✨ 30 Days Of Tiva ✨

Calling — all Tiva fans!!!

I’m embarking on a project for July 2024 titled: #30DaysOfTiva!!

I was looking at the tag of the new show (NCIS: Tony and Ziva) on A03, and I know it has only been wrangled for a short period of time, but it made me sad to only see a very small number of fics in it — the majority being mine! (I’ve written 9/13 of them!).

Of course, I know that this will increase as time goes on, and people start adding their fics to the tag, but I thought: wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a giant arsenal of fanfiction in the tag, before the show even airs? Not just for lifelong Tiva lovers, but for newcomers to the show who may go in search for new/extra content!

Thus, the idea for 30 Days of Tiva popped into my head, and I invite all Tiva fans to participate! The more the merrier! 🥰

Rules:

✨ Upload one piece of Tiva fanfiction to A03 every day, between July 1st and July 30th.

✨They can be any length. Ideally, they’ll be one-shots, drabbles, or dialogue-only, and should all be standalones. However, if you have a multi-chapter fanfic you’d like to write, uploading one chapter every day is fine!

✨ They must be new fanfics — i.e not adding anything on to WIPs. The idea is to create as much new content as possible.

✨ There should be limited editing to each one because we’re aiming for quantity over quality. You can always go back and rewrite and the end of the challenge.

✨ Try and write as many fanfics for the new show (NCIS: Tony and Ziva) tag as possible. Of course, they can be about Tiva at any time — but it would be great to get a large bank of fanfics in the tag before the show airs!

✨ Promote your content with the hashtag #30DaysOfTiva across platforms — twitter, tumblr, and tag in the works, so anybody who wishes to search for it, can find it! 😊

And even though he acknowledged that it was one of yours he saved them for special moments in time, always needing a reason for that physical touch for it to be special and meaningful. Today however was one of those days, you had both almost lost your lives due to some crazy sociopath who was trying to wipe out people he blamed for his own misdeeds instead of taking responsibility for them himself. After surviving a bomb that had gone off in your car, and being shot at twice in the space of the last 4 days he was not letting you go, his arms were wrapped around you as the medics checked you over, kisses were placed on the top of your head as he kept whispering over and over again

NCIS 21×05 “The Plan” is an episode about Jessica Knight, but it’s also an episode about Knight in Shining Palmer and the relationship they have now and the one they could have in the future. It’s also an episode about the things you think you want, the life you plan for, and the life you end up with.

Jessica’s side brings out a different side of Agent Knight, one that has to do with the expectations of others and one that feels very familiar to children of immigrants. And yet, this hour isn’t just about those expectations, it’s about Jessica’s decisions and how those decisions involve the relationship she’s now in.

So let us talk about that plan Jessica has taken a detour from, where this episode leaves Knight in Shinning Palmer and that little bit of angst as we discuss NCIS 21×05 “The Plan”:

THE BEST-LAID PLANS

In NCIS 21×05 “The Plan” we see Jessica’s life come into direct contradiction not just with what her father wants — and expects — from her, but what Jessica herself had planned for her life. And yet, the thing is, plans change. Life isn’t something you can control, not really. And it isn’t something you should try to control. Because Jessica Knight right now has managed something she couldn’t have expected, she’s happy. And isn’t that more important than the plan?

Her father might not think so at first. It’s so hard when you’ve lived a life that is so tied to your accomplishments, to see happiness as the ultimate goal. But by the end, he’s maybe starting to come around. He’s not there yet, but he’s trying. Because he sees that Jessica is happy. And Jimmy is part of that. But she’s happy because she’s making her own decisions. And he, as her father, should respect that.

Plans are all fine and good. We should make them. But we shouldn’t become slaves to them. Sometimes things go the way we plan them. Sometimes they don’t. Sometimes people come into our lives that we didn’t plan for. And if those people make us happy, well …happpines should be the end goal for life, shouldn’t it?

THE LOVE YOU NEED

There’s a lot of good sentiments in NCIS 21×05 “The Plan,” and there’s a little bit of angst — enough that it might be easier to hold onto that, to come out of this hour feeling a tad anxious about where Knight in Shining Palmer goes next. For me, however, this episode exemplifies what makes Jessica and Jimmy work as a couple, even if it also showcases how much we need a Season 22 and beyond for them to grow together.

At first glance, they might not be the most obvious couple, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need. Someone who pushes you out of your comfort zone. Someone who makes you see the world differently. And someone who is there for you when you just need a hand to hold, a shoulder to rest your head on.

They are friends first and found family before anything. That’s the strongest foundation there is for a love that can carry you through the hardest times and a love that can support you through anything. Procedurals are the land of great couples. There’s Mulder and Scully. There’s Bones and Booth. There’s Castle and Beckett. The NCIS franchise has given us Tiva and Densi. And now, well …not we have Palmer and Knight. Who would have thought?

