this is something that doesn't just start and end w/ hockey canada btw.
it's a tumblr blogger selling "crosbussy" merchandise to fans, and encouraging them to wear it to games. it is that very same tumblr blogger getting asked by a team to create their pride night merch. it is a tiktokker pointedly yelling "krak my back" next to home bench during warmups and making so many overt sexual comments both on and offline that a player's wife needs to speak up about it. it is seattle's media team intertwining itself so closely with the sexually explicit side of booktok that the franchise's reputation is permanently tainted.
it's a juniors coach assaulting the kids on his team and getting paid out by his organization. it is hockey canada and usa hockey continuing to push the envelope with what is excusable in their organizations. it is chronic drug and alcohol abuse being excusable until one of your players physically assaults his teammates.
it's a juniors player jumping out of a building and killing himself after failure to perform. it's a fifth overall pick refusing to show up to the team that drafted him because he's uncomfortable around the franchise staff, and becoming the joke of the league. it is said draft pick explicitly stating "i do not feel safe around [these] specific men" and the entire league calling him an entitled pussy anyway.*
it's a coach demanding to see the phones and private photos of the men he holds power over, threatening them with trades or waivers if they don't, and fans calling the men that speak up weak and soft.
this didn't come out of nowhere. you can't beat hockey culture out of hockey players from the top down. this starts with you, this starts with your kids, and this starts with what you say online. holding the nhl and hockey canada accountable doesn't mean shit when you yourself are part of the fucking problem.

Timeline: Part 9 - December 1-10 2017
For earlier timeline posts: click here or here.
December starts out strong with a daily bombardment of tons of stories about Meghan and/or Harry. Their PR backs off in the middle of the month, but only barely. Luckily for us, there is salvation: Meghan gets her first, second, third, and fourth dose of royal criticism.
Like I mentioned in the November 2017 timeline, this month sees Meghan pulling her support from Star Magazine, US Weekly, and E Online. People Magazine begins to earn her loyalty instead.
Ok, apparently I exceeded the limit of links that can be in a Tumblr post. the December edition is going to be split up into smaller segments. I've got a solution for how to fix this going forward, but it's going to take some time to figure out how to implement it.
12/1/2017: Fleet Street has a fever and the solution is more Harkle coverage.
Doria is papped at a laundromat in California.
Another story about Ninaki's photos of Meghan.

Meghan leaks intent to visit US and Canada after the wedding in her first official foreign royal tour.
12/2/2017: Meghan's "draw your own box" essay goes viral again, as does her old Larry King Show interview. The Markles sell more pictures of Meghan, Meghan once tried to hook up with Ashley Cole but failed, and she makes a dig at William and Kate with a story about her and Harry holding hands.
12/3/2017: Meghan merches the Botswana camp again. The Times writes about Meghan's old instagram account and Bogart and leads speculation about bridesmaids and pageboys. Et tu, Times?!
Note: December 2 is a Saturday and December 3 is a Sunday. How nice Meghan's PR gave us a break for the weekend. But don't worry...the bombardment is back!
12/4/2017: Harkle Mania continues
About Meghan's ring

