Nova was continuing to pass around the copious flowers. Nova couldn't help but notice the brunette sitting by herself. Maybe no one approached her. But she looked so cool from here. Nova adjusted her basket and dress before approaching the other. Nova shyly approached her holding out a white rose. "For you." Nova stammered with an awkward grin.

"hey..." she said upon seeing her sister's form from the corner of her eye. she had hid away for days after her traid abduction. hidden in her safe little bubble she'd created with kaidan. escaped was more like it. now that she was outside of that bubble she felt more on edge than she expected to. she did not know who knew what had happened, having been saved the same night. but she knew her father had been there so she was sure her sister knew by now. what she didn't know and was worried to find out, was how she was about to react. eve tucked the blanket around her as the wind picked up, and finally braced herself to look over at andrea. "wanna join me?"

“Remind me to never try bumble again,” she sighed, putting her phone face down onto the table. “I mean they like me, I like them back, and I say hi and they just unmatch - it’s ridiculous”

"So, which part of your family is Jesse from again? Keeping you Kenner wolves all organized is about as difficult as keeping track of all the different cousins my Dad has, or us Mikaelson kids. It was hard enough in our own time, but now there's people from the past thrown in there." Marshall mused as he sat atop the picnic table, wiggling his legs lightly and looking at the older woman as he picked at a plate of finger foods.

Klaus sighed as the Kenner complained to him; flipping through a page in the tome he was reading and glancing up at her. "Perhaps one of the wolves said something like a neanderthal and set her off?"

"oh, no, i'm fine. it's just the last party i went to, i turned into tinkerbelle, which was cool and all but, you know." a pause for a moment. "at least this time i'm not dressed up as anything and this place seems pretty relaxed."

❝ I'm sorry to hear that, because it doesn't sound like you thought it was cool at all. ❞ Alexandrea picked up on that much rather quickly as she spoke with a sincere apologeticness. Despite not being the best at dealing with people 100% of the time, you could call it an older sister's intuition or something, but she could tell that Gracie wasn't exactly as okay with the whole incident as she was trying to convince the other young woman of by downplaying her feelings on the matter. ❝ I'm glad that you're more comfortable at this event, though. I'd want you to feel at ease in the bayou considering it is like a second home to me with the amount of time I've spent here growing up. ❞

The brunette werewolf came off as firmly reassuring, but she was at a loss while struggling to come up with a sensitive response that'd be a beneficial and productive contribution to this conversation. ❝ I was working on halloween night so I missed the party, but if you don't mind me asking, how were you turned into tinkerbell? I mean, you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to, but you have to know that I'm always here for you if you need someone to talk to about anything. ❞ Andrea often worked the graveyard shift at the hospital on halloween nights because it was when the most interesting cases came in with people making stupid decisions when drunk on nights celebrating and hence, she was out of the loop of what exactly went down with her loved ones that eventful night.

"Tell me again why you forced me to attend this thing," Scout questioned. "And how the hell you even convinced me in the first place? I should be at home with Lucy. I don't get nearly enough time with her due to my work schedule."

Some of her future siblings she'd met, others were a mystery, but Hope was slowly working on that. Which led her to Andrea, under the auspice of the elopement party they were both attending. Carrying two flutes of champagne, she offered one to her erstwhile stepsister. "No idea if you're into champagne or not, but just in case."

She sipped her own for a moment, studying the other's features. She could see some of her mother, a little Jackson around the eyes. "They named you after mom, right?"

As time in the newly joint cities had passed, Jackson had grown as used as he could be to the idea of all that had happened. Meeting Andrea, getting adjusted to living in the future while she adjusted to living in the past, all of that. And meeting his children - that one was one of the most difficult, because it felt like cheating. Like looking into a destiny he wasn't supposed to know about yet. That door had been opened, though, Pandora's Box all but empty, and all he could do was live with it.

"Hey," he murmured, sidling up next to Andrea. "Having fun?" He had no idea whether she was a fan of parties, of weddings, of gatherings in general, but he looked forward to finding out.

