Can we get more Wopez please? Give Wesley storylines. Show them as a married couple. Do they ever go on date nights? I want to see them flirting and being cute and domestic and in love. Can we see them at home? Can't we have Angela x Nyla friendship AND Angela x Wesley relationship? Why does The Rookie seem to have tunnel vision and only be able to focus on a character's relationship with one person at a time?

Good evening everyone and happy Tuesday :)

This ep is a fav of mine. I know there isn’t a ton of Chenford content. But the amount of goodies we get for both Tim and Lucy is so good. Its what I love about them they’re amazing together and separate. Obviously prefer them together but this is a fantastic separated ep. Not a ton of gifs so it'll be partially gifs mostly caps. Also this is a longer one since they BOTH have good SL's in this one.

2x07 Safety.

The cold open is adorable. Tim would hate that phrasing but it’s true. I love sports so I get that excitement and happiness when your team does well. Look how happy he is. When the Rams won the Super Bowl a little while back I thought I bet Tim is thrilled LOL He is happy till a high speed pursuit interrupts his game. He sees the car chase is by his house. So in natural Tim fashion he heads outside to deal with it.

He is sexy af in this scene. That badge around his neck as he calls dispatch and logs in some OT. Then climbs into his truck backs up to block the guy and dispatches of the chase quickly. Gets the guy out of the car and on the ground very fast. Once he’s done drives back into his driveway so he can finish watching the game. Classic. Love this man. So cute jumping up and down cause they won. Damn he cute.

Roll call is upon them and Grey’s initiative today is community policing. Angela is out because she’s taking care of a recovering Wesley. (She ends up taking a side gig protecting a turd and his diamonds) Nolan gets a gig at the hospital leaving Harper open. Grey pairs Jackson with Tim and Lucy with Harper.

Lucy looks nervous af as she looks back at Nyla. I get why she has only seen bits and pieces of Harper. Those pieces they’ve been intense. Reminds me of when Nolan was paired with Tim. Just a little bit of terror in her eyes. It’s such a good ep for them both though. Their scenes are why it’s one of my fav eps.

Grey says Tim/Jackson get the football community gig with the Rams and Lucy/Harper get the community council. Harper makes a crack about it being the 1950’s. The boys get football practice and the girls get the PTA meeting. Grey says fair enough. Only one way to settle this. Challenge Coins. They both have coins from impressive things they’ve done. Tim says he got his from the Chief personally. He’s so cute and proud. Harper being Harper tops him. Says that’s nice. Hers is from the Governor. Tim rolls his eyes haha

Whoever slides theirs across the table closest to the edge wins. Lucy is adorable and in wifey mode already with her phone. Ready to capture the moment for him. I love how he looks over at her first before propelling his. Also his little butt wiggle I can not. Her matching his body posture is fantastic. An exact mirror really so she doesn’t miss a thing. They cute. I love them. Tim loses but Harper doesn’t want football anyways. I swear she did it just to make a point with Grey and mess with Tim.

Poor Lucy bombs right off the bat with Harper. Asking her if she needs anything. Harper looks at her and says 'Officer...?' Lucy happily says Chen. Nyla is her charming self and tells her she’s not going to use her name. That today she’s Not Nolan. Lucy asks John if he has any tips to get on her good side. Nolan makes a crack that he’s not sure she has one LOL You’ll get there. I dare say Lucy and Harper end up closer than her and John ever were, but that is much farther down the road.

First off let’s enjoy how ecstatic Tim looks to be at football practice. He is in one of his happy places right now. The man is radiating joy. It’s so cute. They’re watching practice and see a kid named AJ. How he is easily the best kid on the field. The director says that’s not what matters. His grades were trash before this program. Now he’s on the honor roll. They wave him over. Tim “grills” AJ on his work ethic, drills. and such its adorable. Clearly in his element talking to this kid. (Their scenes in this episode are primo)

AJ’s mom shows up and pulls him over. Director tells them she was just released from prison. Been hard transition for them both. She was in for armed robbery with a serious heist crew. Cute little scene with Tim and Eric Weddle. Eric giving Tim crap for giving up football for the service. Jackson is geeking out next to him its pretty cute. Tim tells him not to make it weird when he bro hugs Eric Weddle LMFAO

Love them having another shot at a pair up. It goes much better this time. They see AJ and his mom fight and walk over. Ask if everything is ok... I mean clearly it’s not. She doesn't answer them. Instead she drags AJ away from practice. They can tell something is wrong they’re just not sure what yet.

