It's 3am, We're Both Wasted And For Whatever Reason, You Think Now Is The Perfect Moment To Say I Love You For The First Time?

i'm going back to my roots: randomly posting whatever unashamedly. so have a drunk mike x reader drabble. not edited, we die like men. the title is too long too but. who cares.

also, disclaimer, no i have not watched hellraiser and i very much definitely won't. i hate horror movies. so if the characterisation seems off to you, that's because all my knowledge about him comes from a) one too many edits i've consumed and b) my imagination. deal with that or fuck off lol

It's late as you stumble through your doorway. It's too late, in fact, to even be stumbling through your doorway. You're making noise - too much noise, you know that - for sneaking around at 3am. But you're also a bit too drunk to notice.

Too drunk on alcohol.... and too drunk on the feeling of Mike's strong arms wrapped around you.

"You smell good", he mutters into your hair and pulls you even closer into him. You can't hold back a laugh.

"Shhh", you caution, fumbling your key from the lock and pushing the door close again. You wince at the horribly loud sound it makes. Mike buries his nose even deeper into your hair and inhales again.

"Shit, you smell so good, Sweetcheeks."

He's so loud, so loud in comparison to the silence all around you. And he's so warm. And so big...

"Be quiet", you warn, even as your hands begin to run along his. You just can't help yourself, not when he's so close, when he's holding you so tightly to him, like he couldn't bear if you left him.

"But I want to be loud with you", Mike mutters, his nose brushing your hair from your neck, tickling your skin. God, he's so drunk. And so tall.

"But you'll wake up my parents", you whine. "And we still have to get upstairs."

Mike groans into your neck.

"Can't we just crash on the couch?", he asks and then his lips touch your skin and you quite literally melt into his arms. Your keys clang to the floor.

"Fuck", you curse, but Mike's arms only tighten around you and he presses another kiss onto your neck. You forget about the keys almost instantly as a shiver runs down your spine. You need to squeeze your eyes shut for your brain to process thoughts at all.

"No", you say then, "We cannot crash on the couch. My parents will wake us up at six."

Mike groans again, then pulls back from you. Your hands slip from his and you stumble for a second before catching yourself and turning around to him.

"So upstairs", Mike says and in the dark of the room, you need a moment until your hand brushes against his again.

"Upstairs", you agree quietly.

Mike pulls you close to him again and steers you towards the stairs - entirely unhelpfully, because he's swaying about as much as you are and doesn't know the layout of your home nearly as well as you do. His fingers are clasped around yours and his arm is around your waist and you have to slow him down at least twice before you even take the first step up the stairs, just so you don't crash into something.

The climb is slow, too. Partly because Mike has decided that it's absolutely unacceptable that he can't look at your ass while you walk up the stairs right in front of him, and so has hooked his thumbs into two belt loops and put his palms flat against your ass instead.

You can barely hide a giggle.

"Mikey", you breathe when you get to the top step and can finally turn around to him, his hands falling back to his sides. "Honey."

He's got you in his arms again in the blink of an eye. His arms around your waist, pulling you close, his lips ghosting over yours, his breath warm.

You have to smile.

"Mikey", you repeat. But his lips are just hovering there. Waiting.

He's hardly ever waited this long to kiss you. You think he might've just fallen asleep momentarily. It would be very much him. You wouldn't be all that surprised.

"I love you", he says then. Soberly.

You freeze.

You must've misheard. You must have misheard.

You hadn't said the L-word. Not once. Not until now.

So you'd definitely misheard.

But Mike kisses you softly, for just a moment, his lips barely grazing yours, and he says it again:

"I love you."

Your hands cramp into the front of his shirt. It's too dark to see his expression - to see much of anything, really.

"Mike-", you whisper, because that's about the only thing you can manage to get out at the moment. Then you break off.

What are you doing?

Fucking god, what the hell are you thinking?

He's just told you he loves you. Twice. And all you're doing is standing there, staring into black nothingness and saying his name? No. No, this won't do. So you press yourself against him and your lips onto his, so suddenly that he almost stumbles back a step. He feels so familiar. So warm and so tall and so familiar. You can't believe he's actually real.

"I love you", you mutter, your lips inches from his. "I love you so much, Mike."

A fic I didn't expect to write, but I ended up being excited to finish it, was actually inspired by this ask from you, haha. It was for the Director's Cut of Make That Kitty Purr, which was Mike (Hellraiser) x Reader x August Walker. I did not expect to release the previous version of MTKP because I thought it was too dark but then people liked it. And I was quite surprised because I mean, it wasn't my usual style. But now, I know that people like my darker stuff too.

