ok in retrospect there is something deeply funny about how sanji literally participated in the destruction of enies lobby but for some reason thought "yeah but luffy wouldn't do that for ME lmao" and then lo and behold, luffy did in fact do that for him
and is that not a testament to just how little self worth Sanji has cause like LMAOOO when people go "HOW did Sanji not know Luffy would come after him" BECAUSE HE HATES HIMSELF!! HE DOESN'T EVEN THINK HE SHOULD EXIST THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT OF WCI HE JUST HATES HIMSELF LMAOOO

I know your (excellent and co-signed) opinions on garp and luffy, but what do you think about mr dragon? 👉👈
I LOVE HIM. I WANT HIM CARNALLY AND I LOVE HIM.
People who don't like Dragon or think he's a bad parent CANNOT read between the lines bro. Oda even said Dragon is the most wanted man in the world, of COURSE he couldn't bring Luffy with him on his journey or that would endanger Luffy.
The literal first time we saw Dragon he was saving Luffy and yelling for Luffy to chase his own dreams! He LOVED that Luffy became a pirate! He always looks to the east and he even told Kuma a child is a parent's greatest weakness.
I see a man who loves his son so much, longs to see him again, but can't be with him due to risking his child's safety. Dragon clearly wants to better the world, to create liberation for all, and he would OBVIOUSLY be doing part of that FOR HIS SON! Dragon is a Revolutionary that wants his child to have a better future, and he's had to sacrifice his life and being with his OWN CHILD to make that happen. People who don't like Dragon simply DON'T THINK ABOUT ANY OF THIS because HOW can you not love him once seeing the tender heart this man has?!
Basically I am Dragon's biggest defender.

I am utterly fascinated by people that watch or read One Piece and come out thinking that there's nothing wrong with the marines or the world government like bruh are we seeing the same thing
My favourite ones are the ones that say "But overall the marines are doing more good than pirates" as if we haven't seen the marines take part in genocide while also protecting slave owners like ?? THIS is who you think is doing more good?? It's literally shown to be incredibly rare when a marine ACTUALLY wants to protect civilians, you'd think Smoker's introduction - with everyone worried he's about to get mad at a child - would set the landscape for how marines are seen by civilians in this world.
Not to mention when Law was a child, and after his whole town got burnt to the ground, he was quite literally terrified of marines! He hated them so much Corazon had to lie to him about being one, AND Corazon decided he had to quit the marines if he wanted to keep Law safe after Law had been cured (but he died lol rip to a baddie). Like oh geez hm I wonder why Law hates the marines? I wonder why this sick kid from a village that the government ordered to be burnt down hates the marines? Real head scratcher there!
The copaganda is crazy cause they claim pirates are the ones who are violent murderers who will just kill...AS IF WE HAVEN'T SEEN THE MARINES DO THAT?? But it's even WORSE when the marines do it because they believe any lives they take to be JUSTICE?? Like hey remember when the marines were trying to find a pregnant Rouge so they were running around an island terrorising and implied harming/killing pregnant women just to stop any possibility of Ace being born?? But yeah no the marines are the ones doing the most good in the one piece world ofc ofc
My other favourite ones are also the ones that hard separate the marines from the world government, as if the world government isn't the marines' boss. The marines are literally the world government's lap dog and tons of ppl don't want to acknowledge that so they're just on copium about it, hence you have people saying shit like "But SWORD is different it's only Marine controlled!!" as if an established military organisation with WG backing being totally free to do whatever it wants isn't the most terrifying thing ever?? Not to mention you have SWORD existing and the first thing they do is...help another marine. It's clear as day SWORD exists for the marines' benefit and not any civilians benefit yet people will still try to make SWORD it's own 'good' entity away from the world government or 'regular' marines because they just want the marines to be good so bad like don't make me LAFF!!!!!
The funniest part is, people want the marines to be for the benefit of innocent civilians so bad that they bend over backwards to try and reason why the marines actually exist for the good of the world and not just for their own benefit. But we DO have one organisation that genuinely DOES want to save people, who we have watched SAVE a near WHOLE ISLAND of people. We ALREADY have an organisation whose whole thing is existing for the benefit of innocent civilians, AND THAT'S... THE FUCKING REVOLUTIONARY ARMY LMAO.
Dragon is even an EX-MARINE who claims the marines did NOTHING that even remotely resembled JUSTICE, and you'd think the Revolutionary Army even EXISTING would make people realise just how little the marines ACTUALLY do, but they're so busy sucking the admirals off silly style THEY JUST IGNORE THE REVOLUTIONARY ARMY COMPLETELY!! RRRAAAAAHHH!!!!!