There may be some slight grammatical errors i'm going to go back over it soon!
Chappell Roan “Good Luck Babe”: The song “Good Luck Babe” by Chappel Roan has blown up online. I personally love the song and I love Chappell Roan. I love seeing any sapphic media in general but especially lesbian specific media. One thing that has come along with the success of this song has been debates online. Debates about comphet, biphobia and lesbiphobia. I couldn't help but join those debates but I quickly learned short form comments aren't the best way to express your opinion coherently.
I saw this one video on TikTok that I can no longer find. It may have been deleted. In this video this bisexual woman on TikTok talked about how she kept seeing this idea that if you identify as bi but you're unfulfilled by relationships with men then you aren't bi. She also brought up how consistently marriage hasn't always been the best for women and just because she is straight doesn't mean a woman will be fulfilled by a relationship with any man. It's also biphobic to say so due those reasons. The lack of fulfillment I reference when talking about the realization that you are a lesbian is very different from the lack of fulfillment straight or bi women can experience in a relationship. A woman who likes men can be unfulfilled in a relationship with a man but that reason does not boil down to the fact that they are a man. If you are a lesbian a man could be perfect, they could provide everything, treat you amazingly, you could even have a good sex life and think you're in love but still no matter what there's something wrong. It's not him or his actions, it's the fact that it's “a him” in the first place. The reason why so many women never realize they're a lesbian is because it's so normalized to be unfulfilled in a relationship with a man. But being is a lesbian not just being unfulfilled with men but being unfulfilled with men in a way that you aren't with women. Straight or bi women have the ability to truly love and be fulfilled by a man. Lesbians do not. This is not to say every relationship is fulfilling. Just because you're with the gender you like, you like this person and you're in a relationship doesn't inherently make the relationship fulfilling. Relationships are complicated and many of them can bring more stress and pain to one's life than love and happiness.
I have seen many TikTok comments say comphet isn't a lesbian only experience and any queer people can experience and I simply do not agree. Lesbians are unique, it is the one sexuality that doesn't include men. The entire world is structured around men, this is a man's world. Women to this day in Canada and the United States can't get sterilized without their husbands consent. Realtors and car salesmen will automatically talk to the husband even if the wife is the one with the money making the purchase. When a woman gets married she takes her husband's last name. From a young age women are socialized to centre their entire life around men. From what we wear, to how we speak, even down to our interests we're taught to change it for the fancy of men. I grew up watching romance movies and I always wanted my own Prince Charming. It seemed like in every show I watched aimed at young girls the happy ending was the main girl getting the guy she wanted. We're never our own people. We are first the property of our fathers then our husbands. But isn't that the issue? When you're a lesbian there is no husband. There is no fairy tale ending, there is no Prince Charming, there's no man to stand up for you against misogynistic men in general. When you realize that you feel like a failure. You want to fit in. You want to talk with your girl friends about your boy crushes and gossip with them. You want to be one of the girls, you want to be normal, you want to like a boy. So you do. You choose one or someone just happens to be available and at first you like the attention. You like the butterflies because you've never held hands romantically before. You even think about him at night and imagine what your first kiss would be like. Then your first kiss actually happens and something feels wrong. You try again and again and nothing makes sense because you thought you liked him. Then you kiss a girl and it all makes sense. I wished I was bisexual, because I at least could've had a chance of marrying a man.
Men can be men. They don't need a wife, sure it's an add on but it's more like a trophy or an accessory they bare. Men can find success while single, they can be respected while single and they don't need their wives consent to do things. Gay men don't have to mourn privileges they will no longer gain because they are gay due to their gender. Men in general will never have to worry about so many things women do. Comphet isn't just being closeted it's about survival in society. It's about you being in denial because your entire life you've been shown there's only one way to be happy and that's to love a man and you'll never love a man. I'm sure all of these issues get even worse in more traditional cultures where men have all of the power making ability.
Bisexual women also face homophobia. I have spent much of this talking about bisexual women liking men but I do want to highlight the fact that bisexual women are also queer. Bisexual women share in the pain of being a queer women. They are often fetitzhed by men even by men they're in relationships and like lesbians assaulted due to the fact they like women. I don't think bisexual women are any less queer than lesbians but I do believe we go through different experiences. We both share the joy and pain of loving women but bisexual women will never understand the pain of not liking men.
Chappell Roan is a lesbian who makes songs about the lesbian experience. I've seen some people talk about the bridge and how they didn't realize it was about a lesbian and instead thought it was about a straight woman.
“When you wake up next to him in the middle of the night
With your head in your hands, you're nothing more than his wife
And when you think about me, all of those years ago
You're standing face to face with "I told you so"
You know I hate to say it, I told you so”
This commenter expanded by saying they just assumed it was about a straight woman who had lost her identity to her husband. I could understand how someone could come to this conclusion after one listen but I think after another few listens you can completely tell this song is about being a closeted lesbian.
This song to me almost feels like a secret summer love affair. One person wants to tell everyone and scream about their love from the rooftops and the other isn't ready to come out. They aren't ready to call what they have love because if they actually admitted it they would be admitting they never truly loved a man. They would have to come to terms with the fact they won't have a “normal” life, they won't have a nuclear family and no matter what not everyone will approve of them. These two people then split down two different paths. One accepts who they are but the other goes on to live a lie. They marry a man despite who they truly are and this bridge is the manifestation of the betrayal of your true self.
Someone's personal interpretation is different from the intended interpretation by the artist. Having your own interpretation is completely valid and it's one of the main things that draws peoples to art. But when art is made with a specific audience in mind actively speaking over those people and saying “oh well I think it's actually about this.” Is just whataboutism. Not everything has to be about everyone and you can relate to something without it being about you.