Back at the station Lucy and Harper are prepping for their meeting. Nyla tells her to keep this short and simple. Don’t promise anybody anything. Just to tell them ‘We’re aware of the problem and have a task force on it.’ Lucy questions that a bit but Harper says they’ll love that buzzword. She has Lucy lead the meeting. Poor Lucy she is not in the least prepared to do this. At first it works Nyla’s line. Lucy tells first guy verbatim what she’s supposed to. He takes her at her word and sits down. Harper looks proud from the other side of the room.

Then things quickly go sideways for her rapidly. A woman tells her that her neighbor keeps feeding the squirrels. Lucy tries the line again and fails. She questions Lucy and says 'A squirrel task force?' I can't blame her haha The lady tells her she’s worried about her dogs cause squirrels attract coyotes. Lucy’s empathy kicks in and gets her in trouble with Nyla. Tells's her to give her the address of her neighbor. Then she is bombarded with tasks.

Tim and Jackson meet Aj and his mom at their home. Just to make sure everything is copacetic. They can quickly see that it is not. Tim asks AJ if everything is ok. Seeing if he can get to him. It’s obvious that she’s trying to leave town with him. Before they can delve into why she’s leaving the car gets fire bombed. Clearly a targeted attack. Tim and Jackson get them to safety before calling it in.

Jackson takes AJ's mom to the side for questioning and Tim checks in on AJ. I love this scene. Getting to see that soft side Lucy has brought out so much. She would be so happy to watch him with AJ. How well he bonds with him and tries to get him to open up. (wonder how he honed that skill in..) Tim starts off with tossing his football with him. He starts to build his rapport by telling him he’s talented. AJ replies says how his football is always with him. How much he loves to practice. Tim is soft in his reply says it sounds like him with how much he loves the sport. The dedication to get better.

We’re about to get some background on Tim and I love it. Tim tells him in some ways the game saved him. AJ's interest is piqued. He asks Tim how so? Tim tells AJ growing up in his house was a bit chaotic. (Oh how understated that is my love) If you don’t know his backstory already at this point you get a sense his childhood was turbulent.

He empathizes with this kid. Relates to him and it’s written all over their scenes. It’s such a good episode for him. AJ says he knows a little something about that. Tim continues on to build rapport with him. Lets AJ know how his father was testy. Tim never knew what was going to set him off. That football was the only place he felt like he had control. I just love getting this insight into him as a character. Piece by piece we get to see why Tim is the way he is.

This shows us why he needs control like he does. (I.e. always driving the shop and Lucy not doing so) The Tim tests are a product of this as well. His way of controlling his environment and training since he didn't have that growing up. He does everything for a reason. We’re all products of the environment we grew up in. It leaves marks on us whether we like it or not. I could go on and on about him. Very passionate about his character and what makes him tick. His growth. Eric portrays him so well I could go on and on about that too but I won’t haha

AJ agrees again with saying he too relates to that. Football is where he has most control as well. Tim continues on to let him know he gets it. Football taught him teamwork, discipline and it wasn’t just a game for him. (It makes sense why he enlisted. He got everything from the service he loved about football) AJ then asks what game they’re playing now? We connect then I rat on my mom? Tim instantly says 'I would never ask you to do that.' You can see the change in AJ. He knows Tim is being genuine. He just hands him his card. Tells him to call him if he needs anything.

We return to Lucy and Harper responding to one of the many complaints they got. ‘Vagrants in the sewers.’ Harper is none to pleased about it. Says they're going fishing in the arm pit of L.A. Lucy tries to do her optimism thing. Saying isn’t this what community policing should be? Helping like this? Nyla shuts it down and says no it’s what she tells her it should be. That Lucy doesn’t want to be good at those meetings. Lucy asks why? Harper crushes her a bit more by saying if the higher ups see that it'll be all they’ll ever let her do…

They make it deep into the sewer when they find couple meth tweakers. This scene is hard to watch for how beat down Lucy is in this scene. Not just physically but that self esteem Tim has been trying to build up crumbling a bit due to it. They get attacked and Lucy has Harper's back while she cuffs one of them. Lucy is attacked by the second tweaker and overtaken. Harper jumps in to save her. Lucy thanks her but Nyla is livid she had to do so. Tells her those community meetings are all she’s good for. (Too mean Nyla too mean)

It’s not the reaction I expected from Harper first time I watched it. Then rewatching like I have it’s what she needed. Little harsher than I would’ve liked, but needed for the message she ends up delivering. Lucy is upset while the guys get hauled away. Harper picks up on it and ask her if she has something on her mind? At first Lucy says no. Harper snarks back 'That's what I thought.' Lucy snaps and tells Nyla she is wrong about her. Harper isn’t convinced in the least.

