SUMMARY

An anti-establishment retelling of the fall of Icarus.

Ten years. Ten years of solitude, of surviving, of hiding. It has been ten long years of navigating the world alone, of planning how he would exact his revenge on those who have wronged him once he gets the chance.

A chance he has yet to receive. He's just one man, one cast out kid. How can he expect to go against a corporation as large as ATLAS alone?

Only he isn't alone, and it is time to make his move.

Διαφθορά is a tragic continuation of Δάιος, following Icarus as he and his dysfunctional found family lay the groundwork for a revolution. It seems like everything is going in his favor so far, even as the appearance of his sunshine throws him off-kilter. Will that continue as protests rise up throughout the country in his name?

MAIN CHARACTERS (BY THEIR CODE NAME)

Icarus (he/they) - We all know Icky baby, he is the man we see the story through the eyes of! Icarus is a chronically exhausted autistic trans man with a caffeine addiction and anger issues. (i suppose he's babygirl too idk)

Apollon (he/him) - I guess he's the love interest for Icarus but he's best known as my beloathed. Apollon is the #2 Elysian just two years after his debut! He is a childhood friend/lover? of Icarus' and perpetual pain in his ass.

Andromeda (they/them) - Our mama bear. Andromeda may share the same name as me, but they are not based on me. Rather, they are heavily based on a good friend of mine. Meda is the oldest, they take care of the group and make sure that everyone comes back alive and well. They don't specialize in fighting, but in healing. Particularly herbal and natural remedies (remember, lavender for anxiety and antibiotics for a fucking infection)

Achilles (he/him) - Another childhood friend of Icarus. He is Icarus' adopted little brother and right hand man.

Thanatos (he/him) - The information broker of the group. He specializes in getting what he needs to get and doing so discreetly, a huge benefit for Icarus' group. He is gender non-conforming and is a lovely person to be around, so long as your name isn't Icarus.

The Elysians - The figureheads of the government. They basically have free reign to enforce the laws of the land. The most notable of the Elysians are Daedalus (#1 rank), Nyx (not ranked, she operates out of sight), Casseopeia (former #2 rank), Prometheus (#5), and Thetis (#9). Each of them specializes in different fighting styles based on their mythological code name.

I've avoided posting a lot of clips of the Peacock and Gamble things on Tumblr, because many are so offensive that it seems unfair to clip them out of context and stick them on social meda ~15 years later (that's what I say so it sounds like an ethical stance, when in reality I just don't want to admit to what specific things I've laughed at). However, I have managed to find a bit that's relatively clean (well, I made it relatively clean with some pretty surgical clipping), and that weirdly relates to several conversations I've had recently with several different people. It features Ed Gamble talking about his cousin, who's autistic.

I've said before that I think a lot of autistic people are at one extreme or the other when it comes to competitiveness. This is a theory that I've seen backed up by academic literature just barely often enough for it to count as a real thing, and not as something I've invented from anecdotal evidence. When I was getting my university degree in psychology, and my more recent college diploma in autism studies, it occasionally came up in textbooks, usually as part of a list of traits where autistic people tend to be at either the very high end or the very low end of the scale. Competitiveness get mentioned in conjunction with that, but courses I took never really expanded on that. I'd even tried Googling whether there's research into it, and didn't find much.

Since I started working at this autism centre nearly a year ago, and in the couple of other autism centres where I've done some work before, I've seen a lot of anecdotal evidence of this. And it is often, as Ed Gamble correctly figured out for his comedy podcast, funny when you put the separate extremes together. At work I regularly see scenes so similar to what Ed Gamble was describing there. Board games where one kid is losing his mind when things go wrong, and another kid is sitting there impassively, not upset when he's losing but also not happy when he wins and in fact barely able to remember what he's supposed to be doing, because he could not possibly care less. He cannot begin to understand why anyone else cares. So he sits there and stares, totally uninterested, while Rome burns (by which I mean, while the hypercompetitive kid starts throwing things every time the roll of the dice doesn't go his way). It's fucking funny. I don't mean to make fun of autistic children, but there's an entire genre of comedy about how neurotypical children are funny (kids say the darnedest things), so I think it should be fine for us to say that autistic children are also sometimes funny.