Why the hell would a man want his junk waxed by someone not trained to deal with duck and balls? Unless he gave a female name and didn’t disclose his sex so he can create a video for social media clout. And no he is suing for “moral damaging”. He exposed his junk to a to someone who thought they were working on a woman then got angry. If anyone should be saying for moral danger it’s the salon workers.
A Brazilian man who says he is “trans” and adopted the name Kim Flores Carlos, has filed a lawsuit against a waxing salon, which refused to serve him last year. Carlos booked a waxing appointment at Millanea Instituto de Depilação with the owner, Isabel Martins da Silva, by telephone.
But, when Carlos came to the salon for his appointment, they turned him down for being male. He recorded the interaction with an esthetician and with the owner, and uploaded it to his TikTok. It is said that he later removed the video from his account, but the video ended up on YouTube and went viral, with thousands of likes and shares.
Carlos also left a one star review about the salon on Google, saying that they refused to attend to him because he is a “transwoman.” He said the staff informed him that they don’t service trans people and don’t know how to “work” with his body. “They have no qualifications or work ethics about ‘diverse bodies.’ All the waxing clinics I went to strived for my comfort and well-being and offered a humanized service. Shame on this salon!”
On December 13, 2022, Carlos filed a lawsuit online (Special Civil Court) against the waxing salon, demanding compensation for “moral damages.” The salon was given 15 days to respond, and is seeking legal advice.
According to Ms Silva, the man gave a female name, “Kim,” when he booked the waxing appointment. When he arrived at the salon on June 11, 2022, Silva took him to a private room and called the female esthetician who was going to attend to him. But the esthetician came back to the reception minutes later, saying that the client was a man who was only wearing male briefs, with full male genitalia (testicles and penis) and had an erection.
“That’s when I asked her to tell him that we didn’t do waxing on males,” said Isabel. She says that when the esthetician went back to the room where Carlos was, he started recording the interaction, first with an esthetician and then with Isabel at the reception.
In the video, Carlos can be heard telling the unnamed esthetician “I am a trans person, is this an issue? It isn't, is it?” The esthetician who was assigned to attend to him that day is seen saying “We only do women here.” The man then says that “In this case, I am a woman.” He asks the esthetician if she’s had experience with “trans people” and she informs him that she never attended trans people. “We don’t have anything against trans people,” she says, “we just don’t do it (waxing on male genitalia),” but told him she was going to take the issue up to the owner of the salon.
At this point, Carlos became angry and admonished the esthetician for not being trained in “all types of bodies.” Next, he was heard saying he is very upset because he has “never seen a waxing salon which doesn’t work with several types of bodies.” Further, he told the esthetician that they should have “specialized a little more” to attend to “all kinds of people,” questioning her: “Where is it written we don’t attend people with x or y genitals?’”
When the esthetician tells Carlos that the salon doesn’t wax men, he is heard saying “Then you have to put a sign saying ‘we only wax pussies.’” But Isabel told 4W that they have a sign at the salon’s entrance saying “No entry for men.”
The next woman in his video is Isabel herself. “You can see me in the video saying to him that we don’t wax male genitalia because the estheticians at my salon are not trained for that,” Isabel told 4W. The man says to the owner that it’s “embarrassing” for him to book an appointment and hear that they “only wax women.”
Carlos is heard saying to Isabel: “I wax for years, my [pubic hair] is very thin, I take hormones, what makes me different from other people? Is it my genitals? But, why do (my genitals) matter?”
This is not the first time a salon specialized in female waxing has refused to serve men who say they are trans. In Canada, Jonathan (who calls himself Jessica) Yaniv filed lawsuits with the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal in 2018 against at least 15 beauty salons after they refused the service to him for being male. The next year, after a judge found Yaniv “deceptive,” targeting “small businesses for financial gain,” the case was dismissed.