Lucy fights back says she’s more than those meetings. Harper continues the harshness and replies she must be really good at paperwork.... Then she tacks on that she can’t fight. Lucy tells her she can she’s won a lot of fights. Harper says not this one. Lucy bites back he was huge. That it wasn't fair he was much bigger than her. Harper shoots her down again. Says she took him down and his buddy.

Harper is getting under Lucy’s skin and she knows it. Says Lucy wants to hit her. That she can see it in her eyes. Tells Lucy to hit her. Lucy bawks and can't believe she's asking her to do this. Nyla shoves her to rile her up. Tells her come at her like that tweaker came after her. Lucy is pissed enough and does and quickly fails. Lucy is on her ass in seconds. Now Nyla is brutal but her message at its core is sound. Tells Lucy to stay down and get used to that position. Being a woman in uniform is anything but fair. That contrary to belief she is not a 6’2 180 lb man.

Unfortunately this isn’t gif’ed it's too bad it's such a good scene. Harper goes on to tell her ‘Tim might be a good T.O. but he can’t teach her to fight like a girl.’ She's not wrong. Nyla continues on that they get a higher show of force especially from men. That when she’s alone against a desperate suspect and she’s between them and their freedom she can’t be thinking 'Oh my he’s bigger than me.'

Harper helps her up. Tells her if she’s going to survive the streets as a 5’6 woman and one of color no less, she better be willing to learn what these boys don’t know how to teach (one of the best lines of the scene) Harpers impact on Lucy is immense. It’s not kind at first because Nyla isn’t in that place yet. She is a wrecking ball emotionally. Not her softest approach but her message like I said is sound in its logic. Lucy needs to know things she had no idea she needed until today. Why her pairing up with Nyla benefits her so much. Doesn't feel like it right now but it really does.

Lucy tries to mend fences when they get back to station. It’s who she is. I would be same way. Tries to make a joke about the meeting. How she should've listened to Harper's way of it. She gets no reply then tries to ask about her challenge coin. Harper calls her on the chit chat. Lucy is then upfront and tells her she wants to learn the job the way Harper does it.

Lucy is smart and can see the logic of what Harper was telling her. Tim is great for her but he can’t teach her what Harper knows. Nyla sadly doesn’t take her olive branch. Tells her not to be like her. Lucy commends her career and all she’s done. Harper tells her wasn't worth what she lost. That she doesn’t even want to be her. Oh Nyla you broken soul.

AJ shows up to station using Tim’s card like he was hoping he would. Tells Tim and Jackson his mom left for an errand and never came back. He’s worried something has happened to her. Tim asks him to be straight with them. That he’s stressed he gets it but can’t help her if he doesn’t. He tells them she had been hounded lately by her ex-BF to help be a getaway driver. Said he would kill AJ if she didn’t. They start to get a search grid going for her. Tim is so sweet puts his hand on his shoulder tells him it’ll be ok. I love this.

Harper is jealous Tim and Jackson are squaring off against a heist crew. She asks Lucy what they’re doing at this house. Her reply is too funny. ‘Talk to neighbor about feeding squirrels…’ Harper tells her to stay in the shop. She goes to the door solo and talks to him. She notices his hand is messed up and is instantly suspicious. Harper returns and tells Lucy to run background check.

They look him up and Harper thinks it’s the UCLA bomber. Lucy tells her they’ll need DNA. Tries to call in a warrant and Harper says no. Just needs his trash. They don't need a warrant to do a lawful search of that. Lucy starts her redemption and says Harper will need a distraction then.

Lucy knocks on the door pretending to be someone informing people about drought resistant plants. (her first mini UC) Guy isn't interested but she is persistent. Asks if she can have some water to buy Harper more time. Harper accidentally tears the bag of garbage as she is leaving. He spots Nyla outside the window and arms the floor. We hear the pressure plates click in to place.