Oh my God I literally got into an argument with my brother because of Garp LMAO I also thought he didn't do right by Ace, every time someone says Garp couldn't do anything for Ace I bring up Corazon and what he did for Law NOW THAT'S WHAT YOU CALL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
"GaRp coULdn'T do AnYThinG fOr aCE!!"
Actually he could do everything for Ace he just didn't want to compromise his position as a marine, especially as the hero of the marines. Garp had multiple chances to help Ace, to fight for Ace, to help Ace escape, and what does he do?
He goes to Ace's execution platform, sits next to him, and cries some big fat crocodile tears over why oh WHY couldn't Ace have listened to him?
Ie, why couldn't Ace pick a life where Garp could help him without forcing him to compromise his JOB? And boy oh boy doesn't that sound like Garp is sooo trapped? :((
One of them was quite literally in chains, the other one was wearing a uniform complaining that he just can't do anything. Imagine telling someone they should've just accepted a system that absolutely fucking hated them with a HOPE that MAYBE that could save them one day, even though Ace TOLD Garp they BOTH knew him being a marine would've still gotten him killed. Because Ace knew full well how much the world saw him as the devil's spawn, and Garp's stubborn trust in the marines kept him purposefully blind.
Garp's 'chains' were his own ideals, and his ideals decided he can't actively save his own grandchild who he promised to protect because he just can't go against the marines.
Garp chose a system over his grandkids, people who don't want to accept that just want to make Garp a victim in a situation where ACE and LUFFY were the victims. As always, Dadan beating the shit out of Garp was there for a reason, because she was right in how it was unacceptable for him to do absolutely fucking nothing.

i know you probably won't see this but in case you do see it... Do you know if Oda calling Yamato Oni no ko in the cover story is his way of saying he's a women? i do call Yamato he/him!!! (that's what himself and other call him!! and i truly believe he's a man) but i saw a somewhat popular op creator say it was Oda's way to refer to him as a woman, so i just want an expanation from a more reliable source (that's you) lmaooo
I won't get into a fight with the creator i saw! i just want to know if she's wrong so i can not longer support her/believe everything she says!!!
Also, if you do see this and don't want to answer that's finee (sadly i know this topic can be controversial in this fandom 😞 )
Love your videos sm!! and sorry if my grammar is not great, im not a native english speaker! take care✨
'Oni no Ko' (circled in the image below) literally just means 'ogre child' as 'ko' means 'child' lol. From what I've been told 'ko' can be used as a feminine thing, but that's usually only for...actual names?? And not only is that not a solid rule, but the kanji itself in that instance doesn't mean...child LMAO this 100% is just 'ogre child'.
It's the same way cat is 'neko 猫' but kitten is 'koneko 子猫', and dog is 'inu 犬' but puppy is 'koinu 子犬'. The 子 symbol means child for sure it's not being used in any feminine way, it's just child LOL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My friend obviously helped me out with this but I'll be honest, this is such basic Japanese that I have no idea what the other person is on about LMAO seems like an insane stretch

