This is my mini little pitch post for "Mistakenly Saving the Villain" because ever since I've read it, it won't leave my mind and there's woefully little fan content for it. I think it might actually be my favorite webnovel now.

It is completely translated with a total of 120 chapters (translation link here) (novelupdates for full list of tags) ***extremely important to pls look at the trigger warnings and tags before reading***

It's a xianxia danmei novel about a terminally ill medical student, Song Qingshi, who transmigrates into the immortal cultivator who is master of the Medicine King's Valley. His system issued mission is "to rescue the gentle, kind and tragic protagonist shou of the novel 'The Exceptional Furnace'". Naturally, he instantly fails this task by saving the "wrong" person.

Overall, the story is about healing, so enter the story with caution, since the first half of the novel is very painful and at times quite hard to read with how heavy the subject matter is. That being said, I really admire how the author made healing a long process that can't be fixed by love alone.

Also, both the mc and the ml are veryyyyy devoted to each other, and without spoiling too much... you might think while reading that there's no way that mc can match the ml's intensity but he can ;)

I think I would recommend this story to people who enjoyed tian guan ci fu, since the past is also extremely important in misvil and the story takes place on a similarly large scale (if not larger).

I feel like this story works best when you don't have any spoilers, because the twists in this story really elevate it from being just your run of the mill transmigration story to something more like an epic. I'm still surprised that the author had an explanation that wrapped up every single loose thread while also adding a whole new layer to the novel.

I'm alive! Technically. I'm dying of stress, but fortunately my passionate desire to ignore real life has translated to a BURST of new reading, mostly cnovels that have been on my list for like. Two years. I'm back in this pit, apparently?

One non-cnovel: A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland. It just came out last week, I am in LOVE with the anxiety writing and also both the leads, and it also just went down so smooth, I am about to go look up everything else this author has published.

Cnovel 1: Reborn With an Old Enemy on the Day of our Marriage. At the end of a decade+ long enemies to lovers arc, we tune in with our leads just as they decide to get married. On their way out of the country to do so, they reminisce about how they ruined each other's lives for so long, and should have just loved each other sooner. They fall asleep, wake up back in high school, and... do that! Very sweet, very funny, the relationship is a solid core of the story as they repair relationships with estranged family and get their friends aimed at better futures than the first time around. The stakes stay personal and intimate and it was so SOOTHING, and consistently just so funny

Cnovel 2: The Path of the Cannon Fodder's Counterattack. Kinda. Ehhhh. It was very good until the halfway point, but then the pacing got weird, it turned into a harem drama, and the emotional core was just JEALOUSY. But the early tension is fun, I just recommend peacing after the first sex scene. Two people transmigrated into the past - a boy and the girl he likes. She wants to be the emperor's consort. Their first life, after he gave everything to help her, she still poisoned him. The second time around, he is Done with her, he wants to see her struggle, but also he is undercover as a eunuch in the emperor's court, and is definitely.... not. And that's going to be an issue as the emperor takes an interest in him. The first half was fun, second half bummed me out, a lot like dreamer in the spring boudoir

Cnovel 3: Mistakenly Saving the Villain. I'm only 28/120 in so far, but having an INCREDIBLE time. A med student with ALS gets offered the chance to transmigrate into a xianxia doctor's body, and is instructed to save the protagonist from a terrible fate. He hasn't really read many of these novels and saves the wrong guy. Rather than saving an innocent white lotus from sex slavery, he saves a guy who's been stuck there for a decade. The crunch is DELICIOUS, the angst is very supported by the text, and I took notice of this because of the 'black belly' tag - it can be kind of hit or miss whether I like a book's take on it, but I'm so weak for stories where a character is soft for one (1) man, and a massive hazard to everyone else. And he deserves to do some murders. A lot of them. I support him. I haven't finished this yet, so I'm not sure how it ends, but it's very funny and intense and so refreshing as a dynamic (this is translated by chrysanthemum gardens, and their chapters aren't listed on NU these days, but just go to their site)

The more I read your posts the more I wonder what the fresh hell happened in the Bleach fandom lol.