I mean, if it helps, I'm not just condescendingly making fun of hte kids, I'm very much including myself here. I'm an adult who's capable of restraining myself from throwing board game pieces, but I am throwing things on the inside when I'm losing at something, or even in a more general sense, when it looks like someone else is doing something better than me and it's something I care about doing. It was... not long enough ago, when I learned that not everyone thinks this way. A couple of kids I work with have a program where we have to teach them to tolerate losing, and every time, I'm saying "See, we can just tell the person who won that they did a good job and it's okay," and I'm thinking, "I mean I don't blame you for throwing things, I'd be furious too." Another kid I work with has a program for teaching him how to play games, because it's interfering with his ability to make friends, the fact that other kids try to play games with him and he just doesn't care enough to engage. Sometimes these kids play together. It's very funny.

Logically and anecdotally, I can see some reasons why it would be this way. Autism tends to come with logical thinking and being less likely to buy into arbitrary constructs, and competitions are often arbitrary. On the other hand, autism can mean really really caring about having things go exactly the way you want them and getting upset when they don't, hence being hypercompetitive.

I've happened to discuss this lately with a few different people I know, how I wish there were more things I could read about how this manifests and what effect it has on autistic people's lives, because I think it is a significant part of life. Board games are a fairly small part of life, but it's not just board games. Competitiveness looks like all kinds of things, like trying to prove you can do things better than other people in ways that come up all the time. I can see how doing too much or too little of that could have consequences in life (obviously "too much" and "too little" are also relative terms in this case, as I'm not sure who gets to judge what the correct amount is - I guess in this case the "correct" amount would be whatever's most adaptive to serve a person's needs), and therefore, it seems worth researching.

Anyway, I'd never heard anyone besides myself talk about this stark contrast in extreme high vs. extreme low competitiveness in autistic people - I've seen it mentioned briefly when I've gone looking for information about it, and I've brought it up with other people and they've then discussed it with me, but I hadn't heard anyone else bring it up. Until today, when I was sitting in an empty classroom before my therapy session started, deciding what board games I'd use to teach my client how to lose without throwing things that afternoon, and listened to Ed Gamble casually explain the concept to me. That was interesting.

COULSON Minor: n/a Major:  Sudden Wedding. Your sim can’t wait any longer. Pick a single sim and get them married within one rotation. They may have a prior relationship with their chosen spouse, or they can start out as strangers.

I was happy to leave Meda and Jeremy unmarried, but ROS had other ideas. I got on board with it, though; I think it makes sense that Jeremy would be ready to make a more formal commitment to Meda now that he’s decided to settle down in Panorama.

FUENTES-HADDAD Minor: Errands. Visit four community lots within 24 sim-hours.

Nadya fetched water from the Founders’ Square well, bought groceries from Campbell Farm, spoke with Cintia Morales at Cintia’s Handmade, and worked for a few hours at her and Walter’s business, Fuentes Hardware.

Major: Pregnant. Whether through risky woohoo or actively trying, your sim becomes pregnant.

Nadya and Walter love their children but don’t want more. Nadya terminated her unplanned pregnancy with Meda’s help.

MORALES I Minor: Cool Parent. Your sim attempts to befriend three of their child’s friends.

There are always a million things happening at the Morales household, so it’s challenging to find time to work on their ROS. Cintia did her best to befriend a few of Nancy’s friends, but her only opportunity to try was at their joint birthday party, and I didn’t get any good pics. Consider this ROS failed.

Major: Nothing Major. Life goes on as normal.

CAMPBELL-CHEN Minor: New Hobby. Over the next three rotations, have your sim earn a gold skill badge in a new hobby.

Peter took up fishing—or rather, Phoebe forced him to take up fishing because she couldn’t stand having him laying around the house any longer. To his surprise, he’s been enjoying it. It’s not technically a “new” hobby, though, as Peter did some fishing as a teen and already had a bronze badge.

Major: Nothing Major. Life goes on as normal.

CAMPBELL Minor: Write a Novel. Your sim has been hit by the writing muse and is itching to start a novel.

Is Anna beginning to emerge from her stupor? She’s not exactly planning on writing a novel (how would it get published in post-apocalyptic Panorama, anyway?), but we’ll see where her scribbling takes her.

Major: Nothing Major. Life goes on as normal.

MORALES II Minor: n/a Major: n/a

I played this household only for a partial round (Yesenia and Leonor moved out of their parents’ house on day three out of four), so I didn’t roll an ROS for them.

Some more thoughts: I was and am excited to play through the scenarios in my ROS list, but it’s been hard to focus on completing them when there’s so much else going on in almost all of my households. Trying to remember to hit all the story beats AND fulfill a random scenario at the same time made playing my game a little more stressful than fun at times during round 5. Going forward, I think I’ll roll ROS only for families that I’m not sure what to do with, or that don’t otherwise have a ton going on.

