i made an alt clowngender flag :o3
[image id: an image of an alternate clowngender flag. it has 7, even-width, vertical stripes, from top to bottom going: dark red, cherry-pinkish red, orange, yellow, mint green, cyan, and dark blue. /end id.]
original term coined by @uncommongenders!
original definition: Clowngender is a fun, silly, clumsy, and colorful gender related to clowns.
clowngender, to me, is a gender with any sort of relation to clowns!!!!! no matter how heavy or light said relation is, anyone who feels that the label fits is welcome to use it :>
[note: if you decide to use this flag in a post, you may need to tag with eyestrain! no credit is needed, just don't claim to have made the flag yourself!]
flag color meanings under the cut!
dark red: the more anarchic/messier side of clowning! this could be an interest in causing problems on purpose, a connection to the more violent-perception of scary clowns (for me it's icp type clownery<3), or anything you can come up with, it's up to you on what you think of this part, and if you don't have a connection to it, that's fine too:3
cherry red: playfulness! have fun with it all!
orange: self expression! the connection of your clown-ness to who you are! this can include just how you feel, or visible self expression like makeup and outfits!
yellow: silliness! we clown. we silly. we goofy
mint green: serenity! the feeling that you could be sitting in a colorful void doing nothing but still feeling silly nonetheless. no thoughts, head empty, only clown. honk honk...,
cyan: welcoming! anyone with good-faith identities should feel welcome to the clown community. the point of clowning is to get silly with it!!!!!!!!!!
dark blue: mental wellness! even the clowns are Down sometimes and thats OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! take the time you need to get resituated, take care of yourself, find something to help you feel comfy, and remember that it might not be okay right now, but everything will end up alright. love you clowns, take care of urselves<33333

smashes my current interest together with my old interest
(aka yet another "what Dungeon Meshi but Gamers?" AU)
Once when I was a child I had a complete crying meltdown over Creatures, because the manual insisted that the complicated AI of the Norns made them truly alive and 10-year-old me was freaked out at the idea of being solely responsible for making sure these real animals wouldn't die. The funny part was that this was the Playstation version of Creatures, which has no biochemistry and very basic AI compared to the PC/Mac games where players actually were debating whether or not it was true artificial life. A PSX manual gave me existential dread and it wasn't even telling the truth.
Anyway, kid!Marcille would also have a meltdown over the Creatures series, especially if she had the computer games and got to see how vastly different some breeds' lifespans are. Like in C2 where you have Norns that live for around 5 hours and Norns that live for 10, both of which are vastly more than Ettins who don't even live for 1.5 hours (and usually less due to radiation or starvation).
Lucky for her, having the computer version means she could download modified genomes made by other players that make creatures live longer or even outright remove certain death triggers. However I think she'd have more fun learning to read and edit the genomes herself, to get a better understanding of how the game works and how to change it to suit her own tastes. And because she could pretend she's one of the mysterious ancient Shee who created the Norns, Grendels, and Ettins and then vanished, leaving behind relics of their old society.
(Speaking of Grendels, she would unfortunately dislike them because they're the Designated Evil Species and she'd hate how they harass and attack her Norns. I think she'd also pity them though, because they get sick a lot and have short lifespans. Likely she'd just end up downloading/creating a genome without the aggression towards Norns. Ettins she'd like except for in C3 when they dismantle her meticulously-placed gadget setups, so she might mod out their hoarding compulsions too. Both of them would of course also live for however long her Norns would live.)
Also. While standard creatures' lifespans are counted in hours, if you modify the half-lives in the genome editor you can increase it to centuries. Or even just over a millennium if you set the half-lives to their max length (assuming you also leave the old age death trigger at its vanilla value).
and I like to think that elven Creatures players would pass around copies of what they consider a template genome that's appropriate to their own lifespans. Something that would make their creatures live for weeks or months of continuous play. I also like to think the Creatures DS Warp is still active in this AU because of the hilarious frustration when these long-lived Norns travel to worlds run by short-lived players whose Norns have vanilla lifespans, and vice versa.
(Most of the time in Creatures, offspring of parents with different lifespans will just have one or the other, but there's a chance the genes cross over right in the middle of the various age triggers and cause unstable aging rates. Like a Norn that goes through the childhood stages in hours but then has a very extended adulthood. Or a days-long childhood followed by suddenly dropping dead of old age once the vanilla adulthood genes kick in. Or, if the child has one parent's half-life decay rate and the other parent's age triggers, all sorts of odd things could happen. I once had hybrid Norns who lived for 20 hours and would die of organ failure before reaching the old age threshold!)
(Now that I think of it, Marcille would absolutely hate fast-agers. The first time she watches a creature hatch, turn old, and die in just one brief minute of life, she would be sobbing for days. One of the first things she'd learn to mod out would be mutations that cause the Ageing/Life chemical to decrease unusually fast.)
On a lighter note, while I don't know what her favorite designs would be I think she'd love choosing cute breeds to use in her world. Once she figured out how to give her creatures the comfortable life she wants them to have I can see her redirecting all her gene-editing efforts into changing color expressions. She might even learn to sprite or model her own custom designs.