Leaving Lucy stuck inside with his armed floor. We hear Nyla call for her (uses her last name BTW. )Lucy warns Harper to get the bomb squad. Tells her the house is armed and he’s rigging a bomb. Then is a total bad ass. Uses those worn spots she notices on his hardwood floor as her map. She slowly navigates the floor to the back room where he’s rigging a big bomb.

After she stops him from arming the bomb she throws him out the window. Harper sees them exit. You know she just proved to Nyla how good she is under pressure. Also how smart she is. She got into the house no problem with her ruse, navigated her way out, and nabbed him before he set bomb off. Nyla asks if she’s gonna puke and she says no. Then does poor girl. All that adrenaline I can’t imagine.

Lucy catches Harper before she leaves. Tells her it was nice working with her today. Nyla is kind and says me too. We see that growth kicking in. Tells Lucy she was wrong to discourage her today. Tells her to goes as far as she wants in this job. That she can be a cop like her but to be better. Tells her she’s has what it takes ‘Not Nolan’ ha

Lucy doing what she does best calling people out. Tells Harper she heard her call her Chen back at the house. Says she knows Harper knows her name haha Harper respects it and she gets a smile out of Nyla. Even John hasn’t gotten that LOL Lucy asks her if she can ask her advice from time to time. She gets a much better response this time and says 'Sure just not all the time' haha She has a rep to protect hehe. So begins a beautiful friendship.

Tim can teach her a lot of what she needs to know truly he can. But he can not teach the wisdom Nyla ends up teaching her. How to handle herself as a female cop. Talia missed the mark so badly with Lucy on that. Nyla truly capitalizes on this moving forward. Harper is exactly what Lucy needed. A strong bad ass female role model she could lean on from time to time. She is apart of the development of the Confident BAMF Lucy that we have today. One of the reasons I adore her character so much. Why I love this ep a lot as well. So good.

Tim and Jackson save AJ’s mom from the heist that takes place. Angela luckily happened to be guarding the target as an off duty side gig. It was wrapped up nicely. They were able to keep AJ's mom from being charged since she was coerced. The ending is super sweet. Get to see Tim/Jackson playing with AJ. His mom watching on. Tim looks so happy and once again in his element. Bragging about how he was one of the top QBs in the state. Eric Weddle shows back up gives Tim crap. Says his interceptions were always perfect spirals ha

Ep ends super sweet Tim/AJ squaring off against Eric and Jackson. Lots of trash talking snd cuteness haha Perfect way to end the SL. Love this so for them individually so very much. Tim for showing his compassion and sharing his past with AJ. Lucy for growing and learning about herself as a cop. Harper becoming an ally for her is huge.

Not really much two main SLs were Tim and Lucy separately. So I will say I did like Nolan and the doctor. They had a good background and chemistry. Too bad they didn't work out.

Hey! So, I know you probably haven't watched it yet, BUT: when you do, I must know your comprehensive thoughts on the latest Rookie episode!?!

Okay, because I'm insane, I'm going to split this into two sections: not-chenford, and chenford.

SPOILERS FOR 6x02 UNDER THE CUT

First up, everything NOT-chenford-related:

Honestly they could have botched it, but it was SO FUN having Randy back for the wedding. "Sit down, German, I got this." i mean???? iconic. Also having him be literally in Pete's place and WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND? even more iconic. I'm a ride or die Randy fan, so all his scenes just made me unreasonably happy :)

it was understandably short, but I loved having Celina ride with Nyla, finally. It was kind of satisfying to see her get humbled in interrogation, because imo Nolan has been kind of lax with her training, letting her get away with things the other rookies would have been fired for. So it's nice that she'll spend some time away from him and with a *ahem* more experienced TO. hopefully. We'll see.

Ugh, my heart breaks for Aaron this season. Kid's traumatized for REAL. And his comment to Celina about not sharing things with the therapist because he wants to get back on patrol, not necessarily get better. That bothered me. I really hope they dig into that a lot. But I also hope nothing horrible happens because of it. He seemed so unstable, even when he wasn't drunk. I'm also very interested to see where this goes with his and Celina's friendship. Just a lot of good stuff that could be a really thoughtful and interesting story if handled right...