Who is more likely to feed the other in public?: Kuina. (She can’t get enough of Meda’s smile and blush when she does so)

Who gives the other random little compliments?: Meda. (To which Kuina showers her with kisses and yells compliments right back)

Who is always stealing food from the other’s plate?: Kuina. (Meda has the best choices!).

Who is more likely to let the other borrow their car?: Kuina. (And she’d be right there in the passenger seat along for the ride in her own car) 

Who makes the list before they go grocery shopping?: Meda. (She’s more used to it from back in the real world and is easily influenced by Kuina’s snacks and beverage ideas that are not on the list)

Who makes sure the other takes their meds when sick?: Meda. (She’s got that maternal instinct but Kuina also loves taking care of Meda when sick)

Who watches sports and has to teach the other the rules?: Kuina. (Not that either of them watch but Kuina’s picked up rules here and there)

Who pulls the other to their feet for a dance in the living room?: Meda. (Usually to salsa/jazz music and she teaches Kuina)

Who has to keep reminding the other to hurry or they’ll be late?: Meda. (Because Kuina has zero concept of time and Meda’s more used to hustling her siblings along)

Who is the one most likely to get a tattoo with the other’s name?: Kuina. (But it would actually be the Wel Andromeda constellation)

Hello everyone! My name is Meda, but you can just call me schizodiaries. I’m in my late 20’s and use they/them pronouns. I have been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder since April of 2022. I was previously diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and depression with psychotic features.

I started this blog in July 2022 as a way to talk about my illness and provide a safe space for myself and fellow schizospecs. I occasionally reblog or make informative posts as well. But it’s primarily a place for me to journal.

I am a hobby artist and I love to paint, sculpt, and crochet. I occasionally post some of my work here if relevant. My favorite colors are purple and pink. My favorite pastimes are listening to music and playing video games. I also like anime. I love liminal aesthetics, weirdcore, internet horror, and ARGs. I also love hospital aesthetics, influenced by my time in a hospital. I love cats, and I have a black cat of my own. Though I am more of a cat person, I love dogs too and I hope to get a dog someday.

𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: Percy is a rotten asshole (but who couldn't have seen that one coming lmao), usage of the name "girl", nothing else I can think of!

Never in a million years would you want to kiss Percival Dolarhyde. God, who could even think of kissing him? He's annoying and a loudmouth and has no idea how to treat anybody right.

And he's ugly anyways. Yeah. The ugliest. The ugliest and saddest bastard you'd ever encountered in all of Absolution. Which – given the low population count – was an easy contest to win. But still, he managed to make it through with flying colors.

Every single day presented a brand new way in which Percy could find a way to needle into your side. In fact, if you didn't know any better, you'd swear that he enjoyed eliciting a reaction from you.

So, mustering up as much unpleasantness as possible, you throw your own punches. And in a way it's therapeutic. The frustration would bubble up so much that it was a relief to have something to blow your lid at.

Every time you call him some nasty name or manage to hurl some retort that shuts him up, your pride swells knowing that the Dolarhyde boy wouldn't get everything he ever wanted. No one was that lucky – not even you.

Because as these exchanges continue on, the urge to up the ante with every blow is so tempting. Because calling him a rat bastard and a nuisance and an arrogant cur simply isn't enough anymore.

Truthfully, the more his lips flap in the wind, sputtering out some feeble insult, the more you simply want to shut him up; to put actions to those words you so desperately cling to. 

Percy's face inches closer to yours as he speaks, "I ain't never known a more goody-two shoes little girl in all of my life."

"Funny how your daddy could be so rich and yet you still can't manage to form a half decent insult."

"Oh, like you could do any better, huh?" Percy scoffs, "Yeah, c'mon, girl. Do your worst."

And you do. At least it's the worst for you. In Percy's case...well, that kiss is probably one of the best things that's ever happened to him.

With his bandana balled up in your fist, you pull him down to your level. And just like every other punch you've pulled on him, your mouth doesn't miss its mark. They strike his dry, cracked lips and create a spark that's just enough to start a raging brush fire as soon as your own lips part and his breath quickens.

Percy struggles with his hands, half afraid that if he puts them anywhere on you, it'll break the heated spell and result in a kick to the groin. But when he settles for placing them on your hips, he's shocked to find that it only makes you whine desperately as you pull him closer and closer. So he does the same and lets himself sink deeper into the embrace.