I wasn't a part of it back then, but when I witnessed the collective breakdown from shippers in an ending, to the point of burning their books, I don't think I want to know...

Alright for a very, verrrry basic breakdown of what essentially happened:

Bleach starts, Ichigo meets Rukia

Early 2000's, boy meets girl in shounen and they're bickering, instantly shipped

First two arcs of Bleach focus on Ichigo and Rukia's relationship (henceforth referred to as IR)

Anime overhypes IR, downplays Orihime - Ichigo's actual love interest - and her relationship with Ichigo (the ship of which henceforth referred to as IH)

Anime makes Orihime more ditzy and air-headed + ditzy and air-headed female character in the 2000's + "potential" "love rival" of IR (Orihime is the sole love interest for Ichigo and thus there literally isn't a rivalry but you get the idea) = Orihime becomes extremely hated, consequently making IH extremely hated

Renji and Rukia's relationship (henceforth called RR, though it's less relevant in general) isn't necessarily downplayed by the anime so much as it is mostly ignored by IR because Obviously Rukia Just See Renji As A Friend (spoiler: no she doesn't)

As the manga continues passed the Soul Society arc (also known as the Rescue Rukia arc) written IR interactions drop significantly as their relationship remains as Extremely Close Friends (but like, actually)

Anime still pushes IR anyway through filler arcs + continual erasure of Orihime's moments, now with added IR implications in canon moments (i.e., Nel getting jealous of Rukia and thinking she's in a relationship with Ichigo during the beginning of the Arrancar arc - doesn't happen in the manga). IR shippers start clinging to non-canon material such as colorspreads and merch, character poems are misinterpreted to be about IR when they're not ("I wonder, can I keep up with it? The speed of the world, without you in it?" is often mistakenly said to be about Ichigo towards Rukia, I do believe it's actually about Zangetsu - this specific one happens later on, but you get the general idea), etc. etc.

Fade to Black movie drops, becomes known as "the IR movie" - then the mangaka is said to have said that Ichigo and Rukia were "more than friends, less than lovers" which somehow translates to them being lovers despite IR shippers' own wonky translation saying otherwise (this one genuinely confuses me to this day lmao)

Cycle continues

BOOM Lust Arc, Ichigo dies trying to protect Orihime and is then subsequently revived into a Hollow by her desperate pleas to save her combining with his want to protect her, only to become human again once he successfully kills what was threatening Orihime (in his mind)

Omega IH moment

IR shippers fuckin' hated it, makes the Lust Arc = Fail essay to justify why the Lust Arc actually totally definitely doesn't mean anything and IR will still totally happen

By this point they've believed IR is "basically confirmed" and they go back to hating on IH

Cycle continues, anime is still hyping up IR, though I do believe by this point they stopped downplaying Orihime/IH at least somewhat

Then we do a hard cut to the Quincy arc

Ichigo and Rukia barely interact. Are barely in the same panel. Or on the same page. Or even in the same location. Like, for the majority of the last arc.

IH moments skyrocket, as well as RR moments skyrocketing

Most notable moments for both: Renji thanking Ichigo for bring him and Rukia back together from the bottom of his heart; Ichigo bringing Orihime to fight alongside him against the last arc's main villain, something Ichigo had never done before with anyone else

IR shippers haaaaaate it, deny that anything that happens between IH and RR mean anything since IR is such a shoe-in for canon

Cut to the ending of Bleach, IH and RR are endgame because fuckin' duh

Cue infamous shit-fest from IR shippers

In essence, the breakdown that came from the ending came from a loooooooong history of IR shippers taking extensive, all-expenses-paid trips up and down The Nile about anything and everything that was slowly building up between IH and RR. They (and, to be clear, I mean "they" as in the specific IR shippers who acted like this, not all IR shippers) would also act pretty damn entitled too - they'd chase the mangaka Tite Kubo off of Twitter twice if I remember right, just cuz he wouldn't fuckin' lie and say that IR would be canon.