Aaaaand this episode confirms that I intensely dislike Bailey. Everything about her character is just trying too hard, like the writers were so tired of having Nolan date and break up a few times, they were like okay fine this one can stay, and even though they have chemistry readings in the negatives, they keep trying to push it even though it feels so wrong. I'd rather have Nolan be single the rest of the show than be in this stale cardboard relationship. But it's fine, they're not going to split them up now, so I'll have to deal with it lol

The whole thing with Oscar suing was SO rushed. Like, so insanely rushed I couldn't even be annoyed at him. I hope they bring him back and do it for real, because that was weird to kind of shoehorn in there just for dramatic effect.

EPIC COP TEAMUP IN SUITS AND TIES MY BELOVEDDDD. Seriously they all looked SO GOOD chasing down bad guys and beating people up. White dress shirts were truly the MVPs of this episode

Will Celina just. be wearing long sleeves the rest of her life? Seriously how long has she been a rookie already?? Most of Angela's pregnancy and maternity leave, so at least 10 months, if not more. Hell, she should be graduating from the program soon. The timeline in this show is absolute trash.

James coming in clutch with the playlist was chef's kiss. I LOVE that man

ALSO JAMES AND WESLEY'S BROMANCE. "I went with a suit." "Me too. Mine has a tie." "Oh my god, same!" I CAN'T WITH THESE TWO. Probably my favorite bromance of anyone ever.

Finally, just in general-- I know some people were put off by how much stuff was jam-packed into 42 minutes (again. how???) but I think they pulled it off reasonably well. There was actually very good pacing, lots of comedy and angst and everything in between. I personally LOVED this episode and I think it deserves a few rewatches just to pick up on everything they threw at us. It has its flaws, but it will definitely be a 100th episode to remember, that's for sure.

okay, anyway.

Here we go!

I'm just a little bit torn on how they decided to approach this. On the one hand, it was nice that they were still able to work together and talk without excessive drama. Although... Tim shutting the door on her did hurt. Yeah. That hurt a lot. But I had really hoped that they would acknowledge that Lucy was in the wrong last episode too. She was being completely unreasonable and like Tim said, she was projecting. But in this ep, it seemed like she was validated and he was the one being unreasonable. While his trauma with Isabel is something they desperately need to talk about (like Lucy said), she was also reacting too harshly to it and being unfair with her accusations. But honestly, it's okay. We still have 8 episodes to sort it out and it seems like they're very much on the right track. I'm hoping they have a really really really intense, tearful, honest, raw, cathartic conversation about the whole thing. Seems like that's the direction they're going, so I won't hold my breath but it is something that needs to happen.

ALL OF THEIR INTERACTIONS were just so. hnnggg. so chewy. so much going on. THE LOOKS DURING THE WEDDING. hang on I'll come back to that in a sec.

The scene with the Hammer was NEXT LEVEL. (Also fun that they named the episode after That Scene, specifically. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........) For some reason I immensely enjoyed watching Tim get thrown around like a rag doll. Not sure what that's about. Never seen that side of myself before.

THE FORESHADOWING. That on-one-knee thing was more than I thought they'd give us, and OMG I ATE IT UP. The little pause, where Lucy's breath kind of catches, and Tim just seems kind of oblivious. THAT'S CINEMA, BABEY.

Kind of insane about Tim just passing out like that. Poor man.

CELINA MENTIONING LUCY'S BACHELORETTE PARTY????? hello even more foreshadowing :))))

The scene cuts back and forth when Lucy is helping with the cake and Tim with the flowers??? THEY'RE TELEPATHIC SOULMATES DON'T TALK TO ME.

And the fact that the lie detector was RANDY'S IDEA? I'm shrieking. "Ein wenig crazy," is definitely something my adhd bilingual ass has said irl

oh my lord how CLOSE she scoots her chair?? i'm melting

I thought it was kind of a nice touch to have Tim be actually surprised by the lie detector picking up his answer to the last question being a lie. Because honestly.... now it makes a little more sense: he's been lying to himself. Which is kind of an angle I didn't see coming. "I guess we do have a problem," sounds to me like he literally hasn't been able to admit to himself that he doesn't want Lucy undercover. Of course he wants her to make detective, that's not a question. Detective doesn't equal undercover. But he's been telling himself probably since day one that he's fine with it, that she's not Isabel, that he has nothing to worry about . . . and now he's finally seeing that he really is terrified. Something she's seen in him all along. And while their argument last episode was about more than just this (I still believe she was in the wrong for projecting so hard and making crazy assumptions about him), I think I can see where the writers were going with it.

