Medal Ceremonies - United Nations Peacekeepers Day 2023.
The UN Secretary-General to preside over a Dag Hammarskjold Medal and Military Gender Advocate of the Year award ceremony in the General Assembly Hall.
Tumblr media
The International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, 29 May, offers a chance to pay tribute to the uniformed and civilian personnel's invaluable contribution to the work of the Organization and to honour more than 4,200 peacekeepers who have lost their lives serving under the UN flag since 1948, including 103 last year.
This year, May 29, marks the 75th anniversary of United Nations Peacekeeping.

Deanna Stellato-Dudek: 2000 Junior World Silver Medalist → 2024 World Champion
At the age of 40, Deanna Stellato-Dudek is the oldest woman to win a World Championships title in figure skating, with her pairs partner Maxime Deschamps for Canada. Deanna Stellato was the 1999 Junior Grand Prix Final Champion and 2000 Junior World Silver Medalist in the women's singles discipline. She retired from competitive skating in 2001, and returned as a pairs skater in 2016.
40 years is the new 20. That's what I'd like to say. [This record is] not something that I ever set out to do when I came back to skating, but I knew that if I were to accomplish my dreams, it would inevitably occur, because I'm the oldest everywhere. But it's something I carry with pride, and I'm very proud of it. I hope a lot of athletes stay around a lot longer. I hope it encourages people to not stop before they reach their potential. And I hope it transcends into other areas, not just in sports, but also in other areas of life [...] [My 15-year-old self] would say, why did we stop? We're still skating, you know, 25 years later? I think my younger self would think I'm crazy, so she wouldn't think much of it at all. And she wanted to win the 2006 Olympics [...]

After re reading the timeline for no reason whatsoever, I have a bone or two to pick with the citizens of Dahlia
ACCORDING to the timeline, during the Medals Ceremony, “The stadium is the fullest it has been throughout the entire Games.” The Medals Ceremony was the 3rd and final day of the E&E Games, and the day Inversion happened. There were no performances. So I guess my question is:
WHY???
WHY WERE MORE PEOPLE THERE FOR THE *MEDAL* CEREMONY THAN THE OTHER 2 DAYS?
THEY WERE MORE EXCITED TO SEE MEDALS THAN TO SEE THE PERFORMANCES???
what kind of bullshit is that😭
AND TRADITIONALLY ONLY TOP 3 GETS MEDALS SO LIKE??? YALL WERE EXCITED TO SEE 3 PEOPLE YOU DID NOT KNOW (ONLY DAMIEN’S MOM WAS THERE TO SEE HIM, HUXLEY’S TEAM MAYBE BECAUSE HIS MOMS COULDNT MAKE IT, AND ONLY SAM AND VINCENT WERE THERE FOR LOVELY) GET MEDALS? ARE YOU SERIOUS??

It’s not only a new uniform. It’s a new era. 🎖️
The Tower of London was part of history when HM King Charles' new cypher was revealed on the new Yeoman Warder uniforms.
The Yeomen Warders of His Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress the Tower of London, and Members of the Sovereign's Body Guard of the Yeoman Guard Extraordinary, popularly known as the Beefeaters, are ceremonial guardians of the Tower of London.
In principle, they are responsible for looking after any prisoners in the Tower and safeguarding the British crown jewels.
They have also conducted guided tours of the Tower since the Victorian era.
All warders are retired from the British Armed Forces and must be former warrant officers with at least 22 years of service.
They must also hold the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. The garrison consists of 32 (formerly 37) Yeomen Warders and one Chief Warder.
Although the Yeomen Warders are often referred to as Yeomen of the Guard, a distinct corps of Royal Bodyguards of the British monarch, the Yeomen Warders are in fact a separate entity.
