one of the weird things about life expectancies in warrior cats stretching out as the series goes on is that lionblaze is 8 years old with adult grandchildren and showing no signs of age or even retiring, while yellowfang was depicted as old af when she died at the age of 8.
#warrior cats#yellowfang#lionblaze#in fairness i imagine being invincible for years when he was younger and unable to obtain serious injuries or illness#probably gave him a lifespan boost. but everyone else around him is living forever; thornclaw is fine even though his siblings retired#and they're all old enough to attend secondary school. cats like squirrelflight and whitewing don't seem to have stiffer limbs or grey fur.#i don't think they should have the same lifespan as a typical unmanaged feral colony (only 2 years!) but i think first arc cats#should really have all died of old age a while ago. second arc cats should be retired and starting to pass from old age. and cats from the#third and fourth arcs beginning to feel their age and the older ones retiring.#so a lifespan of about 8-10 years i think? with the odd outlier like mistystar. leaders should probably live another year or two anyhow#because of their extra lives. although normal age related complications would likely start to eat into them once they live for long enough.#(i mean. squirrelstar just go her nine lives. she's probably going to live longer than a cat like tallstar who got them at a younger age#even if she lands up with kidney failure or cancer they haven't been whittled away when she was young via other stuff. i think her living#long enough to take the junior cert is reasonable)#also i think medicine cats would live a bit longer because they don't have to hunt and fight all the time. although older med cats would be#more vulnerable to being killed by a disease outbreak. i think their apprentice would have to take on tasks like herb gathering and treatin#contagious illnesses.

my favorite thing about my Generations ocs is when i start mapping things out and suddenly Poppystar has gone from Bitch-ass Leader who is Mean to the Protagonist for No Reason into Oh My God Give This Woman a Break, Moonpool Christ.
literally all in the span of 3 moons she: has an apprentice, is made deputy, becomes pregnant, goes on a quest to save her dumbass leader while pregnant, leader decides to RETIRE and she becomes leader, GIVES BIRTH, decides "fuck this" and makes her apprentice into a warrior despite him not having finished his apprenticeship
like YEAH no WONDER she's a Bitch(tm), she literally had to train an apprentice WHILE pregnant WHILE being a new leader WHILE the dumbass Main Protagonist pisses StarClan the FUCK off and suddenly its HER problem and she DOESN'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS
AND she had a bad mom

I am having trouble with an au, so its one where Cinderpelt doesn’t become a medicine cat (i have good reasons) but i’m having trouble with who takes her place.
It would most likely be an apprentice before or during rising storm because Yellowfang dies in the fire. Generally in AU’s like this Brambleclaw is my go to for a med cat but i had other plans for him this time around.

He's technically a very fresh but full value medcat, i just put him here to make things a bit clearer. He's really nervous and a complete workaholic. He may have a strong connection to CrystalClan, but also to the Deadly Woods... He often gets visited by the dark spirits, especially a strangely nice one, FrozenTear.
CinderPaw - BadgerFrost's Apprentice
She/her, aroace
She's very bubbly, and full of energy, as a contrast to her mentor's cold personality. She's always right next to BadgerFrost, carrying herbs and helping where she can.
DovePaw - JayFlower's Apprentice
She/them, straight
DovePaw is quiet and peaceful, and a voice of logic and reason. She's really hard-working, and does her best.
MouseStripe - FireFlake's Apprentice
He/him, questioning
Just like his mentor, MouseStripe was a warrior before he started training to be a medicine cat. But he has no connection to CrystalClan at all, instead, he was forced into this position by StormCrystal. He's very uncertain and clumsy, and his mentor's dismissive attitude is not helping either.

Kinda feel bad for hollypaw during my reread of the sight. She struggles really hard through her medicine cat apprenticeship which is something I actually like!! She doesn't have a natural knack for it, but she still prefers to want to be a medicine cat. It's just sad that leafpool obviously wants jaypaw and gets frustrated with hollypaw so easily. dove is an oc i apparently made back in like february. so that’s cool (completely forgot about her honestly but she’s back now) she is NOT nerfed (side glance at all the disabled characters they made medicine cats or made ‘retire’) . she is a badass warrior kitty!!! kachow!!!!
