This season's Whale pride jerseys are now up for auction!!!!!
Tumblr media
photo stolen from the auction page
I know there was a lot of interest in this season's pride jersey, so I wanted to alert you all that the MeiGray auction for the autographed game-worn and game-issued jerseys has begun!
Here it is!
A few points of note:
The auction ends on April 18th, 2023.
The jerseys are NOT cheap (the starting bid is $200), but they're being sold to raise money for the New Haven Pride Center, so it's for a good cause!
Certain players are more popular than others, and their jerseys will generally be bid up a lot more. I suspect that Shannon's jersey will go for a pretty substantial amount, since she wore it for her final home game before retirement. Kennedy's jerseys seem to be quite popular, etc.
Jerseys that don't sell in an auction are typically added to MeiGray's store, where they might be listed for a little less than the auction's starting bid. (The Pennies tribute jerseys that didn't sell at auction are currently listed at $195, for instance.) If you're VERY lucky, an unsold jersey might stick around until the annual summer sale, and you might be able to snag it for ~20% off. (That's how I got my pride jersey from last season!)
This probably goes without saying, but I have no affiliation with MeiGray. However, I have purchased Whale jerseys from them twice now (not through an auction) and had a positive experience. Oh, also, I did see that they're hiring for a bunch of positions, so if you live in New Jersey and want to get into the sports memorabilia business, they may have a job for you!

These Rare Memorabilia Show Serena Williams’s Dominance in Tennis
These Rare Memorabilia Show Serena Williams’s Dominance in Tennis
It’s not every day you come across a piece of U.S. Open venue memorabilia, particularly one used by a tennis legend like Serena Williams. But eBay seller Barry Meisel of the MeiGray Group store has a rare exception in the form of the actual nets used in the U.S. Open tennis championships — including the 2013 and 2014 finals nets, which gave Serena two of her whopping 23 singles finals…

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning’s Super Bowl XLII helmet to be auctioned
[ad_1]
One of the main pieces of evidence in the Eli Manning memorabilia fraud lawsuit that led to an undisclosed settlement is heading to the auction block.
Manning’s helmet used in Super Bowl XLII, the game in which the underdog New York Giants upset the 18-0 New England Patriots to win the title, will be auctioned off by Goldin Auctions.
“This is a very significant piece,” said Goldin…

Special treat last night at #SantanderArena....Barry Meisel, who heads up the incredible #MeiGray company and is the foremost collector of #NYRangers game-used uniforms, let me hold two of his treasures: authentic, historic #Rangers jerseys from the ‘40s and 50s. What a tremendous surprise and total sports-geek moment for me! Thank you, Barry! And, sure, they may have shrunk a little bit over time, but yes — those jerseys are really tiny. #NYR #Rangerstown #hockey #hockeyjersey #hockeysweater (at Santander Arena)

Earliest Pair Of Photo-Matched Air Jordan 1 Game Shoes Expected to Bring Big Price
Michael Jordan’s sneakers are coveted pieces of memorabilia, and Heritage Auction is offering the earliest photo-matched Air Jordan 1s in its current auction.
The signed Air Jordans were matched to an April 1, 1986, game at Mecca Arena between Jordan’s Chicago Bulls and the Milwaukee Bucks. Milwaukee, destined to win the Central Division reach the Eastern Conference finals before being swept by the Boston Celtics, won 116-107.
The shoes are among the premier attractions in the Heritage Platinum Night Auction, set to close this weekend.
That didn’t stop Jordan, who was still nursing a broken foot and came off the bench to score a game-high 28 points in 26 minutes of action. He also had five total rebounds, blocked three shots, had two assists and one steal.
Although Jordan was limited to only 18 games during the 1985-86 season by a broken foot, he still had a healthy scoring average of 22.7 points per game.
This particular pair of sneakers was altered slightly to accommodate Jordan’s injured foot. The standard soles were trades for examples used on “Nike Dunk” models, giving the footwear a softer and wider feel.
A defect in the sneakers left an uneven count of eyelets on each side of the right shoe’s tongue. The sneaker was missing a punch where the third eyelet from the top would normally be parallel to the player’s interior ankle.
Game photography showed a skipped tier of leather laces; the left shoe, meanwhile, was properly laced.
On the same side of the missing eyelets is an area of white abrasions to the red leather that borders the shoe’s toe box. That was also a precise photo match.
Another white scuff between the outside Nike swoosh and toe box on the left show also presented a photo match in game images from the contest.
The sneakers’ interior ankle contains factory coding in white printed text. The “13 860304STPS” code translates to a size 13 that was produced between March 1986 and April 1986. “ST” denotes where the footwear was produced, while “PS” is indicative of a player sample.
The black leather around the sneakers’ ankles are cracked from time, and not from game action.
Jordan’s autograph is written in black ballpoint ink and is located directly below the uneven eyelet that was unused due to its missing partner on the right sneaker.
The sneaker has several letters of authenticity. The photo match carries an LOA from MeiGray and Photo-Match.com. There is also a full LOA for the signature from Beckett Authentication Services and PSA/DNA, and an LOA from Heritage Auctions.
Jordan would go on to win seven scoring titles during his 15-year NBA stint, including a career-high 37.1 point average during the 1986-87 season. That would be the first of seven consecutive scoring titles, interrupted only by Jordan’s decision to skip basketball in favor of baseball during the 1993-94 NBA season.
He would return and win three more scoring titles, pouring in 32,292 points during his illustrious career.
The sneaker marks the beginning of a legacy that would see Jordan lead the Bulls to six NBA titles.
Heritage believes the shoes could sell somewhere in the neighborhood of $1 million when bidding closes Saturday night.  As of Thursday evening, bidding had already reached $500,000.

Got one of the game worn Riveters jerseys from the NWHL Lake Placid Bubble via the MeiGray Group's website.
The team crest is embroidered, a definite step up from the replicas. Interestingly, the crest itself is not sewn on, seems to be a permanent heat press (since I don't see any stitching on the inside).
The 'End Racism', Lake Placid Isobel Cup, and Dunkin patches are all sublimated twill that are sewn down.
The remainder of the details on the jersey (the K1 logos, NWHL logo, and the MeiGray Group logo) are sublimated on to the jersey material.
But the coolest thing about this jersey is the riveted panel design and Rosie logo they put on the inside of the shoulders. Had no idea that was part of the design.