Hello. I am???
Hey. So I haven't missed that I've gotten lots of new followers and since I just started this page a month ago, no one here knows me so here we go.
My name is Chris. I am 19 and I've had a foot fetish for as long as I can remember. I'm a born and raised Canadian and still live in Canada. Now that I can, I love to post and share my feet online, along with other foot pics and videos I see online. I am a huge freak in bed and love to party from one moment to chilling in bed, cuddling, the next. I like more of an edgy style like, rock/emo/punk/alt. I am quite the creative person. I love many types of media like, Music, fashion, TV, drawing, painting, books, writing, dancing (I can't actually dance) acting and singing. I'm also extremely scatter brain, clearly, and goofy, or so I'm told by my friends. I'm an Aries. Oh and I LOVE food. I'm pretty good at cooking too. Clearly I have lots going on but I just like to live as full a life as I can. XD
I'm a Verse/Switch and have LOTS of kinks. Some of which include:
Feet
Sweaty/ Musky men
Dirty hard working men
foot wear ( Shoes/ Boots/ Flip flops/ Slides/ Socks )
And so much more...

all of the asks. (ask game)
(you don’t actually have to i partially just thought it would be funny to say this i can pick specific ones if you want but also please do if you want to)
This is hilarious. I will do all of them because why not.
favorite chore: organizing things mostly but sometimes even that sucks, sweeping, or not really a chore--- peeling potatoes
least favorite chore: cleaning anything that's sticky/slimy/etc
aquarium, planetarium, museum, or zoo: it really depends on the kind. The aquarium in my town has a really big otter enclosure, so I love that. I really really like planetariums and museums but don't go enough.
favorite kind of museum: The ones that are pretty much people's houses turned into museums especially big old fancy houses with old artifacts. I do love a good art museum of course too.
cooking or baking (and your favorite thing to cook or bake): baking and apple crisp. It has peeling, cutting, etc.
favorite thing in your room: My bookshelf or all of the quotes stuck up on my wall.
favorite class you’ve ever taken: I haven't gotten much variety yet. I really like choir, Spanish, and English though.
what kinds of clothes do you typically wear?: tshirts, jeans, overalls, sweaters, really anything but if you see it it makes sense.
favorite way to be creative (can be anything: playlists, outfits, drawing, writing, decorating cookies, anything.): WRITING but I actually kind of have done a lot. I paint some. I make cool outfits. I actually painted a bunch of jean jackets last summer while listening to the FLF audiobook. I might do that again.
are you superstitious?: Yes and no. I am in the ways that I think are funny like sayings and jokes and having a "lucky necklace." I used to be more so.
favorite article of clothing you own: It's either this gray sweater I found thrifting, my Evermore sweatshirt, or my best jean jacket.
favorite way to carry things (pockets, purse, backpack, etc): I apologize in advance for the rant this will cause. I want to say pockets, but I can not because WOMEN'S PANTS POCKETS FIT NOTHING. I also have to carry an Epipen which can't even fit in men's pants pockets so a purse. I like satchel like purses that can fit a book.
what things do you usually have on you when you leave the house?: As stated before my Epipen, my phone which has my wallet stuff in it, a purse, a book, headphones, chapstick, some cash, etc.
favorite errand: grocery shopping or essential other things
dream job: a librarian who writes books in her spare time (with a dog and a cat <3)
favorite thing get when going out to eat: a burger or spaghetti usually
when did you lose your first tooth?: first tooth lost was pulled by the dentist, and I didn't know what was going on. It was HORRIBLE. I have gotten many pulled actually. First "naturally" lost was because my friend's friend hit my chin with her knee while we lifted her in the air at recess. I lost it in Spanish class a few days later.
any childhood memory you want to share:
do you like camping?: Yes, but mostly because I was taken a lot as a kid.
have you ever gone to summer camp and did you enjoy it?: I went to girl scout summer camp but family camp, so my mom was there. It was fine.
favorite place to write things: At a table anywhere without too much distractions
lucky number(s): 4, 7, 13, 14, 16
favorite place you’ve traveled to: Canada probably or just somewhere camping
place you want to travel to: Broadway or London or the Netherlands (to meet an old online friend)
favorite snack: gold fish
favorite smell: lemon verbena
something you’re proud of: all the progress I have made
do you have any pets?: I had a bunny as a little girl. I loved her. I had a dog, but she died two months (ish) ago. I miss her.
do you want any pets that you don’t have?: I want to have a dog again someday. I also will probably have a cat someday. (If I could get an orange cat, I would name it Kell.)
favorite place to go in your neighborhood: THE LIBRARY DUH