You only pull away when the sharp and spicy taste of tobacco becomes far too much for you to handle. Because of course even when you're kissing him, something about him has to ruin it just a little bit. That's another thing you could be mad at him for, you figure. And part of you hates how excited you get at the prospect of adding that fact onto your list of problems with him.

"I wasn't quite expecting...that..." Percy murmurs, still trying to catch his breath.

"Would you rather I'd socked you in the nose?"

"No, ma'am," he replies sheepishly and eyes you wearily.

You blink a few times before pursing your lips and sighing. "I guess I could go for another taste."

In the modern OCG, Demon Magic, alongside Black Magic, and Illusionist Alignments, make up the modern DARK Attribute

"The Seat and its Forms." From the Varaha Upanishad, "The Exploration of the Mysteries of the Wild Boar."

The Upanishad teaches the body is a "can" that contains various fluids, parts and organs called Dhatus, none of which are intended for the purposes of committing and maintaining the presence of sins.

It says they can be instead used for the opposite. The list once, again is:

Dhātu (धातु, “supporting tissues and entities”).—Dhātus are those which maintain as well as nourish the body. They are seven in number, e.g.

Rasa (‘chyle’, ‘lymph’ or ‘plasma’),

Rakta (‘blood’),

Māṃsa (‘muscles’ or ‘flesh’),

Meda (‘fat’ or ‘adipose’),

Asthi (‘bone’),

Majjā (‘marrow’ or ‘nervous system’),

Śukra (‘semen’ or ‘reproductive tissue’).

We have spent a great deal of time on the latter, and since we can't get enough of it, here we go again:

50. In the centre of the anus and the genitals, there is the triangular Muladhara. It illumines the seat of Shiva of the form of Bindu.

51. There is located the Parasakti named Kundalini. From that seat, Vayu arises. From that seat, Agni becomes increased.

52. From that seat, Bindu originates and Nada becomes increased. From that seat, Hamsa is born. From that seat, Manas is born.

53. The six Chakras beginning with Muladhara are said to be the seat of Sakti (Goddess). From the neck to the top of the head is said to be the seat of Sambhu (Shiva).

54. To the Nadis, the body is the support (or vehicle); to Prana, the Nadis are the support; to Jiva, Prana is the dwelling place; to Hamsa, Jiva is the support;

55. To Sakti, Hamsa is the seat and the locomotive and fixed universe. Being without distraction and of a calm mind, one should practise Pranayama.

56. Even a person who is well-skilled in the practice of the three Bandhas should try always to cognise with a true heart that Principle which should be known and is the cause of all objects and their attributes.

Look at v. 54 which says the body is the seat of Hamsa, which means “good king”. All that we do in this body is intended to provide a means for Hamsa to provide joy and contentment to the Lord of the Universe.

Without a calm mind, intelligence, clear cognition, empathy, and practices of ingenuity, called sentience, the “true heart” of humanity will flounder. The world will be as it is, running afraid from itself.

The Upanishad says “first, know the body objects and their divine purposes and then fearlessly engage in the fulfillment of that One Principal that created them and gave them to us.

As you have seen the Upanishads are not shy. We are indebted to the body and its needs and when they are satisfied we look and feel great, and others respond to this, including the signals for penetration and insemination, which society demonizes.

If one is to become unbound from sin, as the Upanishad states, we must become bound to practice the Three Bandhas and find Pranayama, that which imbues life with its miraculous qualities instead.

First is Muladahara Bandha, the central binding is belief in the power of the anus and the happy place under the navel.

Second is Uddiyana Bandha, the Soaring, which is the binding of the Self to the “soaring fire” that erupts during ruff ruff.

Third is Jalandhara Bandha, the “binding of the water” or nectar of joy, release, relief, affection, the sensation of being held, protected, and bound to God’s grace through orgasm.

About this the Upanishad says:

36. (Then) Agni (fire) will flame in Jala (water) and in the flame (of Agni) will arise the branches and blossoms. Then the words uttered and the actions done regarding the universe, are not in vain.

37. By checking the Bindu in the path, by making the fire flame up in the water and by causing the water to dry up, the body is made firm.

38. Having contracted simultaneously the anus and Yoni (the womb) united together, he should draw up Apana “orgasm” and unite with it Samana “stillness.”

“Exhalation and inspiration” of this feeling is the objective of binding one’s perceptions to the body and its parts, but especially the anus:

57. Both expiration and inspiration should (be stopped and made to) rest in restraint of breath (alone). He should depend solely on Brahman which is the highest aim of all visibles.