THE I LOVE YOUS D E S T R O Y E D ME

Okay, back to the Looks at the wedding. Tim being all 🧍and scanning the crowd for his girl . . . Lucy delivering the Heart Eyes of the century . . . Them still sitting together because even though they're fighting, they're still each other's person, and nothing can change that . . . I'm going into cardiac arrest.

In my book, "We're gonna get through this" is a nice breath of fresh air and a bit of relief, but it doesn't mean they've worked everything out. Again, they need a good solid conversation. One that this episode was never going to give us, sadly. But it'll come!

ALSOOOO that moment when Aaron interrupts them and we see Tim's hand around her waist, I just OOF i need a moment

I AM NEVER GONNA BE NORMAL ABOUT THIS EPISODE. the foreshadowing, the parallels, the pining, the dancing, the fighting, the emotions, EVERYTHING. It was not perfect but it was WONDERFUL. 10000/10, I need to watch all their scenes about five million more times.

AND THERE WE HAVE IT. I'll definitely be posting more thoughts soon, but that's where I'm at for now. Basically I think they set the groundwork for a really solid, healthy relationship going forward. I LOVED their moments in this ep, absolutely top tier. The ANGST. I am eating up every second of it.

1: That scene in 4x01: Life and Death

"A hug... I..." Her voice trembles with each word, the soft whispers and words left unsaid filling the otherwise silent night.

She still can't wrap her head around it, that her best friend in the entire world is just... gone, taken away from her by the single push of a trigger. It's all too common in their line of work and yet, unimaginable.

They were in a safe place, in their happy little bubble, celebrating life and love. How could a celebration turn into a funeral just like that?

It's just...

"Yeah." It takes him less than a second to wrap his arms around her, to tuck her head beneath his chin, and hold her as close as he physically could.

After today, after knowing the lengths La Fiera would go to to enact her revenge, he's thankful she's still by his side, because he knows she could've easily turned her attention to the one responsible for putting her in jail, and he'd be caressing her lifeless body once again instead.

He's fearful for Angela and her unborn child, and he grieves for the bright soul they lost in the young officer, but for the moment, he's grateful he can be her source of comfort, and someone she can depend on.

But time moves all too fast and he finds himself needing to let her go.

She feels the chill the second she leaves the comfort of his arms, but the look he gives her fills her with a warmth she's never felt before. In his gaze, she finds a longing, a deep sense of yearning and a calmness she is yet to understand.

Their gaze is charged with intensity and words which don't need to be said. He knows her as well as she knows him, and both know that being alone is the last thing they want tonight.

He gently places his hands on her shoulders as he turns her around, leading her over to his room. There's only one bed, and while neither of them had been planning to share it, things never really go to plan.

He ushers her over to the left, tucking her beneath the blankets before moving to the right. It's the least worn part of the bed and he knows he'll feel the effects of the stiffer mattress in the morning, but he'd gladly give anything up just so she'd feel safe and comfortable.

"Good night." She whispers, willing her eyes to slip shut so she could fall into the land of slumber where she can dream of him. But the second she does, all she remembers is how she held him in her arms the night that Chris died, and how she wishes he were here toHe hears the soft sobs before the bed begins to shake, and all his reservations disappear. He pulls her into him, covering her entire body with his as he gently brushes her hair aside.

He presses his skin to her face, drying all her tears away as he whispers soft sweet nothings into her ear. It's not much in the way of comfort, but it's the only thing he can do... Just hold her until everything fades away.

Slowly but surely, they fall asleep, and when they wake to Wesley's call, they move about as if nothing has happened.

I just finished watching Season 2, so here are some of my random thoughts throughout the season:

-The challenge coin thing in 2x07 made me chuckle. Nyla is amazing. She protested the football/PTA thing and I was like ‘she doesn’t want the football thing, she’s just protesting for the principle of it’ 😂 (Also, their challenge coins look so thin! Mine’s like 3 times as thick...)

-I think in 2x08 you really start to see Tim trusting Lucy’s skills and instincts more, and you get to see Lucy trusting herself more too and being more assertive on the job. She yells at the mechanic guy, does an interview solo, and has her first little undercover gig. Love it!

-In 2x10 I was cringing at the way they uncovered the clandestine graves. *shudders* Also, the remains weren’t buried very deep at all. They probably would have been dug up by animals and scattered a long time ago.

