Coinciding with Shin Megami Tensei's 31st anniversary, we are happy to finally announce the launch of the independent Megami Tensei Wiki!

Beginning eight months ago as a passion project between fans wanting an independent and factual wiki for the Megami Tensei franchise, we have been hard at work developing the site and its necessary foundations since its initial announcement on Twitter. Now, we are thrilled to finally open to the public!

We are a wholly new and independent wiki dedicated to covering the incredibly vast Megami Tensei (MegaTen) franchise created by Atlus, including Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, Devil Summoner, and more! Not just in covering games, we aim to be a comprehensive encyclopedia for all things MegaTen, including books, manga, audio dramas, and so much more.

Seeing the "Rainbow YHVH" lie, I was reminded of how someone decided to basically write fanfiction on the Megaten Wiki about CARD SUMMONER of all things (don't know how well-known that is though).

In short, they renamed the Protagonist "Yuuji Kino", gave him a sister who turns evil and a sort of "Heroine/Law Hero" girl who fucking dies if you don't save her. Also, they claimed the game had 3 chapters and had alignments with Metatron and Lucifer making an appearance (of course, with 3 endings corresponding to each alignment in a "post-game" of sorts). And the Neutral rep would've been some dude who defeated protag's sister and basically kicked off the plot. Also also, Devil Busters appeared. Sort of.

(If anyone's curious, it's still visible on both the Card Summoner protagonist's and the Card Summoner game's pages' history.)

This has also sorta happened with Hazama's Chapter, but I'm not gonna bore anyone with that. I kinda find it interesting though - especially if you consider the Card Summoner lie stayed up on the wiki for SEVEN years before someone noticed and deleted it (but you can still see some files named "Yuuji Kino" that stayed up on the pages).

New MegaTen Wiki

Eyyyyy people were complaining about the MegamiTensei Wiki again on Twitter and wishing there was a new Wiki..... So I said “screw it” and just.....made it. 

It’s barest of bones so go ham.

Only rules are:

Site sources (hell the more sources and pics the better)

If a MC was originally nameless with no default name, the page will be titled “Game # Hero(ine)” (if they had a name from the get go then they use that name, example: Tatsuya, Maya, Ringo)

Keep it canon (obvie??? but just in case)

For the name changes, you can see a more in depth explanation and plan on my tiny twitter thread here, but the TLDR is:

It honors that they were originally nameless

It should be a nice neutral ground for the name wars

Doesn’t conflate the adaptations

Atlus will still call them the generic “HERO” even after getting a “canon name”

Keeps it all uniformed

If they are known by their Nickname more so, we’ll go with that tho (ex: Boy with Earring and Hitoshura/Demifiend). We can always change it later. 

Anyways other than that, go ham, just keep it canon.

Hey oh!

Working on making a wiki. 

If anyone has any issues with the existing and on going Fandom Wiki (such as there being incorrect information) but the mods won’t let you change it. Then please submit it here (submissions and asks/anons are open to all)

I know a lot of people have had issues correcting it, as well as getting banned trying to correct the info. And I wanna keep a log of what I need to look out for when I’m updating my wiki. 

Or even if you just have some fun facts, I’m down for it all~!

(if you can source where the info is from, such as the area, time, place in game, or if it’s from a specific book. That would be helpful and I can add it to the references).

The Megaten wiki is annoying because even though it's not very good, it's also the main/only source of information for about 95% of the franchise for most of the western fandom. Like I legitimately think that the only reason anyone knows anything about weirdass spinoffs like Giten Megami Tensei and Last Bible is because of the wiki.

Yes, and prior to the wiki the primary source of information was the original Hardcore Gaming 101 article. On the topic, I remember being wowed by this collection of sprite art when I first saw it:

But yeah, all the more need for the wiki to be as good as it can be. Part of the problem though I think is that people who believe in this don't necessarily want to do it themselves (myself include).

if it helps - often figures here who die after or while doing great things are deified. not in the same way, i'll note - think more like landorus, though more minor. if she doesn't return, i'll set up a shrine to her.

