midtrinary ✦ midtrine mtriaspec ✦ mtringender
midtrinary : see this and this post for explanations.
midtrine (midtrinity) / midtrinarine (midtrinarinity / midtrinarity) : midtrinary gender quality.
mtriaspec / midtriaspec : an umbrella term for anyone on the midtrinary spectrum. It includes all midtrinary genders, partial midtrinary genders, midtrinary aligned and adjacent genders, and genders which are in some way similar to / resemblant of midtrinity / midtrinarity.
mtringender / midtringender : an umbrella term for all genders midtrine / midtrinarine in nature.
Tumblr media
Some midtrinary stuff :D
[pt: midtrinary]
The midtrinary one is an alt flag, since I wanted one in the same style as my midbinary/abinary/atrinary alt flags. But the other ones should all be new, I came up with the names and definitions myself anyways.
Tumblr media
My understanding of trinary is a lot like what's shown in this diagram, so I consider masculinity, femininity, androgyny, and neutrality trinary. The midtrinary flag is based off that, but more blended, for the mid- part, kind of like my midbinary flag.
I chose green, blue, purple, and magenta as that's just what I see typically associated with neutrality, masculinity, androgyny, and femininity.
The other flags are all derived from this main midtrinary flag.
Midtrine is in a vertical 5 stripe pattern, like these gender quality flags (there's a lot of links in that post pointing to similar flags). I think it also helps separate it from the regular flag, so it won't just look like a 5 striped midtrinary flag.
Mtriaspec is a light center, gradienting to darker stripes on the edges. Like the original iaspec flags.
Mtringender has a wide middle stripe, and gradients to lighter colours on the outside. Again, like other ingender flags (mingender, fingender, lingender flags) (though I guess the center being the darkest may just be my own interpretation).

Note
midtrinary alt term like miderian is alt for midbinary and aphorian is for abinary pls
how about midrien? [pt: midrien /end pt]
'mid' since miderian also retains 'mid', 'drie' is dutch for 'three' (thus distinguishing the term from miderian in etymology without directly saying something like 'tri' or 'trinary'), + 'en'.

Midtrinary or midternary: non-trinary identities that are not strictly atrinary/exotrinary (aternary/exoternary); an umbrella term for midbinary, midtertiary genders, and other labels referencing gender trinary/aptoternary/aptotrinary.
Examples: demitrinary (but not necessarily demiatrinary as the other part can be anontrinary/anonternary)/viatrinary/ideotrinary [demiternary/viaternary/ideoternary], multigender experiences involving at least one trinary gender (multrinary/multitrinary), trinaryflux, etc.
This term was not defined yet, but used in an illustrative infographic from gender juxtaposition diagrams.
It should be noted that trinaries could depend on one's cultural arities, as the tertiary trinary gender could be a culturally specific identity ("third gender") or could just be neutral (neutrois/agender). Sometimes trinary/nontrinary doesn't apply to the individual either, for example when one's gender is from a quinary or senary system.

I didn't expect myself as a (partially) cis person and mainly orientation collector to end up with contradictory gender identity but here we are
I'm a binary person. I'm also nonbinary. I'm also midbinary and abinary. I'm trinary as well as midtrinary.
Being bigender is so complicated. Under the cut I'm gonna explain how these contradicting terms coexist for me
Okay so we're sorting things into 3 categories
Applies to my girl gender
Applies to my aporagender gender
Applies to me as a whole
Some terms fit more than one category
Terms that apply to my girl gender:
Binary, trinary
Terms that apply to my aporine gender:
Nonbinary, abinary, trinary, midtrinary (my aporinity feels partially neutral just because it's relation to masculinity and femininity is neutral, even though it has it's own qualities, so whether it's trinary or not is a bit of a gray area but I'll say it's midtrinary and trinary since initially it felt like a "third" gender)
Terms that apply to me as a whole:
Nonbinary, midbinary, trinary, midtrinary
Gender is fucked up and funky and complicated and it's so fun

What colors do you associate with midtrinary?
I haven't heard of midtrinary before this, so I don't really have any associations. Maybe if you give me some examples of midtrinary genders, or explain a bit more (I only found this definition here), I could try to think of some colours? Maybe even make a flag (maybe, since I wouldn't know how to make one at this point).

