Utter chaos.

That's a phrase you'd use to describe the locker room. Everyone is trying to put on their gear and uniforms quickly, and half the team can't even find their stuff.

Usually, getting ready in the locker room is calm- or as calm as you can get with the ducks. But Coach had just told you guys about 5 minutes ago that your game between the Razorbacks had been changed from 7pm to 5pm, and it was currently 4:56pm.

"Man, we ain't got no time to warm up." Jesse complains, searching his locker for his helmet.

The team murmurs in agreement, still rushing to get everything together. As your strapping your padding on you hear the doors open.

"Shit, shit, shit, shit!" You hear Adam curse, running in, duffel bag hanging off his shoulder.

"Adam where were you?" Charlie calls out from across the room.

"I wasn't- coach- hold of me" He pants, seeming as though he ran the whole way.

"Coach couldn't get a hold of you?" You ask, trying to piece together what he said still shocked you heard him swear.

He nods, before rushing to his area slipping past the others, who were just about ready to get on the ice.

"Why's the door open?" Coach asks, before looking at the lot of you, already sweaty and out of breath.

"Cmon guys we need to be on the ice in 2 minutes!"

He leaves along with a few of the Ducks, but you stay, still needing to put on your jersey and lace up your skates.

Your rummaging through your locker, which is right next to Adam's might you add, as you feel a pair of cold, icy hands on your waist.

"Scuse me (Y/n)," Adam murmured, passing through the small space behind you to get to his locker.

The feeling of his hands on your waist sends you into shock, making you freeze, sending chills down your spine.

But reality hits when Bombay comes through the locker room one last time.

"(L/n), Banks, Germaine, Mendoza! Out of the locker room you guys are taking too long!" He booms, snapping you out of your trance.

You lace your skates, passing Adam one last time, catching a glimpse at his face. He has a stupid grin on his face, knowing he got to you.

"Good Luck, (L/n),"

"We'll definitely need it," you sigh, before putting your helmet on and joining the others.

You were waiting for your boyfriend Adam at the park. You were sitting up against a tree with your eyes closed you knew it would take a while because he had hockey training but it didn’t bother you and you decided to come down early since it was a nice day.You and Adam had been dating for about a year and everything was great between you too but the thing is, Adams hockey team still didn’t know about you two. You had asked Adam to keep it a secret because you were scared of how they would react. These were Adams best friends and you were scared that they wouldn’t like you and then Adam would agree. Even though Adam had constantly assured you that they would love you and even if they didn’t he still would.

As you were sitting against the tree sun shining on your face you felt an arm wrap around your shoulders and a light kiss on the temple. You look to your left seeing your boyfriend sending him a small smile which he returned. He placed a small kiss on your hair as you leaned on his shoulder. “I thought you couldn’t come down until later” you said snuggling into his side as you wrap your arms around his middle.

“Training is optional so I decided to come down early and wait for you. Seems you had the same idea” he said tucking your head under his chin. You and Adam sat like this for about 5 minutes before the peaceful silence was interrupted by a group of kids and it wasn’t until they spoke that you realized who they where.

“Look Cake eater has a girl.” One said as the all skated over to you you looked up to see Adam giving you an apologetic look. “So Adam who’s the girl” another asked the others nodding and agreeing with the question. Adam looks at you as if silently asking if you were ready to tell them and you sent a small nod keeping you glaze down. You knew there was no point in lying they caught you cuddling they probably already assumed that you two were dating besides they would have found out eventually so there was no point in hiding anymore.

“This is Y/N, my girlfriend.” He slightly hesitated before saying the second part. They didn’t really seemed to fazed by it and you guessed that they knew something was going on with Adam because he never missed practice optional or not. After Adam introduced you to all of the team they decided they would sit down with you despite Charlie’s protest.

“So this is why you missed practice?” Charlie asked.

“Shut up, your Just jealous you don’t have a girlfriend” Adam retorted.

Adam stepped out of his dorm’s bathroom, wiping off the remnants of water that sat on his arms. His normally fluffy blonde hair was dark and damp. His t-shirt hung loosely on his frame.

Adam tosses his towel into the laundry basket and approached your place on his bed. He flopped down dramatically, sighing loudly.

An hour and a half beforehand, he had been on the ice. His legs were aching.

“I think I pulled a muscle or something,” he hissed, rubbing his calf. You hummed, reaching to run your fingers through his hair. He scooted closer, leaning into your touch.

“You did good, though,” you cooed, pressing a kiss to his lips. He squeezed your hand.

“What’s this for?” He asked. You shrugged.

“Just wanted to kiss you.”

Adam smiled, face flushing. He kissed you this time.