Man, I really regretted looking up Undertale Characters and Undertale Sans analyses on this here site:
Like, there is a reason I avoid doing that more often than not on tumblr (and some other sites), because a lot of the time I just across takes/analyses/etc. that I just really (personally) don’t agree with and/or like.
Even by creators that I can, have, do, and/or did like, and seemingly “well-liked”/”well-accepted” and/or “popular” takes.
Disclaimer: If you like or agree with any these takes or similar ones; that is fine, we all have different opinions. I just tend to not really like these takes.
The takes in question. These are just UT/DR takes and ones I have mainly come across today and fairly recently (some of these takes are actually done by fans of these characters; that doesn’t mean I like or agree with them still though (putting the rest under a “read more” cut, because this gets pretty long, and in case people don’t want to read about these takes):
“Toriel is homophobic” (just uggghh, no. Just no).
“Sans is useless and/or serves no purpose (in the game, battle, narratively, thematically, and/or etc.)” (basically) (this, just isn’t true at all, and I really, really (like, just a lot), hate this take/these takes).
“Sans is weak” (also hate this take).
“Sans is just some guy and/or a nobody now”, because he now can’t be a badass and cool and powerful and smart (which, he is), while also being dorky and edgy and vague and a generally nuanced and a flawed person with layers. I guess. Not allowed. Talk about fandom over-correction (imo).
“Toriel is just a Mom and basically has no other character traits or flaws.” pretty much (Just no and is a huge oversimplification of her character).
“Chara is abusive/Chara abused Asriel” (Chara, who is also, just a iteral child. And someone who was probably traumatized and hurt in the past. Chara wasn’t perfect, but to say this, I just can’t agree with it really).
“Papruys is now the strongest character in Undertale” (he is strong and powerful in his own right, but this is just unfair to the other characters, and is kind of over-stretching stuff imo. Like some Sans take(s); I also mostly blame this on fandom over-correction).
“To make Paps interesting we now have to make him edgy” basically (less a statement, and more a trend I see sometimes). There are many ways you can make a character interesting for instance. And 2nd of all; why try to make a non-character edgy, when we got more actual edgy characters like Sans, Chara, Flowey/Asriel, Gaster I guess, Muffet, I guess, heck, maybe even Toriel, and/or etc.? Not saying Paps isn’t interesting btw; he is. Just saying some people seem to only think they can make him interesting by making him edgy. Not even against edgy Paps completely; I’m not. Just trying to say there are other ways to do things/you could do things.
“That somehow Flowey/Asriel (and in the case of some fan stories; Gaster too), is a better person than Sans is” (don’t get me wrong, Sans is a morally questionable/morally grey character (and I love that about him). But the amount the shit he gets sometimes, while arguably, characters who are just as bad, worse, and/or (more) ill-intentioned than Sans get more of a pass is just like, “what?”
“Flowey did nothing wrong” basically (this comment kind of goes hand-in-hand with what I say in the previous paragraph. I do get he is technically a child still, and he is a good character. But like, he still did many, many things wrong).
Not really a character, just a take I didn’t agree with at all, “Undertale’s meta aspects and time travel isn’t needed and basically make the game worse, and game would have been just as good, if not better without them”, (and I am like just "????”, about those things. Those things are so important to Undertale man, and they don’t make the game worse, they make it better. Like, what do you even mean?)
Etc., etc.
So yeah, really didn’t like these takes at all. And I mean, AT ALL.
Welp, at least the somewhat sour taste these left in my mouth hopefully helps me more careful while searching for and/or looking up analyses, metas, etc. on tumblr and/or etc.
I have hopefully, learned my lessons now.

This is obviously not the most important part of the series overall but FOR ME the most important and impactful thing about AT is Bonnie’s struggle with her own agency, which is so deeply tied to sexual trauma and other consent- and body-related traumas. Feel like the fact that she appears (and is, to an extent) emotionally shallow and snobby and stubborn/in denial makes her less a target of sympathy, which is.. just very true to real life. Sad, lonely man rapes women in altered state of mind— tragic hero. His favorite victim (both before and during the time she knows him) scrambles to protect herself, sometimes hurting others in the process, sometimes by making herself numb to a threat rather than ousting it directly— evil bitch.
I have a lot of sympathy for Simon. Honestly he’s so much like me it’s a little scary. It’s just so incredibly disheartening to see the imbalance of criticism there. I’m late to the fandom so maybe I missed a lot, but I’ve seen so much criticism of Bonnie. Criticism of Simon, from what I’ve seen, is almost always “it was the crown” to some degree. An altered state of mind. Not a different person. If you don’t think he raped, I don’t know what to tell you. CN wasn’t about to give all the details, but it’s about as implied as it possibly could be. If you think he couldn’t have raped her because of who she was or what she’s capable of, then honestly block me right now please. That is not a thing and it never has been and it never will be, with anyone.
I obviously don’t know how F&C will look, but based on the trailer and cast/crew quotes I’m guessing we’re going to see a lot of Simon’s guilt and grief and despair, and honestly, I don’t care. I don’t care. Honestly when I watch it I might care a little bit, but if I do, I’ll wish I don’t, because all I can do with that caring is feel bad for him, which means feeling bad about wanting him to feel bad. And if you do care, I’m not judging you. I get it, really! Maybe I’m taking this all too seriously, but isn’t that why we’re all here? It’s important to us. It is serious.
I just want the record to show that I am so fucking tired. And I might not be the only one, so I’m posting it. Yeah!!