None of this being at all helped by the anime shitting all over Orihime's character at the crucial beginning episodes of Bleach, with them completely butchering her literal first appearance ever into something that quite literally portrays her as feeling the exact opposite feelings for Ichigo than the manga shows her feeling (and with Ichigo seeming annoyed with her presence, which is where you get the whole "Ichigo doesn't even like Orihime!" take from).

So ultimately the years of IR shippers feeling as confident as they did about IR becoming canon, shitting on IH both as a ship independent from the shippers as a "crackship" and as something that is stupid of anyone to ship and thus any shipper of IH inherently invites ridicule (of which they did a lot of), ignoring all of the signs that IR wasn't gonna happen to the point of taking words from the mangaka that outright stated even in their translation of his words they were not lovers and somehow twisting that to mean that they definitely are lover, taking any development Ichigo had as a character and making it somehow someway all about how he is nothing without Rukia and only Rukia because only Rukia ever helped him because romantic love is the only thing that could ever save Ichigo and Ichigo would totally abandon his still-living friends and family in the World of the Living to be Rukia's lieutenant (hmmm where has this theme cropped up before) - all of that culminated into the absolute STATE they fell into when it was revealed that all of their excuses for their shitty behavior meant even less than they already did because their ship didn't even become canon at the end of the day. You both had to be there and be glad that you weren't there lmao

It seems like fandom has decided on the following format when tagging characters which is:

First initial of the family name, first initial of the courtesy name, second initial of the courtesy name.

So I will use the shirt hand when tagging characters

The untamed as I understand it ( a constantly evolving guide):

The Untamed (Chinese live action drama): This does not have an English dub, but the subs are quite good. A few times I've questioned the translation choices, and they tend to show only the full name, not the honorific or diminutives actually being used, but overall I did not have trouble following the story with these.

This one is my favorite piece of media of all the adaptations I've seen so far, and I would recommend using it as a starting point. My biggest complaint would be there is not much info given about the magic system, but it's still easy to follow.

Mo Dao Zu Shi (Donghua - Chinese animation): only recently started watching it, so I can't say much at this point, but I will say that due to the extensive cast and the animation style, I am finding it hard to keep track of who is who.

The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation/ The Founder of Diabolism (light novel): this is the source material everything else is adapted from. It's technically called Mo Dao Zu Shi as well, but I chose to use the two most common translations to distinguish from the Donghua. I read this after watching the c-drama, and it did answer or elaborate on some questions I had from the show. I personally am not as much of a fan of this, mostly because it skirts the line of what I find to be acceptable consent - others experiences may differ. On the other hand, this does have an explicitly gay romance (explicit as in it is clearly a gay romance and it does have explicit content), so it does better at representation.

Other media: I believe there is also a radio drama and a mobile game, but I want list these until I have listened/played them

Chapter 15 - The Mystery of Tears

Song Qingshi had a bit of a sweet tooth.

Seeing that the weather was getting hotter and hotter, he dragged Yue Wuhuan into a riverside teashop selling iced desserts and ordered two large bowls of Sushan* and lotus drinks.

*T/N: 酥山 is a type of what we'd call ice cream that originated in the Tang Dynasty. It's a little more ice than cream)

"By the way," Song Qingshi recalled an anomaly in Yue Wuhuan's medical case and asked straightforwardly, "Your eyes don't shed tears. I checked your tear glands, but there wasn't any problem. What's going on? Is it congenital? "

Yue Wuhuan wasn't interested in sweet food, so as he picked at the ice cream for a while, he was taken aback when he heard the words. After thinking about it, he said: "It's not congenital. . . I also cried when I was younger but didn't like being seen, so I always hid and cried. Later, when I was sold into the manor, I found that crying out during those dirty acts would excite those people more. I didn’t want them to get what they wanted, so I learned not to cry. . . After holding them back long enough, you just stop crying."