Kissing Adam was one of the best things you had the privilege of doing. His kisses were always gentle, and he always watched his hands. They weren’t gross or sloppy.

“Hey, Adam do you want to-”

The door opened abruptly to Guy standing in the doorway. Guy became Adam’s roommate after the JV-Varsity game.

Adam jumped slightly before dropping his head down and sighing. The Ducks always came and went into Adam’s room, always needing something. Athletic tape, an invitation acceptance…Adam just kept his door unlocked whenever he was inside.

“Sorry, were we interrupting…something?” Ken’s voice came from behind Guy. Adam’s hands left their places on your hip and in your hair so he could turn around. His face was bright red.

This fic gives a lot of fun ideas in the first chapter of how the Ducks act when drunk!

Anyway, on to the answer!

Now, I've seen a few people who write Dean as the one who gets the Ducks into drinking. However, that seems too obvious, so I'm gonna say Goldberg is the one.

I say this because Goldberg's parents own a restaurant. He works at that restaurant and probably gets stuff for free. So, I could totally see him asking his mom if he could take some food for a party and sneaking out some alcohol.

Anyway, the next part! Their drunk personalities!

Dean: I'm gonna start with Dean cause I can. He is the fun drunk. He likes to party and have fun. So, drunk him is just that too an extremely. He is the drunk who buys drinks for all and yells how he loves all his friends. He also becomes the ultimate hype man and wingman for his friends.

Fulton: I could see Fulton having levels like Amy from Brooklyn 99. Like after his first drink, he isn't affected. By the second, he will laugh at anything. By the third, he is the loud drunk. By the fourth drink, which is his cap currently, he is the emotional drunk. At 4 drinks, he has cried about how much he loves his friends or his girlfriend.

Adam: Adam doesn't get drunk easily. However, when he does get drunk, he is the promiscuious drunk. Thankfully, the first time he got drunk, he was with someone. However, his partner had to get him somewhere private fast because he wouldn't stop making sexual comments.

Averman: Now, because Averman is generally a fun and jokey guy, normally I could see him being the sad drunk. Not in the same way Fulton is. He's more. "The world is on fire, and we're all gonna die someday." drunk. Like he will bring the mood down fast. He does take about 5 drinks to get drunk, though. So he knows when to stop and will sometimes choose to be the designated driver.

Julie: Julie is the thief drunk. If she isn't monitored, she will steal things. This can range between silverware to at one point a fish. It was alive and in a ziplock. She almost never remembers taking these until she finds the items the next day.

Luis: Luis is the self-conscious drunk. He loses all the confidence he has. The first time he got wasted, he sat on the floor with Kenny and talked about how his confidence is fake and he's worried some people only like him for his looks. It makes you want to give him a hug.

Kenny: Kenny is the daredevil/trash talker drunk. He loses all the doubt, so he will jump off tables, sing in front of crowds, and smacktalk almost all his friends. He is small and unstoppable because he can often escape without people noticing. Kenny is a fucking menace.

Connie: Connie hardly ever gets drunk. However, the one time she did, she spent the whole time talking about Guy. Like we know, Guy gushes about Connie and how amazing she is. While that's how Connie is with Guy when she's drunk. Like I can imagine her going "Julie, look at the man, i love that man, he is amazing." Then she starts to cry.

Guy: Guy is the drunk that doesn't appear drunk. Like his personality doesn't appear to change. However, he does show the aftermath of being drunk. However, unless you knew him really well, you couldn't tell. Like you can only tell because he will start shortening everyone's name. That's it.

Charlie: Charlie is the dramatic drunk. Like everything to drunk, Charlie is a big deal. Like you think normal Charlie is dramatic. He's nothing compared to drunk Charlie. One time, when Charlie got drunk, he thought Jesse hated him because he didn't laugh right away at his joke. It's a mess.

Goldberg is the wandering drunk. Like unless he is watched, he will wander off. He does tend to fall into another group if they're at a party. However, it becomes a hazard if he is outside. He will walk into the street unless his is held on to.

Jesse: Jesse is the drunk who finds everything funny. He will laugh at anything even if it isn't funny. He will even get others to laugh because "come on man that was hilarious." It never is.

Russ: Russ is the spacey drunk. He will lose track of conversations before they even start. He will also argue with people that he knows what they are talking about. Yes, he completely heard you and understands. Stop asking!

Dwayne: Dwayne is the profound drunk. He is a true drunk philosopher. Weirdly, most of his observations make sense to the non-drunk mind. One of his greatest hits was "Why do humans feel like we control the world? We are nothing without the food we eat and the water we eat." It almost cause Averman to have an existential crisis.

