OH BOI its has been a while since I have uploaded this blog time for updates!!!! (4/24/2020)

Since the initial showing of my story boards I completely finished my story board and the background audio which I will upload in a separate post! I also finished the audio which I had a lot of fun playing around with. I am still looking for music for my short film and will continue to search through megatrax in hopes of finding something that I like. I am currently in the progress of working on my rough animation and so far I’m still very excited. I think the excitement is building a bit more now that I'm actually seeing some progress as compared to my previous struggle with motivation. So high fives to me :) I worked out a schedule with Brittany and will  be uploading my progress on my rough animation bit by bit!.

Week 5- Pre-Production Package

Phew, what a process this has been. I have finally finished my Pre-Production Package!!! (Ｔ▽Ｔ)

This past week, I finalized my script and worked on my Pre-Production Schedule especially finalizing the sequence/shot breakdown list and the asset list. I also tried roughly scheduling out the days and sequences/shots that I will be working on for rough animation on the more detailed production schedule. Who knows, I may be able to do more than one complexity 1 shot in one day  or I may need more days to do complexity 3 shots, so I will continue fixing the schedule for the rough animation portion on the detailed production schedule. As for the other categories, I haven’t really touched them yet but will do so moving forward.

Animatic:

Another thing I worked on was my animatic. I went back in and fixed the drawings of the characters so they look more cohesive throughout the animatic. I also revised the part where Ladybug is swinging her katana yet again because I didn’t like how it looked and wanted it to look more dynamic. For this scene in particular, I was inspired by the final battle between Firelord Ozai and Aang from ATLA, especially the parts where they are flying in the air as well as the compositions/framing of certain shots.

As for the music for my animatic, I found one from Megatrax that fits the timing of my animatic perfectly, but not 100% sure if it works well for my film. Oh well, I shall see if I can find other options. For now it shall suffice.

Here is just a concept art I did so you can get a sense of what the final film might look like with the final character designs, colors, backgrounds, etc. For this, I took the final shot of my animatic so that I could see how everything would come together. I’m really loving the textures and noise that I overlaid on top of the image so it doesn’t looks so sharp.

Here is the final character designs for Ladybug, Susan, the Swift, and the Aphid(s) all together on a model/scale chart. The design for the swift bird only changed slightly.

Backgrounds:

I can’t believe I did 16 in total so far! I still need to do a few more, but I’m glad I spent my time getting most of them out of the way so that I can focus more on the animation itself. I’m really loving the different textures that I achieved with the different gouache brushes on Photoshop as it’s sort of giving me that children’s book illustration style.
