okay actually. i am maybe going to cry lol. here is a non-exhaustive list of the medical professionals i have seen since i was in seventh grade:

too many internists (as primary care/general practice) to actually count. well over a dozen.

two neurologists

one spine specialist

seven physical therapists

two chiropractors

four massage therapists

three dentists

one oral surgeon

i have had many MRIs and x-rays. i have had a lot of blood taken. i have taken rounds of steroids and muscle relaxers for pain/symptom management. there have been times i could not turn my head to one side for months at a time. i have scoliosis, which wasn't figured out until the fifth or so physical therapist, even though previous chiropractors had taken x-rays of my spine.

here is a non-exhaustive list of reasons why i sought such intensive care:

debilitating migraines

severe back pain

severe neck pain

bad pain flares in my back teeth during times of stress

ear aches

here is a non-exhaustive list of things i have been told about myself by these professionals:

the enamel on my teeth was worn off and had to be artificially reapplied "because" i "brushed my teeth too aggressively."

that the reason my ears hurt was "because" i "cleaned them too aggressively" and there was no protective ear wax left.

that the lowest three discs in my spine were degenerating.

that i was grinding my teeth in my sleep.

that i was hyper-tensing in my sleep and that i should "take xanax daily & nightly to make it stop."

that i had scoliosis. (this one is 100% confirmed)

that i needed therapy to become less stressed so my muscles would relax.

that i needed massage therapy and other various treatments to address how tight all my fascia was in certain parts of my body.

that i should try mouth guards because the teeth grinding had started to do real damage.

that i should enter a sleep study for how intense and chronic my insomnia was.

that the pain in my hands/tingling in my fingers was because my wrists were too weak.

that there was "something evil stored" in my neck

and then. an anon yesterday asked if i had tmj. and i said probably not. and then @chronodyne slid me a message that said "re: tmj, mine is myofascial and i also don’t have the clicking/trouble opening my mouth."

so i did some reading.

starting with myofascial tmj got me here (cedars-sinai.org)

i paused to look up bruxism, which turns out to be the medical term for grinding/clenching your fucking teeth:

highlights are things i have experienced and sought or had medical attention for (dull headaches are not highlighted because i have only ever sought medical attention for migraines, though i certainly have dull headaches all the time).

okay. so i know i clench my jaw/grind my teeth in the daytime. and a dentist has told me before that it's evident i do it in my sleep, too. just the other day i woke up with a ravaged inside right cheek from chewing it in my sleep. so i can safely self-diagnose bruxism.

back to tmd.

highlights are symptoms i have experienced. i did not highlight teeth sensitivity because i would classify it as pain instead. but you don't understand the howl i let out internally when i read the ringing in the ears and numbness/tingling feeling in your fingers bullet points. i have been operating under the assumption that i have tinnitus and probably a very scary autoimmune disorder that i just am better off ignoring (this is not medical advice, it's avoidance). i'm not saying i don't have those things, but i also never knew there were other possibilities.

over the course of my life i have had many injuries to my neck and actually i have also had a pretty severe concussion before, which i would classify as a head injury. i have many of the symptoms listed for tmd. i have even undergone, incongruously, many of the treatments for it. so many doctors have noted and attempted to address issues with my fascia, with my muscles, with my tension.

it raising its ugly head when i'm stressed makes sense i literally said in my post yesterday DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ANYONE WHEN THEIR BLOOD PRESSURE RAISES LOL SOB

i cannot conclusively diagnose myself with tmd or, for that matter, with mps (myofasical pain syndrome, which i had also never heard of!). but i am so, so frustrated because i have never even heard these words. i have never been screened for these things. no medical professional has ever discussed these possibilities with me, even when they're treating me for several of the symptoms!

i'm crying for all the tests i've undergone that led to nothing. always, infuriatingly, labeled a medical mystery. for the rounds of steroids and muscle relaxers i've been prescribed. for the painful manual manipulations i've been subjected to. for every single person who ever touched my body commenting on how tight/tense my neck is. for the addiction that stemmed from that first xanax prescription when i was 15 that caused so much fucking grief in my life. for the chronic pain that has swallowed whole decades of my life and sapped my energy since i was a child.

none of these symptoms were ever NOT disclosed to a medical professional. at each one, i did the immense labor of dragging out my entire, perplexing medical history, including injuries and past issues and treatments. but nobody ever thought to consider this? nobody, with all those degrees, with those long careers, with all those patients, ever thought to consider this? while i was in all those paper gowns, on all those cold tables, getting poked and prodded, crying, paying for tests i could not afford, so sleep deprived i thought i'd die at 25, nobody considered this?

anyway @chronodyne suggested seeing an oral surgeon to discuss this so. i guess that's what i'm looking up next.

OKAY SO! MFRP stands for MultiFandom RolePlay. Mine’s a private discord server between me and my buddies, where we all sit and RP because writing together’s fun! Been doin RP since I was a wee little lad. I’ve been running this server for 3 years now- just turned 3 on Dec 15th. Me and my buddies take characters we’re passionate about, and write as if we are them. Jack and Yuya specifically are muses I’ve had for around.. 5? 6 years now? It’s the reason why Yuya’s so old compared to canon, actually. But I digress.