The Disappearance of Michael Dunahee
Tumblr media
February 19, 2023
Michael Wayne Dunahee was born on May 12, 1986 to parents Bruce and Crystal Dunahee in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
On March 24, 1991, at only age 4, Michael disappeared from Blanshard Elementary School during his mother, Crystal’s flag football practice. The Dunahee family arrived at the school around 12:30 pm that day, and when they got there Michael asked Crystal if he could go play on the playground which was near the field where the practice was.
Crystal later claimed that she had a gut feeling that something was not right but agreed to let Michael go play and go over to the playground by himself. Crystal told Michael that once he got to the playground he was to stay there and “wait for Daddy to come.” When Bruce got over to the playground Michael was not there.
The Dunahee’s immediately called the police and around 50 people began to search for Michael. Michael was last seen wearing a blue hooded jacket, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tshirt, rugby pants and blue sneakers.
Michael’s case quickly became one of the largest in Canadian history, and is still known as one of the largest child disappearances in the country. Due to Michael disappearing within a very short time period, police considered the case an abduction rather than a missing child case.
Hundreds of tips began to pour in all across British Columbia and North America. However, the process was slow due to the fact that it was the early 1990′s. Police believe if there was better technology at the time, the case might be solved by now.
Authorities investigated individuals that were around the area Michael disappeared in and known sex offenders in the area, but came up with limited information. However, one witness came forward claiming that a man in his late 40′s or early 50′s was seen with a brown van close to the playground that day.
In April 1991, police re-enacted Michael’s disappearance with a brown van, hoping further leads would come from it, but nothing did.
In 2006, 15 years after Michael had first vanished, a man who looked similar to Michael came forward, though DNA testing determined he was not the missing child from almost 2 decades ago.
Early in 2009, authorities in Milwaukee, Wisconsin found a missing person poster of Michael in the home of a 62 year old man named Vernon Seitz. Seitz had admitted to a psychiatrist that in 1959, he had murdered a child when he was 12 years old and also knew about another child who had been killed. Seitz was found dead by police, due to natural causes.
In 2011, another man living in Chase, BC, resembled Michael, but after DNA testing it was determined he was also not Michael Dunahee. 2011 also marked 20 years since Michael had been seen. Other men were also ruled out as being Michael through DNA testing.
In 2020, a Tiktoker who went by the username “Shangerdanger” supposedly found the tshirt Michael had been wearing when he disappeared. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle shirt had been found in water, but when Michael’s family had reached out to the Tiktoker they discovered the shirt was not the same.
Michael’s case remains unsolved and in 2021 he had been officially missing for 30 years, though his case is still open. Also in 2021, an age progression photo was released of what Michael may look like as an adult. There was also an online tip portal for anyone to submit any information they may know of Michael’s disappearance or whereabouts. Since 1991, police have said they have received over 10,000 tips on the case.
Crystal Dunahee, Michael’s mom, became an advocate for missing children’s issues in British Columbia, and was the president of Child Find British Columbia. In 2002, Crystal actually was part of  introducing the Amber Alert system in BC with the RCMP as she felt that her son may have been found if a program like that had existed in 1991.
An Amber Alert is a message that is issued to everyone around a certain area that a child is missing and potentially could be in danger. Due to the use of cell phones, it has become quite easy to distribute information of a missing child to thousands of people within seconds. Thousands of children have been saved from Amber Alerts, and most regions in Canada have implemented these alerts.
In Esquimalt, BC, annually there is a charity called the Michael Dunahee “Keep the Hope Alive” Fund Run to help raise money for Child Find, organized by Michael’s sister, Caitlin.
It has been almost 32 years since Michael Dunahee disappeared, he would now be 36 years old.