THIS WAS SO FUNNY... honestly i don't think i give enough credit to akihiko and mitsuru's dynamic they're literally so good i really enjoy how well they know each other but also they're like.. a constant in each other's life and i do enjoy their interactions a lot even if i never vocalize it...

wow yosuke, who would've thought that you two are partners, this guy literally introduced himself as your wife /s (i kinda regret naming souji yosuke wifey but im glad i wrote the y in lowercase bc otherwise i wouldn't be able to tell their dialogue apart 💀

ok unfortunately i can't say that im going to go AS INSANE as i did last time when i was spitballing in the tags for the second pq posting just because i feel like i aired out most of my "AAAA WHO IS ZEN AND REI??" there but.

i do have to say that i'm very glad i'm at the point where p3 and p4's casts are able to interact! i can't tell if it's because the writing feels like it shines a little bit better here rather than the solo casts (sometimes i roll my eyes at how junpei and akihiko are with some of the traits the writers play up), or if it's because i'm a guy who's very endeared by crossovers and interactions from characters who didn't exist in the original source material.

i had a lot of times where i was writing things down in my notes software during the crossover segments and im just?? really endeared and creatively inspired by it, to be honest. i really like this aspect of pq.

i think something that catches my interest with zen and rei at the moment is the difference in how they're.. regaining their memories. like... it's interesting to me that zen is able to get some of his memories back from the stuffed rabbit marked with "niko," but rei doesn't. i don't really know how much i can speculate off of this atm (i feel like this is something i'd get more info on when i progress through the second labyrinth, or it's something i'm missing out on because i can't use intertextuality to piece things together. i dont know shit about alice in wonderland.)

like it does make me think that maybe these two are like.. separate entities in that respect (rather than a shared one? but i could be wrong, and i welcome that!). but also there's something that makes my brain go "AAA" about how adamant zen is about wanting to protect rei despite not having any memories, because my brains like "WELL WHAT IF ZEN'S TRUE IDENTITIES AND MEMORIES ARE ACTUALLY THE OPPOSITE, AND DON'T WANT GOOD THINGS FOR REI." poorly phrased but like, it's about the irony, y'know.

i have no fucking clue what rei is supposed to be if we're going under the notion that they're two different things that have lost their memory (she is so head empty only food and its precious tbh). but like my brain just thinks that zen is just... going to end up being some awful incarnation or something like idk. there's something about persona characters with amnesia that make me raise my eyebrow... like just look at ryoji and marie and teddie...

and i guess as another thought on the matter, the way zen and rei work mechanically speaking does make me ponder a bit because like.. obviously, yeah, they can't equip a subpersona because they're... GESTURES. not persona users but FUCK, the way zen and rei have very distinct skillsets just make me wonder if those can allude to what they symbolize. like zen's skills are much more.. destructive and im just like (AIGIS VOICE) "YOU ARE DANGEROUS."

anyways. i am very much invested in the identities of zen and rei but i am also glad that the crossover stuff is here too because i think the sillies will keep me inspired... and also im just happy to see yosuke... i really like yosuke even if i forget that i do a lot of the time..

last thought, after seeing souji talk and move, i think i'd definitely want to look into p4 side... because um. 🥴 i'm really simple guy. i need more minato in my life. (everyone rolls their eyes. i'm predictable!) i want to see minato move and talk. i want to think about him. he's my boyfriend. he's my wife. he's my universe. im being so cringe about him but I DONT THINK THIS IS A SURPRISE TO ANYONE... i like him a lot (NO SHIT, LIZZ). but!!! idk if this'll be something that i watch or play, it depends on what the NG+ functionality in this game is like...

Any news on the efforts to evacuate the Megaten Wiki from FANDOM?

No idea! It's a real undertaking, and I'm not sure whether they've retained all the hands that were on board at the beginning. If there's enough of an interest then hopefully something will materialize sooner or later.

(I wanted Megaten but that was taken, someone else did start a megamitensei wiki dot but no one has added anything and I’d like to be in charge atm).

One week of writing while in work meetings and 80 kb of text later, Adachi's MegaTen Wiki page is done (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) This was a fascinating experience of trying to write about this character without using the phrases "he's a teenaged girl" or "god forbid women do anything" or "he's gay"

I am the one who responsible for upholding the Hattoshin Mona trivia in Ravana but I no longer edit Megaten wiki for sometime already. The reason for that was merely that the allusion was widely accepted among Japanese players. If you watch DDS Ravana's video on NicoNico you will get a lot of 八頭身モナー大佐 flying comments. Indeed there is no official admission AFAIC.

Yeah, I wouldn't sweat it. That bit has been on Ravana's page in some form since April 2012.

The only problem is that people tend to get most of their information from the wiki, and trust it. So something like this that's somewhat innocent ends up being misread or distorted in its place of "authority" and repeated. Wikipedia and any other wiki will have the same problem. The battle for veracity has no end.
