Spoilers for Hirogaru Sky's Christmas episode. Time to share my thoughts.
Tumblr media
So first off it's a very wholesome episode, definitely a pallet cleanser from Otona's finale. I really enjoyed it like always. Seeing each character get a chance to see their families was touching although saddening that Mashiro and Ageha couldn't see theirs in person.
Everyone moved into the main city of Skyland, Precure at the ready to defend them from Empress Undergu. It was nice seeing Tsubasa be in charge of the barrier and I'm assuming this is a part of his new job as sage using the mirror pad in this way?
To lift the spirits of the people the Precure do what they do best, hold a Christmas (Or Strichmas as it is called in Skyland) party. It was fun watching the antics and the interactions with other characters as they set this up. I like Sora's friendly rivalry with Beryberie although I wish we got to see more of it throughout the season.
Transforming was so unnecessary in this episode, there were no Ranborgs to fight so instead they used their stock animation to fight tornadoes that were trying to hurt Tasan (Skyland's version of Santa). Ageha also used her move once to make it snow which I think was fine. I understand wanting to use the stock animation though.
Sora and Mashiro are the cutest, I already posted the screenshots I took but here they are again.

They are the best ship this season totally rooting for them. Basically, Sora's hero book was on its last page so Mashiro got her a new one but to her surprise, Sora had bought her the same gift. After this scene in the last second, something happened. Elle grew? Or was it Elleelain? It was so fast and no explanation will be given until next week.
So if the rumors are correct and we have 50 episodes this season that means like 4 more...? I'm not ready to say goodbye yet, I love everyone in this cast so much! I'm having a lot of fun making these little recap/thoughts type of thing so definitely will do them for Wonderful and Mahoutsukai 2 as well.

Hirogaru Sky! Precure Episode 46 Review - Merry Strichmas
It sucks that you have to spend a holiday knowing the fact that your home could be destroyed at any minute due to a nefarious empress from an enemy nation having beef with a two-year-old. This is a filler episode, but a nice break before the plot resumes. I did like how this episode had no villains, the second instance since Episode 13.
Tumblr media
I like that each of the main Precures do something that transpired after their development. For Sora, she gives worldly wisdom to her brother Red who was being a bit reckless and almost tripped. For Mashiro, she was being helpful to those around her. For Tsubasa, he used the knowledge he gained and created a barrier across the capital after gathering every Skylandian into the city; that way, they won’t have to worry about casualties when the Underg Empire attacks. For Ageha, she wants to be moral support for her friends and the people in Skyland who are suffering from the impeding doom.
What I liked most is that Sora and Tsubasa’s parents actually involve themselves with helping the people in addition to their kids and the Precures. Tsubasa’s father Kakeru helps Remi and Mashiro with the cooking while Tsubasa’s mother Puwa and Shido distribute Strichmas flyers. Back in the first Sky Land arc, Tsubasa didn’t really involve himself with his parents before, but I feel like he has gotten closer to them in this episode; he even wanted to spend the night with his parents.
I like how in Skyland, their culture is practically similar to Earth but the syllables or appearance are tweaked a bit. For example, back in episode 10, Tsubasa wanted to eat Yakitai, which is a confection he ate in Sky Land, but it turns out that the Earth equivalent of it is Taiyaki. In Episode 25, when the Precures went to the zoo, Sora mentions that zebras in Skyland are blue and white—Earth animals that are black are blue in Sky Land. It makes sense that Christmas on Earth would be Strichmas. The only difference between Christmas and Strichmas is that while Santa is a concept on Earth, he is actually an owl named Tasan in Sky Land. I love the bits of Sky Land lore sprinkled out throughout this episode.
Because there are no villains, the Precures are free to dish out whatever moves they want. After so many episodes, Updraft Shining makes a return as well as Ageha’s palette; too bad Titanic Rainbow didn’t make an appearance. It was also nice to see SoraMashi share a moment; possibly the last peaceful one before the plot kicks in. It was nice to see that both of them exchanged diaries.
Now, the mystery behind the teen Ellee looms upon us. Did Ellee magically grow up? It can’t be Elleelain as there is a difference in hair styles; Elleelain has straight hair and Ellee has wavy hair. The apparition has wavy hair, meaning that’s Ellee. The answer will have to wait two weeks from now as next week is a break. What are your thoughts on this feel-good episode?

Christmas, or should I say Strichmas episode! Really cute and original way to see the girls use their abilities!

Pretty funny how Mashiro parents are surprised to not see a Christmas tree up 😂 she’s a little kid, man
With the defensive barrier set up everyone can take some time to enjoy the holiday. Was really sweet seeing everyone help out Tasan with his delivery route, ensuring the citizens of Skyland get their gifts! Even without fighting bad guys the precures save the day.

Very cute moment between Sora and Mashiro at the end. Sometimes it’s the smallest presents that have the biggest impact.

Merry Christmas everyone

-So long ago...
-Aw come now Wing, Butterfly's still a little ways away from Christmas getting-plastereding.

Um... Hi Azalea... my name's Nijigaoka Mashiro! I heard from a few friends that you've been a little lonely this christmas. I understand how that can feel, since my parents are often busy. I did get to see them this year, but it can be difficult when people aren't physically there!
Because of that, we wanted to send you well wishes! Merry Christmas from me and my friend Hijiri Ageha! She says that even if you're on your own, if you make sure to have tasty food and do things you enjoy, it can be "Totes Pizzazzed and Excitingly Wonderful!" - She has quite a way with words, right?
Um... my friends Tsubasa and Sora don't have christmas where they're from... instead they celebrate Strichmas, and have a large bird figure called Tasan that they know about! It's nice to see different cultures celebrating differently, right? And um... we've been looking after a girl called Elle... She wanted to type up a message, too.

Um, once again! Merry Christmas from me and Ageha! And Merry Strichmas from Tsubasa and Sora!
Hi Mashiro! Merry Christmas to you and Ageha as well! And Merry Strichmas to Sora and Tsubasa! It can be a little difficult, but everyone's messages have really made the day happy and warm for me! Thank you, everyone!
Ageha's certainly right, even if she's wording it a little more vibrantly than most people would, haha! I like the kind of energy she's giving off! Strichmas sounds interesting! It's kind of funny seeing it typed out in the Latin alphabet! When you do that, Strichmas and Tasan have all the same letters as Christmas and Santa, even though they're different holidays from different places! What a coincidence!
Thank you for the nice message, too, Elle! Merry Christmas and Merry Strichmas to you all as well! Thank you for making today feel warmer!
