Maybe the top is a bit too much for this skirt..but well.

This is me in my Double Circle Skirt.

You can twirl and twirl and twirl in this skirt because it has a lot of volume!

And this is the first thing that comes to my mind, when i'm thinking of 50s: big, volumunous skirts!

So I decided to participate in an Instagram-based challenge called Me Made May, meaning I have to wear at least one article of handmade clothing every day this month (and take pics). So far I'm having fun with it, and I'm aiming to see it through to the end. There'll be new makes showing up, as well as old makes that I've dusted off to see if I still like wearing them.

One thing's for sure: outfit planning has made me realise that I really, really need to sew more things for my bottom half. I've made lots of tops and dresses, but only three skirts and zero pants. Pants fitting seems so damned complicated, though - there are so many more ways that things can fit poorly than with skirts or dresses. Bah.

I'm still waffling on whether or not I should post my daily photos here as well as on Instagram.

Finally got around to sewing myself a running belt! (A stretchy band worn around the waist that holds your keys, phone, ID, etc if you don’t have pockets or your shorts are so skimpy an iPhone would drop them.) And I broke it in this afternoon on a 6.2 mile run. Which is *apparently* a thing I do now. 😵😱 I have definitely been using running as an excuse to get outside during quarantine and to expend some of the energy usually devoted to hockey which I miss SO MUCH. (I was supposed to be playing a pirate-themed tournament in Toronto this weekend. 😭) I’m glad to have something to focus on even if running in the summer heat is going to suuuuuuck. This week we were supposed to be hanging out on a beach in Portugal, surfing & eating all the pastel de nata in sight. Maybe next year, & then I will wear my linen knits, like this Nema tank, and, not particularly visible here, a jersey skirt I made by just taking a square of jersey, sewing the edges together and putting a hem on it. #memademay May 30. (Yes, yesterday.) A few years ago I bought a cheaply made, poor fitting dress from a fast fashion store, because my luggage got lost. We live in a neighbourhood with lots of families & it is not unusual to hear a small child having a meltdown somewhere nearby.