Okay I didn't find if anyone has ever talked about this to you, so I bring it up. I like your videos and takes on one piece, but I must say that I disagree with you about Garp's answer to Ace when he ask if he had right to be born in the world.
Like, I don't think it was about "he needs to prove himself to the world". For me it was more like Garp's rough way to encourage Ace to live and make his own conclusion. It's probably depends on translation, as in my language it was translated basically "(you) only find it out by living". Of course Garp could've said "of course you have", but maybe he felt like that answer wouldn't have satisfied Ace. I mean, I don't think Ace was in right state of mind to accept such answer, only later on with Luffy when circumtances were different.
I say this so respectfully because I've gotten this reasoning tons of times before from other people, but I do not care what Garp's intentions were lmao. If a literal child says to you "Should I even be alive?" your answer, POINT BLANK, should be YES. No matter how you put it, Garp's answer was essentially telling Ace to PROVE he should be alive, or to EARN being alive, which is bullshit. Like "You can only find out if you should be alive by living" ??? And then we wonder why Ace spent his whole life searching for, oh I don't know, SELF WORTH??
Even if Ace wasn't in the right state of mind, he was a CHILD. You don't think someone straight up telling him "Yes OF COURSE you should be alive!" wouldn't help him tremendously??
We also have a line from Franky in Water 7 as he says to Robin "Existing isn't a sin!" and we see just how much that helped someone like Robin. So why can't a belief like that, or an answer like that, be extended to Ace? Why doesn't Ace get that kind of reassurance as a CHILD from Garp??
It's even hammered home how bad Garp's answer was when Ace treated Luffy HORRIBLY and, when Ace asked Luffy if he needs him, Luffy said "Of course!"
Ace proved absolutely nothing to Luffy, and Luffy still said "I want you here!"
What Garp said to Ace was undeniably stupid and cruel to me, because he was trying to push Ace into a life HE thought Ace needed to live. Even when Ace was caught, sentenced to be executed, Garp yelled "Why didn't you listen to me and join the marines?!"
Garp's answer was essentially telling Ace to prove to the WORLD why he should be alive, which is a horrible thing to say to a child. You can twist it any way you want but it's clear what his intentions were and how what he said will always circle back around to Ace needing to find a reason to exist. I do not care what kind of reasoning was in Garp's head, because what he said to Ace didn't help him at all. Luffy helped Ace more than Garp ever did because Ace NEVER had to prove his life to Luffy, and Garp being a horrible mentor to Ace is only further proven when Dadan punched the shit out of Garp because he did NOTHING to help Ace.
Garp made some horrible mistakes with Ace, I see that as one of them. I don't care what the reasoning is, it should be acknowledged that Garp's answer was way too cruel for a child to hear. Especially when what Garp told him clearly followed him into his adulthood, and is one of the reasons he even THANKED people for loving him.
He showed gratitude for people LOVING him, because he didn't think he was WORTH that love, and you expect me to try and reason around Garp telling that child he needs a point to be alive? I don't think so.