The AU designs themselves aren’t from a solid AU plot point, it’s a culmination of stuff that’s happened in the server! Some of these designs me and my friends have originally come into the server like that- and we have extensive backstory/au written beforehand- or it’s a normal guy who gets messed up later on. With the latter, it’s usually because of some magical force of fuckery that we call Transmagica Monstrum Disease. It’s a plot-point that started many years ago, and there's still no known cure for the ailment. TMD is highly contagious, and its only goal is to spread to everything and anything organic. 

TMD, 9 out of 10 times, will alter the users body in some way, shape, or form. Via giving them some sort of physical alteration, a power alteration, or both. The initial ‘transformation’ stage is painful, and lasting side effects are present. Those afflicted may enter a “feral/berserk” state that’s uncontrollable and difficult to quell. Initial harnessing of the powers can also be difficult, and many end up hurting themselves before learning to harness them. It’s beneficial, but also has its downsides. 

By the RPers/muns choice, a character/muse can get infected with TMD.

A/N: Although I have been on a TMD roll lately, I wrote this for a dear friend of mine who requested it.

This is x gender neutral reader!

Curly always got excited when fighting was involved. Danger sent his adrenaline running hard, a feeling he always enjoyed. He was crazy; a maniac, even. He was confident cocky and self assured. There’s no way he could lose.

But that didn’t stop you from worrying. You remembered the one time the Shepard gang had lost a rumble since you came around, how busted Curly was. His head was all but cracked open. You’re not even sure if the bruises had yet to go away.

You watched as Curly slipped his t-shirt on over his head, curls swaying with every move. He ran a hand through his hair, shaking his head to put the back into place. He was pretty, that was for sure. The black, bouncy locks always sit so perfectly against his tan skin.

He looked at you from in the mirror. He knew you hated when he fought. He saw the way you reacted when he came home that one night, when they had a rumble despite being down almost half their men. He remembered it perfectly, the way you couldn’t even yell at him when you patches him up as best you could.

“What’s goin on in your head, baby?” He asked. He ran his tongue over his lips, pulling his belt tight around his hips.

You shook your head, letting out a sigh as you handed him his leather jacket. He took it, only to toss it on the bed next to you.

Tapping your forehead, he asked you again, “What’s happening up there?”

You grabbed his hand, keeping it pressed close to you. You barely managed to make eye contact.

Curly brought his hands to your face, holding the sides of your head. His thumb stroked your cheek.

“Don’t be worryin’,” he laughed. “I’ll be fine.”

You huffed. Curly sighed, pulling you up by your wrists. His hands found your hips and you couldn’t help but lay your head against his chest.

“Listen to me,” he said to you, his voice low and quiet. “I’ll be comin right back through that door before ya know it, you’ll barely even notice I left.”

You nodded simply and let him press a kiss to your lips. It was just a peck, this time. You’d be lying if you said it didn’t bother you.

“There’s more where that came from, later.”

Mining multi-omics data for molecular subtyping in gliomas facilitates precise clinical treatment

Summary Glioma is the most common malignancy in the skull, accounting for approximately 2% of adult systemic tumors. It is characterized by a high recurrence rate, high disability rate, and poor sensitivity to chemotherapy. Different subtypes of glioma exhibit varying prognosis and chemotherapy sensitivities. Currently, researchers extensively study the molecular classification of glioma based on transcriptomic features, facilitating the evaluation of prognosis. However, identification of tumor subtypes based on the single-layer-omics data have several limitations. In this regard, the present study aimed to identify new subtypes of glioma using three omics datasets for prognosis prediction. As a result, cluster A subtype was identified to be associated with lower activation of cell proliferation and better prognosis, while cluster B subtype exhibited higher infiltration of M2-type macrophages and higher activation of the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) pathway, potentially leading to a poorer prognosis. Furthermore, we employed the Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis (WGCNA) algorithm and limma R package to identify driver genes for clusters A and B. Consequently, nine genes were identified as gene signatures for cluster A. Based on this finding, we quantified the two subtypes using the single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) algorithm, where a higher score were linked to elevated tumor mutation burden (TMD) and signaling pathways related to cell proliferation. Low scores indicated enrichment of tumorigenesis-related pathways and poor prognosis. In silico drug screening suggested that AGI-6780 could be an effective compound for high cluster subtypes, based on brain tumor cell lines. Consequently, our study determined that the score can serve as an effective index to predict the prognosis of glioma. http://dlvr.it/Spk2l8

Isn’t it weird that we call issues with TMJ just “TMJ”? Like if someone is if someone gets migraines and is like “oh I have TMJ”, like no shit everyone with a jaw has TMJ. Because you see, TMJ is the jaw joint. People get migraines because they’re TMJ is misbehaving, they have a “TMJ Disorder” sometimes called TMD. It would be like if someone had a rotator cuff injury and every time they’re shoulder dislocated they were like “yeah I got a rotator cuff” or they had a bad knee and were like “I use a cane because I have a knee”.

Anyways, I just came out of a migraine. Mine was not caused by any TMJ issues, mine tend to be caused by food allergies or hormone weirdness or other random causes. But TMD runs in my family, and a had appliances in my mouth to correct my TMJ before I got TMD like the rest of my family, so I guess I that’s good or I would probably get twice as many migraines.
