Jayson Tatum’s Olympic Rollercoaster: From Gold Medal to Uncertain Future
Jayson Tatum’s journey at the 2024 Paris Olympics was a bittersweet mix of triumph and frustration. While he secured a gold medal with Team USA, the experience was marred by limited playing time and a sense of underutilization.
Despite his All-NBA selection and NBA championship earlier this year, Tatum found himself on the bench more often than not, a decision that understandably left him feeling disappointed and undervalued.
In the gold medal game, Tatum played just 11 minutes, contributing a mere two points and three rebounds. His struggle to crack the rotation sparked widespread support and criticism, with everyone from Brad Stevens to Bob Cousy questioning the coaching staff’s choices.
The emotional toll of the Olympics has left Tatum pondering his future with Team USA. While he hasn't ruled out playing in 2028, he’s adamant that this experience won’t dictate his decision.
“It was a tough personal experience on the court, but I’m not going to make any decision based on emotions,” Tatum stated. “I’m not going to make any decision based on how this experience was or how I felt individually.”
Tatum’s words reflect a maturity and determination to separate his personal feelings from his future commitments. Whether he chooses to return to the Olympic stage in 2028 or not, his focus remains on his growth and development as a player.
This experience, though challenging, has undoubtedly fueled Tatum’s motivation. As he returns to the Celtics, fans can expect to see a player driven to prove his worth and solidify his place among the NBA’s elite.
The Olympics may have been a rollercoaster for Tatum, but it's clear that this chapter is far from over. The future holds endless possibilities for this young superstar, and the basketball world eagerly awaits his next move.

Week 1 & 2 working for CCAC
The first two weeks have been the introductory phase: one-on-one introduction meetings with all the connecting members of the team and getting a feel for their program. I'm mainly helping out the mens basketball team and upon accepting the internship, it was agreed that I can come in on my own time because I play on Point Park men's basketball team. Furthermore, after getting introduced to the coaches and players I got the chance to engage with the players and coaches at CCAC and take in account to a deeper look of their practice on Monday Nov 20. First of I had to get the basketballs on the court and prep for pre-practice as well as getting the pre practice schedule going so the coaches knew what they wanted to work on with the players. Coach has a diagram on google docs and I had the chance to get experience in editing those notes. We started off doing stretching to get the players warmed up followed by star passing to get everyone talking and moving. After that we moved into full court layup/shooting drills to work on full court fast break situations. Next, I helped the coaches with putting my hand up for contested shooting. One thing I noticed is how the players we engaged by cheering on their teammates which creates energy for practice which is always a great vibe. Within an hour into practice, I helped the coaches and players with press/play drills full court. In addition, we did box out drills for the players to work on rebounding the ball. After, I helped rebound free throws, then the guys started playing full court 5v5. I would take notes for the scrimmage and run the score board for the scrimmage. Lastly, when practice was over coach was giving out a post practice speech to the guys and that was about it. We would continue to do some of the same things over the next few days leading up to their next game.

Welcome,
I write to you with a heavy heart of sadness and anxiety. I recently launched a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to save my family in Gaza, but I didn't get the support we desperately needed. I lost everything recently, and I am now homeless and this loss has affected me greatly.
The situation has become unbearable, and I suffer from severe depression and suicidal thoughts.
I have nothing left, I'm tired, please deliver my voice
Participate and donate if I can, I need every $10 that will made me