My favorite fic I wrote this year? Now, this is a hard one, because all of my fics were written this year lol. But if I had to choose a favorite, it would be Get My Pretty Name Outta Your Mouth. It was a request for Walter Marshall x Reader x enemies to lovers. And OMG this story was so quick and I swear, this is when I realized that Walter was my favorite. He's just so delicious to write for.

OMG, as if this list wasn't exhausting enough lol. I actually have more to add to this list. I never really delved into my other ideas I had and I want to hold them close to the chest at the moment. But, I also had hoped to finish The Howling in Claw Creek Forest by now, but no because I added more story. Someone send halp.

2024 is gonna be another year of writing. Another year of scratched out notebooks. Another year of yours truly starting a series that they have to go back to later lol.

As soon as you're out of the meeting, you're looking for some aspirin. The monthly managers meeting was always a real pain in the ass. It's become a little less hostile since Lloyd must have found himself a new toy to play with, but he's still Lloyd. To his credit, he can be pretty damn creative at insulting people without getting in trouble with HR. But it's still over an hour with a bunch of people arguing over resources and timelines and other boring things. All you can do is take your notes, go to bat for your team, and chug your coffee.

On your way to your office, where you know you have some Excedrin, you detour through the break room and get yourself something sweet from the vending machines. You know you should watch your blood sugar or whatever, but meeting days are always rough and you deserve that boston cream snack pie with a side of coffee.

Finally at your desk you let yourself take some deep breaths before reaching for the Excedrin. A couple of pills, some coffee and follow it up with a bite of the calorie bomb, sugar dense, definitely-bad-for-you creamy treat. You let out a soft moan and relax into your chair.

Until a second later when there's a loud knock on your door followed by Mike walking in, "hey Boss Lady, you got a minute?"

You rush to swallow the bite in your mouth and chug some more coffee to help it down but wind up choking a bit in the process.

"Oh, shit! I'm so sorry!" Mike exclaims running behind your desk to start smacking your back, likely thinking there's something stuck in your throat. You try to wave him away and while he does stop hitting you, he stays nearby, his eyes wide with worry. He's shaking so much you'd laugh if you could catch your breath.

When you finally regain your composure, you let out a breath and gesture for Mike to sit. He does so hesitantly.

"You're sure you're okay?"

"I am," you nod with a smile. "You'd think, at my age, I'd be past making a fool of myself but, let's face it, there's no age limit on that." He smiles back at you. "Now, what is it you wanted to talk about?"

"Oh, right!" His eyes go wide and he grabs his notebook. You've noticed he's always carrying one ever since your talk about taking notes. "So, I've got some preliminary things figured out, some user design basics, but I was wondering if I could spend some time with Steve and Bucky in the IT department? They work on accessibility stuff and I'd like to incorporate some of those."

"What kind of features are you thinking?"

"Well, no one in the department's mentioned it, but I'd like to include some features for like, colorblindness. I'm hoping to learn a bit about adding things like that. Just in case someone is colorblind but maybe doesn't know it, or it's mild but still annoying?"

"Alright, I'll talk to Jonathan about getting you some time with them," you say as you write yourself a note. "I make no promises, of course."

"Of course," he smiles. You swear if you were just 10 years younger you'd be swooning over his boyish charm.

"Anything else?"

Mike looks over his notes, "um...I know there was something. No. Wrong page. Ah! There it is!" You fight the urge to chuckle as he rereads his notes. "Right, so there are some tables that seem to have different names depending on who you're talking to. And none of them seem to be the tables' actual names! What should I do?"

"How about you bring that up at the next meeting? Do a little demonstration showing everyone that these different names apply to the same table and we can see about a vote or a naming compromise for the interface."

Mike writes down everything you say and you give a genuine smile. Not a lot of interns would take advice so easily. That first meeting really must have melted his brain.

As you're making a note to yourself to add Mike to the next meeting agenda you notice he's looking uncomfortable.

"Are you okay, Mike?"

"I just...um...How do I put this?" he mumbles as he runs his hand through his hair. "My parents are going to be in town next week for, um, Parents' Weekend at the college. They, um, they'd like to meet you." Your eyebrows raise at that and he's quick to put up both of his hands, " you don't have to, of course! I'll absolutely understand if you'd rather not! They just...they want to see where I'm working."

"If you can give me more details on a day and time I'll see what I can do," you promise. "It's not every day we get an Intern's parents visiting, but I'm sure Jonathan would be happy to help make it happen."

"You really don't have to." Mike almost sounds disappointed.