Human emotions can be deprived, and there have been psychological experiments that violate human ethics to prove this point.

Yue Wuhuan was forcibly deprived of his ability to cry after being imprisoned in a cage through harsh control training and psychological suggestion.

Song Qingshi suddenly felt that the freezing treat in his hand was no longer sweet.

"It's not a bad thing. Tears aren't a necessity of life." Yue Wuhuan smiled indifferently and comforted him. "I'm satisfied that there's something in me that can't be controlled by the Acacia Seal, so Master doesn't need to care about it."

"How can you not care?" Song Qingshi gently opened his curtained gaze and looked at his beautiful eyes again. He said seriously, "It's human instinct to laugh when you're happy and cry when you're sad. Don't worry, I'll find a way to make you cry!"

After saying this, he realized that what he said was wrong. How could there be any reason to make others cry?

Song Qingshi shrank back into his seat in embarrassment and forced himself to save face: "It doesn't have to be sad. I also cry when I'm excited. . ."

"So, Master can cry when he's excited?" Yue Wuhuan remembered the scene of him crying emotionally under him in his dream, and a strange pleasure arose in his heart. He leaned slightly sideways to force out a clean breath, relying on the presence of his curtain of hair to isolate their line of sight. He didn't hide the longing in his eyes, licked his thirsty lips, and couldn't help teasing with a seductive voice, "I look forward to Master making Wuhuan cry. . ."

Seeing that he didn't totally crash and burn, Song Qingshi was relieved. He patted his chest and promised: "Leave it to me!"

He would go back and study psychotherapy properly!

Yue Wuhuan smiled happily for some reason.

Suddenly, the sound of joking cultivators came from the space, seemingly interspersed with words like Golden Phoenix Villa.

Song Qingshi immediately exited his divine thoughts and turned around.

Sitting in the next cubicle were two casual cultivators with basic foundational cultivation. One was a sword cultivator, and the other was a demon cultivator. Neither was ugly in appearance, but they spoke freely, discussing the recent events in the Immortal World:

"That mad Daoist and Golden Phoenix Manor are completely going at it with each other. A few days ago, the owner of Golden Phoenix Manor was severely injured."

"Thirty years ago, the mad Daoist's only son, Daoist Lie Yun Zhen, disappeared, and the treasure of his sect was lost. He offered a huge reward and pursued the murderer for many years. Finally, he found out that the Heart Guarding Terrace was in the hands of Lord Jinzhuang. He must seek justice no matter what."

"I didn't expect that the owner of Golden Phoenix Manor would also be a murderer and a treasure hunter."

"That's the Heart Guarding Terrace, the best cultivation weapon in the world. Who wouldn't be tempted?"

"The same goes for Lord Jinzhuang. It's not good to offend anyone, but to provoke that crazy Daoist, that protective lunatic. . ."

"Since Lord Jinzhuang refuses to admit that he killed Lie Yun, there's still something to talk about..."

". . ."

"Many acts of unrighteousness will lead to your own death." Song Qingshi hated Jin Feiren's behaviour. He secretly muttered a few comments about "garbage" and turned around and quietly told Yue Wuhuan, "If Golden Phoenix Manor comes to ask for medical treatment, just say I'm not here. We're closed, I'm gathering medicine, make up a better reason to send them away. Let the medicine servant steward come forward, don’t see those bastards. . ."

Yue Wuhuan responded obediently.

Song Qingshi couldn't help but ask: "Do you know about the Heart Guarding Terrace?"

"The matter of Master Lie Yun happened 30 years ago, and I only entered Golden Phoenix Manor 10 years ago." Yue Wuhuan explained with a smile, "Jin Feiren is naturally cautious. With the low status of the slave and the Acacia Seal controlling our words and actions, we are unable to access any hidden matters. . ."