-By about the middle of season 2, I think I was finally used to them calling their squads their ‘shop’. 🚓 Where I’m from they’re just called ‘squads’ or ‘rigs’, so ‘shop’ is weird to me and took some getting used to.

-In 2x16 when Jackson points out to Angela that Wesley’s going to propose, I think it’s super sweet that she only freaks out about everything that could go wrong during the proposal, not that Wesley’s going to propose. And Wesley was the same way. Wopez is the cutest. I love how sure they are of each other.

-Lucy’s Whaaat? in 2x17 after she asks Tim’s opinion on Emmett and he says she can do better is great. I’d seen gifs of the scene, but the inflection Melissa puts on it is amazing. A+ acting. That whole car convo is terrific Chenford content.

Chenford + the prank, I lied Tim 💔

“Okay, okay, okay - we need a new game to play.” Angela was tired of always losing to Tim and/or Lucy. She had a rep to protect. She was fierce and competitive and hated losing. HATED to lose. Her husband Wesley was also tired of her lamenting the never ending losing. “I’ve got a game you , as a detective, will love . I’ll bring it up on Saturday. And we can make the rules , which are ridiculously simple, as clean or dirty as we want. I’ll leave that choice up to you. “. As they settled down to eat Wes explained how the game works…

That weekend, all their favorite people were in Patrice’s “great room” ( the only place large enough for this many people), while Patrice was upstairs tending to Jackson. Nolan + Bailey, Nyla + Marcus, Thorsen, Smitty,Lucy, Tim, Grey, Luna, Angela and Wesley were lounging on the comfy sofas and nibbling from the spread in the kitchen.

As the dishes were cleared, Wesley stands up and says, “thank you all so much for coming out tonight. Angela and I are so glad you are here. As is tradition, the hosts choose the game of the night and gets to change any rule just for this night and Nolan, Angela and Lucy have “saves” from previous weeks they can use tonight or they lose them. A save means they basically pass their turn onto the next person.

Tonight, we are playing ‘ 2 truths and a lie.’ The way this will work is, we will go around the room until everyone gets a turn - if you use a save, we’ll come back to you after everyone else has gone, but you will still have to go. When it’s your turn, you’ll stand up and say three things about yourself, some action you’ve taken in the past, or some feeling you have and each of us will have to guess which of those things is the lie. Oh and Angela’s rule is, that all 3 things must be tied to the other people in this house - so Jack and my mom as well can be included.

So for example, I might say: 1) Before Jackson….left us, Angela and I considered ‘Quigley’ for our baby’s name because it’s a family name and Angela lost a bet to Smitty; 2) my stabbing scar is in the same place as Lucy’s tattoo and Tim’s gunshot scar; and 3) Four of the people in this room are former clients of mine. Then each of you will write on a sticky - and you’ll notice you all have different colors, now you know why- who was speaking and which of their 3 things is a lie. Angela will tally the votes and then, the Speaker - in this case me - would say which of the 3 things was the lie. Make sense? “

NOLAN: so are we starting with your 3?

WES: sure. Let’s start with me. Everyone write Wes and the # 1 2 or 3 for whichever of my statements you think is a lie and then pass your stickies to Angela, that’s right…. Ok Angela, what’s the verdict?”

ANGELA: We have 5 for Quigley, 4 for scars and Lucy and I for the clients. 11 votes minus the speaker who doesn’t vote. If you guess right, you get a point. And so no one accuses me of cheating, I’ll be sticking the winning votes on the wall and tossing the wrong ones. Then Patrice will do the final count by color at the end of the night. And the winner, will win a prize. So, Wes, please tell us which was the lie?

WES: you and Lucy are right. You each get a point and are in the lead!

The group laughed and Angela cut off Smitty so he couldn’t explain the bet he won against Angela. But Wesley would not divulge the correct number of clients to the group - he just left it that the number was not 4. As promised, Angela stuck her and Lucy’s stickies on the wall and shredded the remaining ones. They were dead serious about no cheating.

AARON: Man, that’s cold and hard core.

While Nolan was thinking up his 3 statements, Lucy debates what to do. She knows she’ll be a tad tipsy by the time they get around to her as Angela made sure to mention that Patrice had stocked up on her favorite - Prosecco. Sparking truth juice. She knew what her lie was going to be and one of her truths, but was debating if she wanted to be bold and shock Tim - hopefully spurring him into action. This limbo was driving her crazy. Being in love and not knowing if the other person felt the same was pure torment. He’s clearly not going to do anything so, I might just have to.