Hello Mel!
I love your Sanji rants and vids! I'm not sure if you've covered this anywhere else, but what do you think of Sanji's "if I'm not myself, kill me" moment?
On one hand, Zoro's a man of his word and would absolutely do his best to uphold his promise; but on the other, Sanji is his nakama. Zoro literally sacrificed himself in place of Sanji and Luffy, so I find it hard to believe Zoro would allow one of his nakama to die (or be killed) without a fight.
Basically, do you think that their death pact is Sanji's way of making sure Zoro keeps him accountable? And do you think there's a possibility for Sanji to become Stealth Black in the future?
I've talked about this a lot in different places but yes I 100% think the reason Sanji chose Zoro is because he thinks Zoro is the best person to carry out the promise. Not only do Zoro and Sanji have this understanding between each other - which comes in the form of a 'secret' with what happened on Thriller Bark as they both saw how self sacrificing the other was for the crew (yes, Brook and Robin saw it, but that moment wasn't between them and is not for them to share. This is why Brook/Robin have never told anyone of what happened on Thriller Bark). BUT Sanji also understands how much a promise means to Zoro, he literally SAW Zoro's promise to himself and to Luffy during the Baratie. As we know, that moment impacted Sanji greatly, and Zoro's whole scene at the Baratie was even one of the reasons Sanji decided to join the crew.
When it comes to Thriller Bark, the 'nothing happened' scene cemented Zoro and Sanji as the wings, while also giving us an insight of what Sanji and Zoro think of each other. Sanji believes he embarrassed himself due to Zoro being the one to actually take Kuma's pain, but Brook assured him Sanji's own resolve was equally as admirable as Zoro's. And, if we fill in the blanks, we can definitely see Zoro refuses to let anyone die, hence why he refused to let Sanji take his place in front of Kuma. Either way, Thriller Bark was a huge arc for Zoro and Sanji, because it gave them something specific and insane - a secret they have to keep from LUFFY.
They both know how angry Luffy would be if he found out they tried to die in HIS place, and they also wouldn't want Luffy to feel that guilt. At the same time, SANJI now feels that guilt due to the damage Zoro took from Kuma, and I see this as an unspoken tension between the two of them - especially when we consider how desperate, frustrated and terrified Sanji was when being knocked out by Zoro and finding Zoro standing in a pool of his own blood. So, as controversial as this idea might seem...I think? Sanji has become Zoro's emotional pillar to lean on.
I can't exactly say it works vice versa, because WCI was an example of how Sanji isn't afraid to rely on Luffy - even though he felt guilty to do so until Luffy...quite literally punched his love into him LOL
As the wings, Luffy relies on THEM to boost HIM up, and Zoro takes this very seriously. But when Zoro needs the help, who can he turn to? Well, probably the guy he shares a whole ass secret with that not even their captain can know about! The biggest moment to portray this is in Onigashima, when Zoro was knocked out on the rooftop to protect Luffy (and others), and Sanji literally CARRIED and BANDAGED Zoro on the battlefield afterwards. While Zoro could feel some guilt regarding not being strong enough against Kaido, he is comfortable enough to sleep on Sanji's shoulder and trusts in Sanji keep him safe.
Sanji saw Zoro in Thriller Bark, after all. He not only saw Zoro at death's door, but in a vulnerable state of desperation to keep the captain and crew alive. Promising death together, in front of each other, or for one another...is an incredible act of affinity to me! Zoro had one foot in the grave in front of Sanji before, so Sanji protecting him as he's totally immobilised on a battlefield isn't going to really bother Zoro!
Yet, as we get to the death pact, the matter of death comes up again. Instead of a promise made to an outside source - which Zoro can throw himself in front of - this is a promise made BY a crewmate. Zoro can't just replace Sanji in this situation, he can't knock Sanji out and keep him safe, HE has to kill HIM. I always saw this as Sanji not only being at his most vulnerable with Zoro, but as a cruel payback for what Zoro put Sanji through in Thriller Bark. Not in any malicious way, of course, but as an ironic twist of fate that Zoro simply cannot escape.
Can't replace Sanji, can't save Sanji, can only kill Sanji - and now Zoro has to suffer possibly seeing Sanji with one foot in the grave. Or worse...IN the grave.
All this to say, I do not believe Zoro could kill Sanji because I agree with you, I can't see him ever killing a crewmate. They mean too much to him, all of them, and Sanji is part of the Strawhats. Not to mention, as I said, I believe Sanji is a pillar Zoro can lean on - and he's being asked to quite literally destroy that pillar.
Yet, Sanji has so little self respect and sees Zoro as someone so overly ambitious I think he thinks Zoro can kill him if needed. As much as I believe Sanji can read Zoro, I think he's vastly underestimated just how much...he means to Zoro?? And I don't even mean that in a gay way or ship way, just in a general crewmates way. I think what Sanji has asked Zoro is entirely too cruel, because Zoro will break that promise, and I don't think Sanji even sees it that way. Yet, Sanji apologised for what he's asked of Zoro, meaning he knows it's a big ask for Zoro to kill him - I just don't think he knows how big of an ask it really is.
Sorry I rambled, but yes I think there's a full possibility of Sanji mutating completely because I cannot see Sanji's new, sparkly superpowers that make him the deus ex machina of battle heavy moments existing without some kind of drawback. Even Gear 5 has drawbacks, surely Sanji is snowballing into some horrible situation. How Zoro will handle that...is beyond me! I hope there's crying!