"Would you like me to say it can't happen?" He hesitates at that. "Do you need me to be the bad guy for you?" His face drops but you swear you see his cheeks turn a little pink when you say that. "Look, family can be very complicated. You will receive no judgment from me if you'd rather your parents didn't know about your work place, okay?"

"Thank you," he murmurs.

"And I promise, no follow up questions on the family."

He relaxes at that. "Thank you so much, Boss!"

You give a soft chuckle instead of asking him not to call you that. It's clearly something he'll never listen to you about. And, to be honest, you don't mind it so much.

"So, if your family asks, you can tell them we simply don't do tours for family members. They can visit the building, but they're not allowed past the lobby."

His smile grows and he gets animated again. "Thank you, so very much!" His smile drops as he remembers something. "Oh! Also, I'm gonna need next week off from work for their visit."

You make a note, "shouldn't be a problem. I'll push your agenda item to the meeting in two weeks instead of next week's."

"Thanks, Boss! You're the best!"

He practically jumps out of his chair and runs out of your office leaving you smiling, shaking your head and wondering if you ever had that level of energy.

yet ANOTHER theory about mike

details that i haven't noticed many people comment on and i feel the need to bring it up

in order to understand more about who this "mike" character is, we first have to look at spamton and his origin. the story goes that he was desperate for fame, phoned a gameshow host by the name of mike, his sales went up, and abruptly mike... seemingly vanished?

and spamton is pretty righteously upset about it. several lines spoken in his spamton neo form tell us that he feels robbed of fame and fortune, and he seems to blame mike for his sales dropping again.

but one of spamton's distinguishing characteristics is that he talks almost exclusively in television speak and advertisements.

so, that line's confusing. why would tenna cover for mike? all of spamton's other dialogue both in chapter 2 and the sweepstakes convey the two have some sort of rivalry. in fact, it's even implied tenna did something bad to mike.

so why would tenna propogate mike as a good person?

that's just the thing! he's not. look closely at the dialogue.

spamton was trying to say "don't believe tenna" but his strange television censorship replaced 'tenna' with [anything you see on tv]. thereby meaning that mike is NOT a criminal. TENNA is.

as for where mike actually went after he disappeared, there was also this interruption. someone in an unknown location used spamton as a vessel communicate with the player. or anyone listening, really.

then later on, in the spamton sweepstakes, we see the same static again. click around somewhere in the noise, and you can uncover this dialogue.

this is just a hunch, but this particular dialogue reads more like mike than the last one did. this character has a booming, dramatic voice, which makes sense considering mike's after all a gameshow host.

therefore, the voice asking for help earlier COULD just someone else trapped in the same place. the static seems to be a sort of prison detached from everything else.

my last point of interest in this theory is mike's potential residue, found in the structure of the green room:

the m shaped doors. everything else in this room screams 'tenna, tenna, tenna' but this detail shows he might not have erased mike's residue completely.

there's a chance that the m stands for something else that we haven't heard of, but i have my doubts. given the focus on this mysterious character and tenna, whom we haven't met yet, i think we have strong reason to believe mike was here in the past.

now that all these details have been elaborated on, i've come up with a speculative answer as to what's going on. it's not to be taken seriously, but it could end up meaning something:

mike was once a popular gameshow host whose views and ratings were skyrocketing. he may have even been the biggest tv star in the dark world. but either mike got even greedier, or the cathode's crew became jealous of his attention, and his show was taken off the air. when broadcasts are canceled, the inhabitants enter into some static hellworld where they'll most likely remain until the plot of chapter 3.

that could be one of the main plotpoints of the chapter. tenna, who almost seems to be treated like a mobster, dismantles his competition for attention, and it's the fun gang's job to retrieve them from their imprisonment.

but! that's just speculation. we won't know anything for sure until the game comes out sometime later this year

One Year Later 

“Happy Birthday to you!” Everyone is gathered around Honey while she sits in her highchair with a tiny cake all to herself, made by Auntie Erika. She waits until everyone is done singing before she blows out her two candles. She claps along with everyone else when they cheer for her. Digging into the cake with her hands, Mike and Dimples have their cameras out taking photos of their daughter. 

After everyone has their cake and Honey opens all her gifts, the party starts to die down a little. Cherie takes Honey inside to play with her toys and the grownups sit outside in the backyard. While Dimples and the ladies are busy getting all the trash together, Mike sits with his grandpa Gus, his father, and his uncle. 

“So, when are you two gonna tell us about the baby?” Gus starts, nursing a beer like he hadn’t just put Mike on the spot. 

“Tell you about what baby?” Mike asks, unconvincingly. 

“Walter, look at that girl. Tell me that isn’t the tell-tale sign of a bump.” Gus nudges Mike’s elbow while Mike looks to his dad for help. 

