long pause whose thoughts are hard to put into words] i think so. but wait something is wrong. i'm not getting to the point i want to make. what separates a good art from bad art? in a different way. take a radom thirty five word sentence and the sentence with the cat. i ate too many protein bars and now i am sick. four of them. that makes 800 something calories. 2 slices of pizza let's say 500. a bit of that shit oatmeal 100. okay i thought it would be worse. im somewhere around 1500 i'd say. i should not eat anymore. im so fucking hungry. i could fuck a burrito.