RIGHT NOW

There’s a little bit of angst in NCIS 21×05 “The Plan,” and it comes from Jessica stumbling upon her words as she tries to explain to Jimmy what he means to her. “Right now” to her doesn’t mean she isn’t committed, it means she doesn’t see life the way Jimmy does, not yet.

“You may not be part of my dad’s plan, but you are part of mine,” she tells him later, as close to a declaration of commitment as Jessica Knight gets. But the “right now” lingers in Jimmy’s mind, one can tell. He’d fall on the sword for her if she asked. He’s ready to fall on the sword without her asking, as soon as she brings up her dad’s position, which she never intended on taking.

This is partly insecurity and partly a bad combo of who they are as people and how their personalities potentiate each other’s fears. Jimmy doesn’t know how to ask for more. Jessica doesn’t always know how to say what she feels. In the end, they both need to take a little step out of their comfort zone for the relationship to work. That’s what you do when you love someone.

Come on, McGee. All these years later and you think you can just walk into the office talking about something so sus and not dish? This is what family is all about!

Torres and Knight being so quick to look at his screen is what this team is all about, I’m telling you.

Half-sister. Yiikes.

Jessica’s dad is coming oh yay (not? I’m unclear here).

Okay, so Jessica’s dad doesn’t know about Jimmy. But why?

Look Dad, this is a really compromising situation, okay? Start explaining.

Family is also going from “Please leave” to “Love you,” okay? Okay.

The Jimmy scene with Jessica’s dad might have been the most awkward scene I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I wanted the ground to swallow me whole.

Kudos to Brian Dietzen, he acted the hell out of that.

“You looked him up already?”/”Why else would I let you drive?”

We’re dealing with “I’ll take cyanide instead of speaking level perps”? Whaaaat?

But don’t you love how Jimmy just sees right through her?

“Right now.”

OUCH.

look I hasn’t been in the fandom for a while but a fic make me go check it, woo there’s hawaii and la is canceling? damn, didn’t see either of that coming but the only thing that’s recurring in is mw’s cryptic vid messages and have the clickbaity articles covering them and that he will be back and that never happens or the possibility of tiva reunion and I think that screams clout-chasing behavior and makes me hate him even more…

This is very random but what fic drew you back into the fandom? I’m curious lol.

1. A friend of mine said they want another new NCIS spin-off and CBS seems to have decided that 3 at a time is the max so i guess that’s why? They’ve been very successful and one of the only shows to have both main leads stay the entire time so maybe they wanna just leave it as it is? Everyone seems to be at peace with the decision so c’est la vie I guess.

2. I’m honestly not surprised that NCIS: Hawai’i came to be. CBS seems to have a deal with Hawai’i because first it was Hawaii: five-0 and magnium pi but if my memory is correct Magnium PI was canceled and then NCIS: Hawaii came to be

3. Tell me about one of your fics you think is underrated / underappreciated.

it's hard to gauge what counts as underrated based on fandom. for instance, my beyonders fic has the lowest amount of hits/kudos of all my fics, but the beyonders fandom is so small that i don't really feel like people are sleeping on it? and i never could judge how my fics were faring in the bigger fandom that shall not be named because they have so much more attention than stuff for my other fandoms, generally, but all the time people when they recced my fics on reddit were like ohhhh this author is so underrated and. honestly. i kind of hated that. i do think there were some fics of mine for that fandom that didn't get as much attention as some of my others when they were better (imo), and that would be both of my christmas fics, left of the dial, and the otgw au. i would say planetarium stickers but enough people have told me incredibly complimentary things about it that i feel like the point got across, lol. as for other fandoms i think everyone should watch national treasure and read beyonders so they can read three's a crowd and the swing of things because i'm very proud of them.

7. Is there a character or ship you'd love to write for, but haven't yet?

GOD yes. i really want to write some tiva from ncis, i'm working on a couple jason and ferrin fics obviously, and i desperately need to write locklyle at some point because they are haunting me this week. very much need to write a mia winters fic, the marilyn batson fic, and i'd love to write for megstine from phantom of the opera if i can. maybe clois, and maybe joel from the last of us too. and of course, dorothy gale.

24. What are some of your favourite tropes?

everyone always asks this and every time i can never think of tropes that aren't typical fanfic romance tropes, none of which i enjoy. so let me just make shit up. love near-death experiences, love died and came back, love when a character overexerts themself in a fight/protecting someone else and collapses afterwards (this is also fun if it involves hiding a wound), love hurt/comfort, all that. love when the spy meant to betray you actually becomes your friend and you get the whole "as time went on i stopped pretending" bit. give me ALL of that please.
