Service mesh is a dedicated infrastructure layer built into an application that controls service-to-service communication in a microservices architecture. It controls the delivery of service requests to other services, performs load balancing, encrypts data, and discovers other services. Service mesh enables greater scalability in service-to-service communication. AWS App Mesh provides…

Tomás Saraceno’s "In Orbit,"
Suspended at a height of more than 25 meters above the atrium of K21 the installation appears as a surreal landscape: an ocean of clouds and floating planetary bodies.
The physically accessible work is constructed of near-transparent steel mesh that interlaces three levels spanning the glass dome’s immensity.
Five air-filled spheres open the layers of the net structure that encompasses an area of 2500 square meters.

Why expanded metal facades can be used in architecture
Expanded metal facades are increasingly popular in modern architecture due to their versatility, durability, and aesthetic appeal. Created by cutting and stretching metal sheets into a mesh-like pattern, this material offers both functional and design advantages, making it ideal for facades.
Reasons Expanded Metal Facades Can Be Used in Architecture
Durability: Expanded metal facades are made from high-quality materials such as stainless steel or aluminum, which are resistant to rust, corrosion, and weather damage. This durability makes them suitable for harsh environmental conditions.
Versatility: They can be utilized in various applications including cladding, sunshades, privacy screens, and ventilation systems. Their ability to be customized in shape, size, and color allows architects to create unique designs tailored to specific project needs.
Eco-Friendliness: Often produced from recycled materials, expanded metal facades can also be recycled at the end of their life cycle. This contributes to reducing waste and minimizing the environmental impact of construction projects.
Energy Efficiency: These facades can be designed to allow natural light and air flow into buildings, which reduces reliance on artificial lighting and air conditioning systems, thereby saving energy and lowering carbon footprints.
Security and Privacy: Expanded metal facades can restrict visibility into buildings while still allowing natural light and ventilation, enhancing privacy for occupants while providing an aesthetic appeal.
Aesthetic Appeal: The modern look of expanded metal facades can complement various architectural styles, making them a popular choice for contemporary building designs.
Cost-Effectiveness: Due to their strength and the efficiency of their manufacturing process (which generates minimal waste), expanded metal facades can be a cost-effective option compared to other façade materials.
Structural Integrity: The inherent strength of expanded metal allows it to be installed in larger sheets without the need for additional stiffeners, making it suitable for expansive applications like parking garages where free area regulations must be met.
In summary, expanded metal facades offer a combination of durability, versatility, eco-friendliness, energy efficiency, security features, aesthetic appeal, cost-effectiveness, and structural integrity that make them an excellent choice for architectural applications.