     “can i help you ??” he had been in a rush to meet a client, having nearly forgotten his characteristic knapsack containing the vials to be sold and having completely forgone cologne. parker’s regretting life though, as he always does when someone catches whiff of his natural musk.

     vibrating phone breaks concentration and one glance to the caller id has nausea and upset curling beneath tightening chest ; he loves his father, he well and truly does, but the man has yet to not end their brief conversations with the same words that are all but embedded in mind like a script at this point. hojin has half a mind to let his phone go to voicemail, to delete the voicemail filled with critiques of his choice in major, of the childish imagination his father still thinks he succumbs to, but he already hears the way gruff voice spews the same things over and over into deaf ears - ‘why can’t you be like your cousins, who are business majors ? animating and making things for children will not get you anywhere in life. going to that studio will only lead to failure. it isn’t too late to change your major.’

     he swipes the answer button and lifts the phone to tuck between ear and shoulder, teeth sinking into lower lip and his father’s rambling tone jumping from cursory questions about his health, his classes, ‘that fine young man in his pictures’, and immediately into what hojin always loathes about these bi-weekly phone calls. despite struggling to tune out the same words, they’ve been burned into ears and among mind, searing smoke into thoughts until hojin questions whether what he’s doing is actually worth it, until it’s all he can do to wonder if what he’s doing is something his father’s ashamed of. his responses to his father’s words are hollow, thoughtless - a quiet hum here, a ‘no’ there, and ‘promise to call more often, dad’ over there and the phone call’s ended.

     phone slides from shoulder to land with a thud on wooden floor, hojin not even wincing at the dent or crack that might greet him. instead he stands from his desk and pads through the room, in search of a distraction in the form of cool touch and warm words ; he finds taehyun sat on the couch with a book in hand and, for a moment, he doesn’t want to be a bother. but then taehyun gives him a cursory look, a small frown, and waves him over and hojin allows himself to be pulled into taehyun’s gravitational pull, collapsing onto the couch at his side and dropping head onto shoulder. he feels a cheek rest against his head, feels cool fingers play with his own, and all he can get out is a mumbled, ‘my dad called’.

     those fingers still and suddenly the cheek is nuzzling against his head, a motion that would otherwise coax laughter from smiling lips if not for words buzzing ‘round mind. hojin allows himself the distraction of taehyun’s touch and presence, the unpleasant knot tangling in stomach loosening. however, something thorny and hot catches in his throat when he hears taehyun’s words, nearly muffled from the way his cheek is rubbing against hojin’s hair, but it’s clear as day and that something thorny loosens on a watery sigh ; he curls into taehyun’s presence, eyes blinking shut to combat the wetness he can feel misting behind his eyes. it’s something so small, a nearly mindless commentary, but it never fails to knock loose that discomfort and replace it with a reassurance ; he has to wonder if taehyun just knows exactly what to say to him to ease the knotted hurt in chest, and that thought sends warmth spreading through body.

     “love you, taehyunnie,” he murmurs quietly, words muffled by the thorned hurt still caught in throat, soothed over by the gentle touch of the other’s words. there’s a thank you somewhere in his tone, a smile that is more wet than dry on his features, but he knows taehyun understands him. for now he lets the other distract him, lets those words play on a loop in mind and drive disappointed words into the recesses to die among the shadows.

"hey, hun, what can i getcha?" the bar manager asked the patreon on the other side of the bar. unfortunately one of her bartenders called out for the night and the club was thriving as usual, which meant they couldn't afford to be down a body, which also meant that she was stepping in.

"Yes I am, they deserve to be happy and I'm causing a scene, Andrea, I just... I can't stop," she said, unsure of if it was due to the hormones or her just being absolutely heartbroken. She knew that he was angry, and had said rash things before, but he had never been so adamant on ending things as he had tonight. "I can't stand, my legs just aren't working, Andrea," she whispered

❝ Woah, hey, you're not ruining the wedding. ❞ Alexandrea lurched forward and crouched down to the eye level where Marlie had collapsed as she'd witnessed the breakdown on her way back in from walking her plus one out, reaching out a supportive grasp on either of the blonde's forearms to use as leverage to help support her in physically standing back up as she questioned with a visible confusion. ❝ What do you mean? Beckham called off the wedding? ❞

Her internal reaction was a gasp of surprise that wasn't outwardly audible to the young mother who was already visibly distressed, but Andrea did a figurative double take upon hearing it thanks to the heightened hybrid hearing inherited from her mother that was passed down to the Crescents as a result of the union ceremony conducted during the wedding all those years ago. ❝ Come on, lets go for a drive. 'Cause the floor of a party is no place for a pregnant woman to be and we could both use some privacy to have this conversation. ❞

"Don't look at me like that. I told you that I would think about your offer to teach me how to defend myself. Well, I did - and I'm here." Marshall shrugged his shoulders some. Truth be told, however, he wasn't certain about this. What if it went horribly wrong and he just ended up having Andrea hurt him instead? What if it wasn't enough to even defend himself when it mattered? He shook his head to clear his thoughts.