“Gus, leave the boy alone. If they’re not ready to announce it, they’re not ready. Simple as that.” Walter shrugs and pats Mike’s knee. 

“It’s gonna be a boy.” Sy offers, and Mike’s eyes widen. 

The other three men look at Sy in disbelief, wondering how he could possibly know the sex of a baby that wasn’t even confirmed yet. 

“Well, her skin is still clear. And it looks like she’s carrying low. When she was pregnant with Honey, she carried high and had acne. Just like Nettie did with Cherie. I mean, it could be an old wives’ tale. But it still came true twice, so...” Sy trails off and laughs with the older men while Mike nods and laughs to himself. 

When he looks up, Dimples is walking over and pulling him away from everyone. 

“They know. Nettie and Hope know I’m pregnant and I didn’t have to tell them at all.” Dimples almost shrieks when she tells Mike that their happy announcement is kind of ruined. 

“Yeah, Grandpa Gus and Dad and Uncle Sy pointed it out as well. Oh, and Sy says we’ll have a boy which is exciting.” Mike tries to lighten the mood and Dimples chuckles despite herself. 

Honey comes running out of the house behind them holding her favorite pink triceratops. She runs into Mike’s legs and raises her arms up. “Daddy up pwease?” Cherie comes out of the house shortly after, going to sit between Sy and Nettie. 

“Come here, Honey,” Mike picks her up and gives her a bunch of kisses on her face and Honey bursts into a fit of giggles. Mike holds Honey and grabs Dimples’ hand and walks over to where the other adults are sitting. 

“Daddy? When baby coming?” Mike and Dimples look at each other and realize there is no point in hiding it anymore. 

“Seems like everybody already knows, but just to make it official, Dimples just made it through her first trimester a couple of days ago with our second baby.” Mike kisses Dimples’ temple and pulls her close. 

“I’m very emotional right now. So, please don’t take my crying for being upset. I’m actually really happy, I promise.” Dimples wipes at her eyes and the group of adults laugh and stand up giving hugs all around. 

Grandpa Gus watches as his family grows larger by the minute. 

Six Months Later 

Henry “Bubba” Marshall is born at 9 lbs 10 oz and 21 inches long. Mike is so proud of himself that he didn’t faint at all during this pregnancy. He cut the umbilical cord and is surprised at how big this baby is. When the doctor laid him on Dimples’ chest, it is a miracle she could hold him. 

Mike and Dimples name Evan and Hope as godparents for Bubba. Grandpa Gus makes his way past the rest of the family so he can see his great-grandson. When he finally sits down and is handed Bubba, he chokes up. A few silent tears fall, and he laughs a bit to himself. 

“Grandpa Gus, you okay?” Mike asks from his perch on the side of Dimples’ hospital bed. 

“I just can’t believe how handsome he is. Just like his father, his father before him, and me of course. I guess he had no choice but to be a looker,” Gus chuckles and looks down as Bubba yawns and shifts in his arms, “Also, this boy is big as hell. He is gonna eat you out of house and home. Good luck with that.” 

“Gus, don’t scare them,” Walter walks over and pats Mike’s shoulder before leaning in to whisper, “But you know he’s not gonna fit any of that newborn clothing you got for him, right?” 

Mike and Dimples look at each other and can’t help but laugh at their little predicament. 

Another Six Months Later 

At Honey’s 3rd birthday party, Bubba crawls around the party. And boy, is he fast! He keeps not only Mike and Dimples on their toes. But he also keeps his big sister busy trying to keep her toys out of his mouth. 

“Bubba, no! Don’t eat Pinky!” Honey takes her pink triceratops out of her brother’s hands and replaces it with one of his Little Peoples toys. 

When Mike and Dimples catch up to where the two kids have gotten to, they are out of breath. Honey can only laugh which makes Bubba laugh. And the chain reaction sends their parents into a giggling fit as well. 

“Daddy? Can we open presents now?” Honey asks, trying to wrangle her brother into staying in one place. 

“I think that is a perfect idea, Honey.” Mike picks up Honey while Dimples picks up Bubba and they make their way over to the oversized present pile.  

Bubba tries his best to help open gifts but ends up playing with the wrapping paper and the boxes that Honey’s toys come in. Nothing makes Bubba happier than making his big sister laugh and Honey loves to play with her little brother. She treats him like her own personal baby doll, and he adores her for it. 

After the party dies down and the backyard is cleaned up, Mike decides to take a nap on the couch. Honey and Bubba were playing in the living room but when they see Daddy laying down, they decide to crawl on top of him. At first, they try to wake him up but when that doesn’t work, they just get comfy and go to sleep as well. 