After the game Adam went to the locker room and quickly got changed and grabbed his bag before Charlie could bother home about the girl again.

“ummm.. where is he going” Connie asked watching as Adam basically ran out of the room. “I don’t know- Probably has something to do with that girl he was staring at during the game” Charlie replied while sitting down and taking off his pads. “WAIT WHAT GIRL?” The team all asked at once. “There was a girl in the crowd… Y/H/C, Y/E/C, Y/S/C- he couldn’t take his eyes off of her the entire time he was off the ice.” Charlie said explaining the conversation the two boys had, had when they where both off the ice.

“Now that you mentioned it I’ve been seeing that girl at a lot of our games.” Guy said while zipping up his bag. “You guys don’t think cake eater has a secret girlfriend?” Jesse said it took two seconds before the whole locker room was filled with laughter.

••• “Hey there you are I was waiting for you” you said he just hummed in response while throwing his arm over you shoulders pulling you into him as you started to walk. “Is everything ok” you add on seeing his expression.

“yeah… I’ve been thinking maybe it’s time I told the team. I mean we’ve been dating for two years and they still haven’t found out” he said before pressing a kiss to your temple.

“ok” you responded causing him to look at you confused. “What- you’re the one who asked is I wanted to tell the team” you said while resting your head on his shoulder and continued to walk.

••• It was the next day and the team had the day off but had decided to go to the frozen lake to just skate around but when they arrived they saw Adam teaching a girl to skate who Charlie said was the girl he saw in the crowd.

•you and Adam’s POV• “I thought you said that you knew how to skate he said holding onto your arms while skating backwards and pulling you alone.

“noooo…. I said that I had skated before and it hurt” you said try to balance yourself. Adam looked over your shoulder to see the rest of the team tying their skates.

“wait here, I’ll be right back” he said before letting go of your arms and skating to his friends leaving you in the middle of the frozen lake. “Wha- Adam!” You said but he was already to far away.

“hey guys what are you doing here?” He asked not knowing that they would be here today. “Just came to skate maybe play a game of hockey. So… Adam who’s that girl over there?” Charlie said looking at you. Who had tried to skate to the edge but had fallen and was now just sitting with your legs crossed waiting for Adam to return.

“Shit YN!” Adam said remembering that you can’t skate. Adam skated back out to you and helped you up before helping you skate back to the edge of the lake.

“Everyone this is YN my girlfriend” Adam said holding your hand.

“I KNEW IT!” Connie and Julie yelled together and held out their hands as the rest of the group handed over money.

“Wait what- you guys had a bet based off what?” Adam asked looking at the group “based off of that girl who was always at our games, and wether or not you two where a thing or not” guy explained.

“wait… so you guys don’t think I was able to get a girlfriend?” Adam asked mildly offended. “Sorry cake eater” Charlie said giving Julie the money.

Maybe it was the way they looked when skating. Maybe it was the jersey. Maybe it was their smile. God, maybe it was just everything.

He couldn’t stop staring at them. He wouldn’t stop silently pleading for them to look at him the same. Just for second, it’d be enough.

Adam watched as they skated, perfect balance on their skates, and chatted happily with Connie and Guy. He couldn’t help but be jealous of the two. If anyone would make it all the way, it’d be them.

“Just put us all out of our misery and admit it already,” Goldberg sighed from behind him. Adam turned around, cocking an eyebrow.

“Admit what?” Goldberg scoffed, eyes rolling in an annoyance Adam didn’t quite understand.

“That you’re in love.”

Adam’s face contorted into an expression that couldn’t really be described-maybe it was puzzled, maybe it was offended.

Adam snorted, nose scrunching.

“I’m not in love with [name].”

“Who said anything about them? I could have been talking about Connie, or even Guy.”

Adam paused for a minute, feeling the heat creep down his neck. It taunted him.

“Goldberg,” he started, “shut up.”

There was a moment of silence, and Adam watched as they skated towards him. Closer and closer they got, but never close enough.

“You’re in denial,” Greg teased in a sing-song voice.

“I am not in denial.”

“Adam, hey,” they greeted him cheerfully. “Connie, Guy, and I are going to grab some food. Wanna come?”

Adam chuckled, rushing to untie his skates.

“Yeah!” He was overly enthusiastic about it, really. He knew they probably just didn’t want to third wheel, but he didn’t care.

Averman walked over, the red-head watching the way Adam eyed them. He cracked a smile, snorts of laughter being almost impossible to choke down.

“Denial is a river in Egypt, my friend,” he sighed, patting Adam on the shoulder.

Adam just rolled his eyes.

He was most definitely in denial.
