Exhausted by predatory microtransactions

Saw some campy violent psychological thriller manga hyped in a video and it's only 39 chapters so I was like, sure, I'll give it a shot. Let's find out where to get this legally. I'll pay money to read this work.

But you can't just pay money, can you? It can't be that simple. You can't just pay a subscription either. The only place this manga is hosted is Comikey, which has a model I would describe as "dogshit tier".

First 3 chapters are free. Then you get one free chapter per day. Cute. What about those other 35 chapters? At the end of every chapter you get told it'll take 3 keys to unlock the next chapter. Buy some keys, get a one-off bonus of extra keys (those extra keys only last 5 days though, so Watch Out). Those keys run out. Did you know you could've bought multiple chapters at once and got more extra keys? You stupid bitch. Better buy some more keys, in a pre-set quantity that doesn't match up to how many keys you need to read JUST this manga, the only thing you want to do. Whoops! Those are gone too, but there's still chapters left in the manga! Some of those chapters are 4 keys, and some are only 2 keys because they're a shorter part-chapter instead of a full length. But don't worry about it because it's just silly little keys, right? Want to make a THIRD purchase for more silly little keys?

I gave up. I just abandoned the story because the means if access became such a confusing headspin that I no longer felt secure that I was being treated fairly as a consumer. They could've just slapped an upfront price on it, probably much higher than I spent in my failed attempt to read a completed work, and I would have been happy! I would have loved to purchase access to the content and not be bothered for micro transactions between EVERY. SINGLE. CHAPTER. For FUCK'S sake.

And my GOD the character assassination of Zelda is atrocious. She accidentally uses her magic to go back 10k years and then can't do the same because she's too stupid to figure it out. I know sword repairs and whatever, but honestly, that's at best a lame excuse.

The sages of the past are just mouthpieces to propagate the 'zonia king is great and vassalage is fo-shizal' and are also FACELESS non-characters who could all be replaced with dildos and might then at least be funny.

The fact that all the npcs are either like; oh wow we sure love being in the wreckage of an empire and hope to build a just as stupid empire that subjugates people the same way that the next version of ganon will wipe off the map because we've learnt NOTHING. Also, capitalism is great isn't it? Let's all work hard to make a bunch of money after we barely survived the apocalypse because money is soooooo important guys! Not community, not anything else! Honestly I hate the whole thing and was only there for the aesthetic, but god I wish bascially 90% of fan made stories were the actual story and I hope none of the other loz games follow suit in propaganda.

The Dragon’s Dogma 2 discourse (or DDD) really does provide a good example of why media criticism on the Internet is broken.