Dimples comes into the living room when she notices it’s oddly quiet. The sight she happens upon makes her swoon. Mike is sprawled out on the couch; Honey is laying on her back across his chest while Bubba is wrapped around Mike’s thigh. Their soft snores are filling the room and it’s the cutest thing Dimples has ever seen. 

She takes out her phone to capture the moment and another idea pops into her head for what to do for Mike’s birthday gift. Putting her phone away, she pries Bubba from around Mike’s thigh and gently wakes Mike so he can put Honey to bed as well. Mike and Dimples go to bed, and they are both so tired that they just cuddle up to one another and are asleep within moments. 

A Few Months Later 

Getting Mike out of the house for most of the day is the trickiest part of Dimples’ plan. She gets Walter and Sy to take him to lunch and a movie. When he comes back home, the house is too quiet and too dark, so he goes into the backyard to look for his family. 

He is genuinely shocked when everyone jumps out and shouts “Happy Birthday!” Dimples runs up to him with the kids following her. He hugs and kisses all of them, so happy to see that they (mostly Dimples) planned a surprise party for him.  

Mike makes his way around the guests at the party and thanks them for coming. Looking around the backyard, he notices that photos are lining the fence around the yard. Moving closer to one photo, he smiles to himself and wonders how Dimples got this one. 

“I hope you don’t mind I took that one from your phone. It’s one of my favorites,” Dimples is at his side, looking at the photo that Mike took of the day Honey was born and they were still in the hospital room. It was the day they became a family, “If you like that one, you’re gonna love your gift.” 

Mike just looks at her and smiles, feeling so lucky to have her as his spouse. Dimples grabs his hand and brings him over to the present pile. She hands him a large box and wishes him a happy birthday once again.  

Taking the box, he sits down to open it. Inside the box is a beautiful leather-bound book. Mike opens it and is surprised to see photos of himself. The photos include moments of his childhood, of his and Dimples’ wedding, and over the years with the kids. With every page he turns, he is transported to different moments of his life. The last page that is decorated has a large photo from Honey’s 3rd birthday with Mike asleep on the couch with the kids asleep on him. 

“I really hope you like this scrapbook baby. I figure we can keep adding memories to it with photos or paintings from Honey and Bubba. So, do you like it?” Dimples asks, her sweet face showing her hopeful expression. 

“I love it, Dimples. I love you so much. This is such a great gift! I can’t believe you got all these memories together. Thank you, baby.” Mike hugs her and kisses her neck. 

“You are very welcome, Mikey. I love you too. Now, I suggest we do cake soon, the kids will have their sugar crash then you can see the other gift I got you for your birthday.” Dimples wraps her arms around his neck and waggles her eyebrows. 

“Would this gift happen to be on the sexy side of things?” Mike looks around before grabbing a handful of Dimples’ backside. 

“Oh, my goodness, Mike! You'll find out later. Now, enjoy your party and be patient and you’ll be rewarded handsomely.” Dimples pecks his lips and walks away to wrangle up everyone for cake. 

Mike watches her walk away to get the kids where they are hanging off Grandpa Gus. Looking around, he is surrounded by everyone he loves. He is so lucky to have a wonderful wife, adorable kids, and a loving extended family. He smiles to himself and realizes he won’t have much to wish for when he blows out his candles.  

And that’s not a bad problem to have.

unfortunately i could go on for about two hours about the hellraiser: hellworld movie. specifically about mike. these are supposed to just be stupid minor characters in the series to present the cenobites in a different perspective. and yet theres so much to unpack. like the fact mike is probably catholic, given hes the only one kneeling in front of the crucifix in the funeral scene. like the fact mike isn't like, just sex addicted for fun. hes probably got sexual trauma somewhere and it just turned into addiction and hypersexuality. he has several addictions, notably alcohol, video games, and sex. hes just trying to cope with something and its probably ptsd and depression. maybe even borderline personality disorder, given how clearly he has mood swings, severe jealousy, a "get em back" mindset when hes upset and hes just hypersfocused on chelsea. hes in love with chelsea but at this point he has no idea how to pursue that without hurting both of them because of his addictions and the fact he just keeps fucking up around her. he hated adam and he hated jake and chelsea got with both of them so he hates them more. and he finds barely any typical enjoyment out of sexual activities because hes just trying to get a serotonin or dopamine boost. he can do that with anything, he just has preferences. out of the entire friend group we can see hes probably got the worst home life based on how he acts.

mike is just a traumatized kid whos in love with his best friend and his life is slowly getting worse.