1830s Thursday: Extreme Adventurers
A chronology of major expeditions of the 1830s in Fergus Fleming’s Barrow's Boys: The Original Extreme Adventurers: A Stirring Story of Daring, Fortitude and Outright Lunacy:
1829-33 John Ross takes a small steam ship into Prince Regent Inlet and is beset for four winters. His nephew James discovers the North Magnetic Pole in 1831.
1830-31 Richard Lander and his brother John successfully trace the Niger to its mouth.
1833-5 George Back travels down the Great Fish River in an abortive attempt to rescue John Ross.
1836-7 Back sails disastrously to Wager Bay.
1837-9 Hudson’s Bay Company overlanders Peter Dease and Thomas Simpson successfully map large stretches of Canada’s Arctic coast.
1839-43 James Ross journeys to Antarctica with the Erebus and Terror. He charts large areas of undiscovered coastline and discovers the live volcano, Mt. Erebus.
For popular depictions of these polar peregrinations, I look to the Linda Hall Library’s online Ice exhibit, which contains illustrations from many contemporary expedition narratives, such as the delightfully trashy The Last Voyage of Capt. Sir John Ross (1835), by Robert Huish.

It’s the Eighteen-Thirties all right!
Here is a scene from Narrative of an Expedition in H.M.S. Terror, by George Back (1838):

The Terror is beset in ice, but the three men in the foreground wear winter clothing that recalls an 1833 fashion plate with the full coat skirts, defined waists, and even the caps.

im a transmasc dude (they/them) from Malaysia so I thought I could share my experiences with transandrophobia from outside of a US context, since online Anglo trans discourse gets pretty US-centric at times
i did get labelled a tomboy fairly quick in my life, and i do remember having been bullied severely for not performing femininity correctly. it was only the girls in my class that would police my behaviour for not being feminine enough, although i got equally bullied from both the male & female classmates. it has been my personal experiences being bullied equally by both women and men, and sometimes women more so than men, that has stopped me from fully buying into most radfem rhetoric and get intensely uncomfortable with all the 'you have to be this femme to ride' bar that seems to permeate majority of queer spaces both online and irl. which kinda sucks since i first found queer community in predominantly sapphic spaces before i fully figured myself out as a gay/bi trans dude, and i'm sorta left feeling stranded after coming to terms with my gender and feeling that i can't have access to those spaces anymore. like i don't feel completely comfortable in predominantly cis gay male spaces either since i feel like an imposter in them
generally there's very little gnc women in Malaysia, even before i started T, just keeping my hair short and wearing more 'masculine' clothes got me gendered as a boy more often, whereas it was an equal 50/50 on getting gendered either way when I was still living in Canada since i was mostly assumed to be a gnc woman
i have had issues with bathrooms, even before i started T, with cleaners assuming i was a boy and i had to 'correct' them that i was in the 'right' bathroom. now that i'm on T, i feel like i have to go to the male bathroom so that i don't get harassed in female bathrooms. in an ideal world, i would prefer to go into all-gender/neutral bathrooms because i'm personally uncomfortable with having to stick to just one gender at all times. but if i had to choose, i tend to go into female bathrooms because that's what i was used to. i understand that women seeing a 'man' in their bathrooms would feel unsafe for many reasons, but idk, i generally feel more comfortable in female bathrooms especially since i have no desire to get bottom surgery, so i can't perform 'cis masculinity' in male bathrooms. ideally, more neutral bathrooms would be the solution since then i wouldn't feel like i have to perform either 'cis femininity' or 'cis masculinity' in either female or male bathrooms
not sure if any of my experiences would resonate with anyone else, but those are my experiences and i very rarely see anyone else with the experiences i've had
Thank you for sharing your experiences.