abin- | mbin- | bnin- atrin- | mtrin- | trin- ain- | ouin- | kein-
abin- / abinsexual / abinromantic / etc. : attraction to people who consider themselves abine / abinarine (abinary gender quality).
mbin- / midbin- / mbinsexual / midbinsexual / mbinromantic / midbinromantic / etc. : attraction to people who consider themselves midbine / midbinarine (midbinary gender quality).
bnin- / bninsexual / bninromantic / etc. : attraction to people who consider themselves bine / binarine (binary gender quality).
atrin- / atrinsexual / atrinromantic / etc. : attraction to people who consider themselves atrine / atrinarine (atrinary gender quality).
mtrin- / midtrin- / mtrinsexual / midtrinsexual / mtrinromantic / midtrinromantic / etc. : attraction to people who consider themselves midtrine / midtrinarine (midtrinary gender quality).
trin- / trinsexual / trinromantic / etc. : attraction to people who consider themselves trine / trinarine (trinary gender quality).
ain- / ainsexual / ainromantic / etc. : attraction to people who consider themselves aporine (aporagender gender quality).
ouin- / ouinsexual / ouinromantic / etc. : attraction to people who consider themselves outherine.
kein- / keinsexual / keinromantic / etc. : attraction to people who consider themselves kenous (kenochoric gender quality).
-★-
The terms are prefixes basically, so they can be attached to any attraction ending (such as -rose/-romanticsexual, -tertiary, -platonic, -alterous, -sensual, -aesthetic, -physical, -emotional, and more). I only listed the -sexual and -romantic variations to keep it readable.
Tumblr media
(Copy and pasted from the first post)
For the definition of these terms, I reworded them a bit from common wiki definitions, but it follows the general idea I've seen in other posts discussing these terms.
Basically, when it comes to gender qualities, what counts as what can vary greatly between people. What one person considers masculine, feminine, androgynous, etc. can be really different from what another person considers it to be. Especially when you factor in things like different cultures, people with complex identities, or really queer people in general (as they can challenge such definitions).
Who's to determine what counts as what? Or say one definition matters more than another? I think it should be determined by the person in question. I can imagine a few issues otherwise. Wouldn't it be weird to put other people in boxes they don't identify with?
Also, these orientations aren't just being attracted to men, women, enben, etc., they're attractions to gender qualities (in either presentation or gender identity). So, for some examples, someone could consider themselves masculine while not being a man, and so be included under min-. It's the same for the others, someone could consider themselves maverine without being maverique. Or present femininely while being nonbinary. The combinations/examples are practically endless.
So the point of these labels is to be broad, and include those who want to be included, and exclude those who wouldn't want to consider themselves under that label.
Tumblr media
-in orientation flags :D [part 2 of 2] first post
Tumblr media
For the flags, I based them off of the 7 stripe -in orientation format, where it gradients to darker stripes on the outside, with a dark stripe in the center (minsexual, finsexual, ninsexual examples). I chose them because I thought the format looked really nice, and also because I don't know how to make symbols for these flags (again, if anyone wants to make symbol versions, feel free to do so). Unlike the original format though, the stripes on both sides don't mirror each other. I did this just because I wanted (more) colourful versions.
As for the colours, they're inspired (not exactly colour picked) by the corresponding gender quality flags. So abinarine for abin-, midbine for mbin-, binarine for bnin-, atrine for atrin-, midtrine for mtrin-, trine for trin-, aporine for ain-, outherine for ouin-, and kenous for kein-.

trinary ✦ trine triaspec ✦ tringender
trinary : the gender trinary. What's included under this depends, but it's usually 2 binary genders (male and female) and another gender, like neutrois/agender/androgyne. There are other sources that define it better I think.
trine (trinity) / trinarine (trinarinity / trinarity) : trinary gender quality.
triaspec : an umbrella term for anyone on the trinary spectrum. It includes all trinary genders, partial trinary genders, trinary aligned and adjacent genders, and genders which are in some way similar to / resemblant of trinity / trinarity.
tringender : an umbrella term for all genders trine / trinarine in nature.

Some trinary stuff :3
[pt: trinary]
So I know of binarine, and related terms, and I wanted to make matching trinarine terms.
Trinary, of course, was not coined by me. There's already a flag for it here. I just wanted a alt flag. The rest I came up myself.
Tumblr media
Like I mentioned in my midtrinary post, my understanding of trinary is like this diagram. So that's where the magenta-pink (feminine), purple (androgynous), green (neutral), and blue (masculine) come from. I also added grey, inspired by the binarine flag. I think the (dark) grey is a good way to differentiate between trinary and midtrinary (same with binary and midbinary). I also made the stripes sideways, to kind of resemble a triangle (like the gender trinary). It's most obvious in the corners, as those are actually triangles and not just stripes.
The rest of the flags are all based off of this colour scheme.
The trine flag follows a similar format to other gender quality flags, link. I rearranged the stripes to be a gradient to the middle, and with vertical stripes to help make it more distinct.
Triaspec is like the other iaspec flags, with a off white stripe in the center, and a gradient to darker colours on the outside. Because green is the lightest colour, I chose it for the center stripe, and since the green wouldn't be as prominent anymore, I also adjusted the outer blue and pink stripes to be closer to green on the colour wheel.
Tringender has a wide middle stripe and a gradient pattern, bit like the other ingender flags (mingender, fingender, lingender). The center stripe being the darkest follows the same format I use for my other ingender flags, that's just kind of how I memorised / think works for the ingender format.

can you help explain midtrinary to me? with some more specific examples. I'm having trouble understanding the difference between midtrinary and trinary.
maybe some help with binary and midbinary too? I guess maybe midbinary would overlap/be included under binary, but midbinary is specifically for nonbinary genders related to male/female, so it wouldn't include just binary male and female.
i'll start with midbinary, since it's a bit simpler, so let's define it first:
midbinary: an umbrella term for nonbinary genders that are in some way associated with one or both of the binary genders
this post has a useful phrase in it: 'existing within the context of the gender binary but not strictly one or the other'. this makes it seem to me that the 'binary genders' in that definition i listed would probably be better described by another term:
aptobinary: a gender that is exclusively and entirely female and fingender or male and mingender at all times
compare this to the common definition of nonbinary, which refers to any gender that is not exclusively and entirely one binary gender at all times.
midbinary, then, refers to non-aptobinary binary gender experiences. these experiences are binary, but they're also nonbinary (and may, depending on the person, be felt as neither binary nor nonbinary) making midbinary the sort of center of a binary-nonbinary venn diagram.
now let's define midtrinary:
midtrinary: an umbrella term for nontrinary genders that are in some way associated with one or more of the trinary genders
we also have to add in the third gender of the trinary — this can vary if you're in a culture with a recognized third gender, but for this, we'll go with the third gender being entirely neutral. and like before, the 'trinary genders' in the above definition is probably better described by:
aptotrinary: a gender that is exclusively and entirely female and fingender, male and mingender, or neutral and ningender at all times
so midtrinary would describe non-aptotrinary trinary gender experiences, which are trinary, but also nontrinary (and, again, may be felt as neither trinary nor nontrinary to the person), thus ending up in the center of a trinary-nontrinary venn diagram.
