The man o war, commonly mistaken for a jellyfish, is a colonial organism made up of zooids that have different jobs in the colony. Despite the potent stings, there are some animals that are unaffected, such as the blue sea dragon, a kind of sea slug. These creatures feed on other animals found in the open ocean, including the man o war and other toxic siphonophores. Not only are they immune to the stings, the blue dragon stores the stinging cells from the man o war to use for its own hunting and defense.

@h0n3yk1tt3n i have like 10 minutes left of mermay and i had a joke w your au but i hated it so i scrapped it BUT i like this so i’m posting it and i’m just going to explain my joke

so freckles are formed with melanin right?? more importantly your skin absorbs uv rays from the sun blah blah allat. NOW stay with me glow in the dark things glow because the phosphors ABSORB light from the sun and THEN glow do you see where im going with this

i know damn well thats not how skin works and we have it more in our teeth and bones but whatever theyre mermaids and he lives in the deep sea in the DARK come on now its a stretch but it writes itself suspension of disbelief or something

so my joke was he didnt have freckles until he first saw the sun (obviously) and since hes never been exposed to the sun before he soaks that shit up like crazy (think how glow in the dark things glow the brightest when theyre new) and hes like a fucking disco ball when he gets home. image above for reference

so many versions of Fish...

original: sabito lionfish(xcatsharkxcoelecanth) & human giyuu met as kids, sabito goes to bother him(affectionate) @ his job at the aquarium(/merm rehabilitation/ocean research center usually. theyr Good)

1.5: sabito starts a mermaid theater group

2nd: vauge thought of traditional half-fish half-human mermaids, sabito as a white tipped reef shark. i forgot everything else :/

3rd: sabito & giyuu mermaids, giyuu gets seriously injured and a panicky sabito brings him to the aquarium, tries to follow them taking giyuu inside (shinobu & mitsuri trying to stop ~200lbs of Land Fish from going where he wants to go)

4th: all hashira mermaids, massive destructive hurricane/storm ripped through and they were some of the unlucky merms caught in it; local aquariums & water centers pitched in to help out the influx of injured merms & thats how they all meet

5th: mermaid giyuu & marine biologist sabito, sab finds fish out in the sea and it follows him home

6th: all humans mermaids, hashira + all the siblings/kids are a pod & get captured by illegal mermaid fishers which gets captured by authorities who find the fish in the brig(?) and take it to ppl who know what to do with them (aquarium) said ppl are the demons (humans now)

7th: some time pre-industrial era (all those^^ r modern) sabito as some worker on a ship that gets caught and capsizes in a nasty storm, gets rescued by giyuufish last minute [Castaways(barns courtny)]

okay okay, the first part is actually hard. i don't know. i'm not sure if leaving deku is really an option... like i think he'd... i think he could be a beggar but i don't even think. i think i'd die first actually before leaving him and i think even the slightest hint of watery eyes and deku would not go. wouldn't even have to open my mouth.

as for the second part of that question. deku. he'd be gone before i could even blink or try to tell him to not do so otherwise.

and then i'd have to go get bakugou to either drag his ass back or take me to him.

deku. not because i think he's a lightweight but because i don't drink.

that said i think it may take a bit to get him drunk. i also hate it when it happens because he's heavy LMAO. but he's very cute when he's drunk i think... very... clingy.

I saw all those trigger warnings and was like. nope, not for me, can't do it.

BUT IT HAS BEEN TUGGING AT MY MIND SINCE I FIRST SAW IT ON THE DASH.

so i had to go back and read at least some of it. i made it to the read more and had to stop because i know my heart won't be able to handle it when the inevitable happens.

BUT.

the bit i read was so beautiful. so haunting and sad and sladkldakldak!! honestly, fucking loved it. i wish i was made of stronger stuff to be able to read the rest, but i know i will be sad for literally weeks over it if i do. xD

So, i have to settle for loving the bit i read and telling you it is amazing and you're a wonderful writer and it's so much fun seeing all the different stories you can tell. 💕