Zack Snyder teases ‘ridiculous scale’ RPG set in the universe of his new Netflix film — He’s good at sequences and set pieces, but I’m not sure Zack has successfully delivered a whole film at this point in his career… so I’m not expecting much from his even grander ambitions.

Hundreds of odd and unordered Uber Eats deliveries showing up in Los Angeles and New Westminster, Canada neighborhoods — It’s either the work of the world’s dumbest, most wasteful philanthropist, or a database glitch that got out of hand.
Google Pixel bug lets you “uncrop” the last four years of screenshots — Yeah, so, this is one of those stupendously stupid programming errors that would make you laugh if you discovered it in your own code, while being moderately horrifying when considered at a scale of tens of millions of people.
Ball games: did Prue Leith know she was wearing a suggestive necklace? — No, she didn’t. But it’s still priceless.
Modder creates tribute to their Elder Scrolls-loving mum so 'she can live on in every adventure I take in Tamriel' — Geeks can be really sweet. It’s easy to forget sometimes, but it happens.
Woman on speakerphone in Uber called in bomb threat to Walmart to prevent boyfriend's shoplifting arrest — I don’t relish one more person being tossed into the jaws of the Prison Beast, but on the other hand, some people are too moronic and self-centered to be running around loose.

Even in scams, women still get paid less than men — 🙃

The Societal Juxtaposition of the Dress Code
by killercrows
“They tell you while you’re young / “Girls go out and have your fun” / Then they hunt and slay the ones who actually do it.” – Taylor Swift, Nothing New
This is a contradiction familiar to most women: being told that they should feel empowered and confident, and then being shamed for demonstrating those same qualities. Popular culture tends to promote clothing choice as a way for girls to show their self-confidence, but sometimes they are oversexualized instead. Schools attempt to refute this using dress codes, however these rules ultimately reinforce the idea that girls’ bodies are inherently sexual, and that the responsibility for “de-sexualizing” them falls upon girls themselves.
My school’s dress code essentially states that one’s torso, stomach, and butt must be entirely covered, as well as about 3-4 inches of one’s thighs. Even when appropriately enforced, girls tend to break the dress code more often than boys because of the way girls’ fashion trends are. Historically, wearing less clothing has been a way for women to express themselves outside of societal expectations. However, in modern times, this movement has been used by some as an excuse to oversexualize women and girls, often still calling it feminism. This can be seen in magazines, TV shows and movies, and at awards shows and other red-carpet events. A 2017 study found that “for girls, it is common to impose sexuality on them by making them appear older” (Speno and Aubrey, 2017) Constantly seeing young celebrities presented in a sexual manner can put pressure on teenage girls to imitate their style and be objects of sexual desire.
On the flip side, some people still strongly believe that girls should dress modestly. Girls are shamed for wearing revealing clothing, making them feel like they can’t win no matter what they wear. They want to fit in with what’s trendy among other teenagers and in popular culture. However, they also don’t want to be harassed, seen as “provocative,” or looked down upon by those whose respect depends upon how much skin they show.
This is where dress codes can be contradictory. While a dress code can be perceived as a way to tell preteen and teenage girls that they don’t need to be objects of sexual desire, it also tells them that their body is inherently sexual, that it is something to be ashamed of, and that they should feel guilty about their clothing choices (McGill, 2019). Boys, on the other hand, are not grappling with the same contradictions from society, and clothes marketed towards boys and men are much less revealing. Not only do men and boys face fewer consequences for perceived promiscuity, but there is less pressure on preteen and teenage boys to be objects of sexual desire.
So, are dress codes really to blame for our culture of shaming women for what they wear? Not entirely, but they are certainly a product. They force girls to be responsible for the objectification of which they are actually victims. Schools should be devoted to changing the way society views women and helping girls feel more confident in their identities and bodies without constantly sexualizing them. The teenage years are a time for figuring out who you are and becoming comfortable with yourself before you have to go join the real world, and dress codes restrict that short period of freedom.