It only took him a few years to discover the matter from scattered clues and guess the whereabouts of the Heart Guarding Terrace. Then, in a cryptic way, the Copper Fortune Immortal realized that Jin Feiren had also conceived a baby thirty years ago, and there was something fishy about the conceiving process. The Copper Fortune Immortal was a character who wanted money but not life. He openly flattered Jin Feiren but secretly had some personal grievances. After he found some evidence, he didn't show mercy to Golden Phoenix Manor and sold it to a crazy Daoist at a high price.

After confirming that Copper Fortune Immortal was investigating the Heart Guarding Terrace matter, he planned to die with confidence.

He even endured an extra two years of torture just to do this pleasurable thing.

Jin Feiren would never have imagined that a slave whose words and actions were involuntary could also viciously stab him, right?

However, the madman failed to kill the beast.

What a pity. . .

Yue Wuhuan suppressed the regret in his heart and secretly glanced at Song Qingshi, who was next to him, fearing that he would find out that he was malicious. He was good at calculating his true face, so he put on the gentle and kind sheepskin cloak again and continued to eat ice obediently.

The topic of the two casual cultivators next door began to change, and it actually shifted to Medicine King Valley:

"It's said that the Immortal Medicine King is the most pure-hearted and ascetic ancestor outside of Buddhism, but I didn't expect him to be a fool."

"The old house in Medicine King Valley is on fire, it's burning fast."

Song Qingshi looked at Yue Wuhuan suspiciously. He didn't remember there being a fire in Medicine King Valley.

Yue Wuhuan did not want these filthy words to touch his ears and got up to leave: "Master, I don't want to stay here."

Song Qingshi hesitated and got up to pay the bill.

But the sword cultivator said with a smile: "Who wouldn't know that Prince Wuhuan is so beautiful and charming that he has charmed the Immortal Medicine King into a lustful state?"

The demon cultivator also smiled evilly: "As long as you enter Golden Phoenix Manor, who hasn't played with that slut? The most beautiful thing is the one that has been played by Lord Jin. Immortal Song lives in seclusion, so he doesn't know about this. He must have taken this slut to do some forbidden things. I saw that Prince Wuhuan's bedside manner is unique. It can make men lose their souls. Immortal Song has never tasted these things, and he can't stop."

"Hahaha, I really want to see it with my own eyes. . ."

Song Qingshi's face turned blue when he heard that. He wished he hadn't left early. He looked at Yue Wuhuan cautiously, unable to guess his expression through his curtain of hair. After thinking about it, he felt that he couldn't run away, and he had to do something that strong men could do, so he rolled up the sleeves of his robes and went to give them a piece of his mind for Yue Wuhuan.

Yue Wuhuan couldn't hold back, so he could only let him go.

Song Qingshi walked up to the two of them with arrogance, suppressing the nerves from his social anxiety, and slammed on the table heavily, constantly controlling the cursing words in his heart.

The sword cultivator and the demon cultivator raised their heads and saw a little beauty in white clothes standing awkwardly in front of them, obviously very nervous but pretending to be calm. He looked at each of them, pink lips wanting to say something as if there were a thousand words wanting to come out.

What's happening here?

It's not that they think they're handsome, and he wants to offer himself as a pillow seat, right?

Song Qingshi stumbled and said: "I, I. . ." He found that he really didn't know how to swear, so what should he say to sound the most aggressive?

Most of the cultivators play with meat and vegetables and don't care much about men and women. The more the sword cultivator and the demon cultivator looked at him, the happier they felt. They felt that the beauty was so pure, so he hurriedly persuaded: "Don't worry, speak slowly, brother is waiting for you."

"Okay, no rush," Song Qingshi took a deep breath to calm his mood and asked with a straight face, "Do you know who I am?"

The sword cultivator smiled and wanted to touch his hand: "I don't know, dare I ask for this beauty's name?"

Song Qingshi grabbed his restless wrist and said loudly, "Medicine King Valley, Song Qingshi."

The sword cultivator's expression froze.

Song Qingshi's palms gradually tightened, and he said seriously, "I'm the idiot you just mentioned whose house was on fire."