NOLAN: OK, for me 1) Bailey and I are getting married (he’d proposed to her the night before and had her ring in his pocket to give to her and no one knew.); 2) the jilted bride from the Hollywood sign named her first born after me (the lie); and 3) Grey sings gangsta rap when high on morphine.

Everyone was clamoring over those comments, some cheers, and Bailey was sitting quietly so people guessed they were not getting married, but Lucy figured they were -duh - so she chose the bride. Everyone else chose Bailey except Lucy, Tim and Angela.

NOLAN: so two things, Bailey (he gets on one knee and holds up a stunning emerald cut diamond ring), will you marry me? She gasps, and said “like I told you last night, YES!” (The group cheered and then groaned when they realized Lucy won again!). Second thing, I’m giving Bailey my save so babe, you and your ring can be adored until later when the turn comes back around to you.

Wesley looks at Tim, who starts to stand and Lucy stands up and says, “Whoa there Nelly - I’m giving you my save too. So you can sit your handsome self back down for a bit.” Tim can tell she’s tipsy - she called him handsome. “finally, you agree with me” he says in return. Angela just smirks at him.

LUCY: Nolan come here for one sec….

She whispers to him that she’s going to say they dated at the academy - but nothing about when they were Rookies if he’s ok with that. Nolan nods, I am ok with that and sits back down.

LUCY: ok all you party people let’s do this! (Giggle) yes yes Prosecco makes me giggle. Ok. My turn.

#1. I had my DOD tattoo removed. (Tim was snapped out if his “thank god I don’t have to do this” reverie after Lucy saved him. What? She never told me that. When did that happen? Tim glared at her out of the corner of his eye.)

2. Nolan and I dated at the academy on the down low. Jackson knew but we 3 never told anyone.. multiple people said “ewww”, to which Nolan said, “what? I’m allowed a rebound with a younger, beautiful woman aren’t I?” Tim was very surprised and yet not. Lucy didn’t give a hoot about what most people thought of her. Good thing she kept that a secret. And that’s another reason why I can’t let down my guard. God, she’s beautiful. I love her more -wait, what? I love her? Hell yes, I love her. Crap, can people tell? Get it together Bradford. Now is not the time to let those feelings show.

3. During my last Rookie shift with Tim, I played a pretty serious prank on him in our shop. She turned and looked Tim dead in the eye and said, “Tim sweetie, I lied.” Lucy looked right at Tim when she spoke. She unlocked her love for him for just a moment so it came gushing out of her eyes when she spoke softly, conveying hopefully that he finally understood how much she loved him. For his part, Tim having just realized he loved Lucy, when she looked at him like that saying she lied? Wait. She lied. She really does have feelings for me? Fuck. LUCY HAS FEELINGS FOR ME. Tim was about to stand up, go to her and kiss her, but he realized one of those statements was a lie. She wouldn’t publicly hurt me in front of all my friends. He looks at Angela, who in turn glances at Nyla. The ladies grabbing hold of their men’s hands. Lucy didn’t realize most of the group knew about the prank. The group collectively held their breath.

The larger group is unsure how to vote, Lucy from all her undercover work is quite a good liar and they really cant tell which is a lie. The votes are evenly split across the 3 options.

LUCY: Tim, would you come up here please? Tim is terrified and hopeful and slowly stands up and walks over to Lucy. He can’t breathe.

LUCY: Tim, let me have your hand please. He looks at her confused and glances at Angela who shrugs. Lucy grabs his hand and licks his thumb as she lifts her shirt to reveal….. no tattoo. The group think that’s the reveal.

THORSEN: when did you have that removed? However, Tim knows she often covers her tattoo if there’s a chance a stranger might see it. And she did just lick me. He also kicks his thumb to taste her again, and wipes her skin where the tattoo should be. Back and forth and back….. and suddenly everyone can see “DOD”….

TIM: what did you lie about?

LUCY: that I don’t have feelings for you. I do.

TIM: you do?

LUCY: big, fat, juicy, all consuming feelings for you. I am so in love with you.

TIM: FINALLY! Thank god. I am so in love with you. He grabs her, dips her and kisses her. The group cheers!

LUCY: I win!

GREY: you two need to come by in the morning and sign some paperwork, ok?