All this garp talk has me thinking, how would you compare garp and vegapunk as old men participating in the system?
I don't think they're really comparable because Vegapunk hasn't promised himself over to a system or position of 'justice'. Vegapunk was incredibly blinded by his lust for knowledge, to the point he accepted funding from the WG while lives were used at his will to make new discoveries, and I guess there's a similarity in Garp and Vegapunk both wanting to make a better world out of their own means.
But the difference between Garp and Vegapunk is... Vegapunk didn't end up passively accepting the death of people for a 'greater good'. Vegapunk also realises his mistakes, owns up to his mistakes, and feels regret in a way that pushed him to ACTUALLY do something.
He made sure the pacifista bots could never hurt Bonney, he knew this would get him killed, and after being killed, he spread a message to the entire world - defying the world government - in hopes of saving people.
I believe Vegapunk has no belief that what he was ever doing was justice, he just got so invested in science he didn't see how the WG would use his creations against him in disgusting ways - to the point they burnt Egghead down, the island being Vegapunk's magnum opus. He also didn't realise some of the experiments he was carrying out were cruel to living beings until it was too late, but again, he acknowledges he was totally blinded by scientific discovery.
As I've said before, I do believe there's some purposeful inspiration from Oppenheimer when it comes to Vegapunk's story - as Oppenheimer was creating what he thought would contribute to world peace, just to create a nuclear arms race that he regretted and haunted him for the rest of his life. But he was so invested in the 'good' it could do he didn't stop to consider what he was creating could be a monster.
Vegapunk isn't supposed to be a morally perfect character by any means, but I will always commend him a million times more than Garp because he actually put his life on the line and went against the system for a child he refused to kill or see killed. Vegapunk did not passively move against the WG after realising the mistakes he made, he ACTIVELY moved against them. However, once again, Vegapunk had no loyalty to any marine or WG system, so I don't believe he can really be compared to Garp due to how Garp is chained by his marine ideals.
If anything Sentomaru and Kizaru are the two who should be compared to Garp, as one was completely passive when it came to being ordered to kill an old man and little girl, and the other quit the marines right there due to believing the orders too horrifying and too cruel to carry out.

Ennies Lobby/Sabaody established that Zoro can erase memories from his head if they are too traumatic (like granny Kokoro)
So what if Zoro did witness his parents's death, but they were so traumatic that he erased them? Then Koshiro never talked to him about it so he always assumed that he got left behind?
this is cracking me up so bad because I love that you're equating the trauma of Zoro's whole family being killed off to him seeing a half naked grandma mermaid LMAOOO

Regarding why Shamrock isn't called a "Saint"
Maybe it has to do with who his and Shanks' mother is (was?). So we know their dad is Figarland Garling but we don't know their mother. Maybe their mom wasn't a Celestial Dragon? Maybe she was a slave like how Ginny was forced to have a baby with a CD?
So like Figarland had kids with a slave or a civilian or whatever and since both parents weren't a CD, that means Shamrock can't be a full Celestial Dragon "Saint" either. Like he's allowed to be a Holy Knight but can't have the Saint title.
Do you have thoughts on this theory? It's really the only plausible theory I could think of besides Oda just forgot to put "St." in front of Sham's name.
Hi hi! I do not think Oda forgot at all because in that same title card for Shamrock, it says he's the son of St. Garling directly under the name. If anything it really feels like Oda is drawing attention to the fact Shamrock ISN'T a St.
Tumblr media
There's also the addition that the other Holy Knights, St. Sommers and St. Killingham, seem to somewhat talk down to Shamrock. Apparently it's a lot more apparent in the original Japanese that they do this, so there seems to be a gap there.
For why this is, I agree with your theory and believe it's possible Shamrock is just a bastard child. It's very possible his mother (and Shanks' mother for that matter) was a slave, and perhaps Shamrock was then groomed to be a soldier by Garling. That would also make sense for why, as a baby, Shanks was just in a treasure chest in god valley? Perhaps the winner of the hunting competition got a new slave, and perhaps Garling decided to keep one of the twins to raise in the way he wanted.
It really stands out to me because every single Celestial Dragon we have ever met was a St, no matter the age or position - married or not. So it can only stand to reason you are born a St, the Celestials seemingly believing they are just born gods, and someone who is not born of 'pure' Celestial Dragon blood cannot be a god. Ie, they cannot be a St.
After all, Bonney was born from Celestial Dragon blood, but she was NEVER considered a St. OR a Celestial Dragon. She was just a slave child, therefore she was treated like a literal lab rat...which is horrifying. Egghead proved to us that if you are not born of complete Celestial blood, you do not get the St. title or benefits of a Celestial Dragon, so it's very easy to jump to the conclusion that Shamrock's mother was probably a slave.

I mean he also follows some Andrew Tate groupies as well but we knew that ages ago. What I think is this is why I don't like and discourage celebrity worship and especially hated that ppl kept tying a character I liked to a real life man I didn't even know LMAO
