One of the supersets we hit up yesterday as a partial warm up. Hip hinge plyo hops x 15 each side for 3 sets working on stability, balance upon floor contact and glute/quad strengthening with the hop. Also works cardio. Med ball lower body pivot with a 6 lb ball in a squat sit to burn the quads, glutes and lungs at the same time. Works agility, mobility of the lumbopelvic region while working cardio, agility, coordination and quickness not to let the ball bounce twice while keeping a squat sit. Great for all athletes and those looking to improve their overall athleticism (which should be all of us!) 10-15 each side for 3 sets. Both work well in quad/glute activation as a warm up to get you breathing heavy and a bit sweaty. Sunday core work. The BOSU shouldn't just be used just for planking or standing. Try exercises that incorporates seated core challenges. The first is a overhead Russian twist ball slams and the second L-sitting with med ball. The second is very tough if you have tight hamstrings (yours truly!) We just started incorporating these ourselves and with clients because stabilization isn't only important in standing or lying down. We started with just holding balance statically then progress to dynamic moves. Late night fun with a couple medicine balls and a physioball. Total body stability name of the game (started off a little rough in the second clip). First exercise are your typical mountain climbers with a physioball for stability and my type of short burst high intensity cardio and second is your shoulder taps with med balls serving as uneven surfaces.
