Girls Day in LA!

So my cousin is back in town on holiday break from college! Woo! Now she is the...crazier one of the sister/cousin cohort? She is the person to say, “I saw something on Tik Tok, let’s recreate it.” So, she suggested we go to LA. Why not, I mean so many people idolize this place that is 30 minutes away (with no traffic) and the last time I was there, maybe for college? 

So what was the plan, plan was to go to the Melrose Trading Post, on Melrose and Fairfax in LA. Melrose Trading Post is kind of like a high end swap meet kind of thing? I loved going to the Swap Meet in La Mirada as a kid and haven’t been to a swap meet in years. I highly suggest parking in a local neighborhood and walk, walking is good for you. 

It was a large area, a lot of different booths. LA is kind of its own experience. The “I bring my tiny dog everywhere so what” people were out, the guys who looked more fabulous than I did (even though I tried to look good), the crowd that you really could not tell who was really straight or their birth gender...you know...LA. The fashion there was very vintage, and I hate to say this but what was not vintage felt like it was stolen? But I loved the finds that did make it home. 

Besides that walking back to the car had stops at iconic stores for LA like RipNDip, Supreme, and Dolls Kill. I have to say, as much as I have a love hate relationship with fashion, I appreciate all aspects related to it more since I understand it. Like, just from this photo alone, RipNDip is an experience that gives even without spending money. I also have to say, I don’t understand some of the labels out there...like supreme. They are smart I guess since they don’t make anything just put their label on stuff, but why are people paying those prices for branded goods? Just Saying. 

I loved this store. My BFF turned me onto this store, digitally, but to see it in person is just a whole other experience. I was going to leave this store with something. I ended up leaving with a green and purple bdsm dragon purse, its a little small for me to use it right now but I will. We ended up stopping by Milk Bar for sweets and then brave the traffic home. It was a lovely day had by all.

How fun are these!!! I popped into @melrosetradingpost yesterday afternoon on a mission for specific items for a new window display @waverlyondoheny and I unearthed these gems in the bottom of a suitcase full of photos. Back in the day a night out on the town was captured by the in-house photographer and kept as a souvenir of your marvelous evening presented to you in a custom folder for a nominal fee of course. All the major night spots offered this service. I think they should bring this tradition back.