The sword cultivator's wrist was crushed.

The demon cultivator realized something was wrong and turned around to run away.

Song Qingshi shot out several poison needles. and all kinds of strange rashes appeared on the two of them. The two men's bodies sprouted all kinds of weird rashes, painful and itchy. They sobbed and wanted to peel off the skin of their bodies. They wanted to scream, but an elixir was sent into their mouths, and their throats were hoarse, and they could no longer make a sound.

"Slander the Medicine King Valley, and you will be punished for seven days. Try and argue, and you'll be banned for ten years!"

After Song Qingshi made the verdict coldly, he left the two filthy wretches rolling all over the floor and returned to Yue Wuhuan's side. He felt manly and behaved very well and wanted to ask for praise.

Yue Wuhuan instantly realized those two men's unbearable thoughts toward Song Qingshi. It was intolerable. He lost control and grabbed the hand that Song Qingshi had used to touch the sword cultivator's wrist. He dragged him to the side of a well and scrubbed at it with disinfectant soap. "You do not touch that kind of dirty thing; it's not clean. . ."

Song Qingshi was washed, baffled.

Yue Wuhuan washed his hands for him and finally realized that he had lost his composure. He thought for a while, lifted the soapy rag, and showed a gentle smile: "Later, we're going to eat hand-held mutton from Tian Xiang Lou. Your hands have touched poison and touched people. It's safer to wash them off."

Song Qingshi understood in seconds.

It turned out that he had also infected Yue Wuhuan with the cleanliness fetish of a medical student.

This is not an exhaustive list. I also have read Yu Wu (under #human reads yuwu, but if you don’t want spoilers, I also have the spoiler tag #yuwu spoilers). However, I am currently reading through different translations of TGCF (postponed). After this, who knows? Any books that I liveblog will have a #human reads [title of book] tag, though I won’t have that for all of them.

Things you should know if you want to continue following:

I don’t take kindly to rudeness, but I’ll engage respectfully even if it is in disagreement as long as overall discussion is friendly/polite

I like the characters of all these books in their canon iterations. That means I love the stories’ heroes as heroes, villains as villains, and all canon characteristics in their proper places. I don’t begrudge people their fanon, but don’t try to force me to “see the light” on any villain in any of these books by treating it as canon. You will not find a villain stan here 😭 (I do complain about common fanon interpretations, though, so if that’s not for you, then no hard feelings.)

How about danmei recs for beginners?

I love this ask but it's complicated by two things:

1. Like any ask, my answer is going to be based on my specific preferences - i.e., if your taste is towards contemporary fluff, I am not your person; also everyone loves Meng Xi Shi novels except for me, etc etc.

2. Normally the n1 author recommended would be MXTX and her three novels are a great beginner choice (yes, even Scum Villain's Self Saving System; one need not be familiar with Chinese web novels t enjoy this, being a dedicated fanfic reader would do) because they are irresistibly addictive and have served as a great entry point for many, but all the fan translations have been taken down due to them being properly published by an official publisher; however only first volumes of each novel are currently out in English so there is no easily accessible complete translation out there atm.

However, moving on from these, here are some recs. All are complete either in full translation or a combination of full translation and edited machine translation which is very readable.

Sha Po Lang by Priest - Priest is a popular writer for a reason and this is by far my favorite. This is heavily plotty but set in an alternate history steampunk setting. If you like fantasy and history, it's easy to follow, not insanely long, and has a slow-burn, understated couple in a very Victorian way.

Those Years in Quest of Honor Mine by Man Man He Qi Duo - the politics is not too complicated or too dumb, and the main couple is amazing - if you do not love them both - so good, so damaged (one in much more showy way than the other but both are walking wounded), you have no heart. Once again, it's a fictional dynasty so no history knowledge is necessary.

The Dumb Husky and His White Cat Shizun (2ha) and Stains of Filth (Yuwu) by Meatbun Doesn't Eat Meat - honestly, Yuwu is probably a much better choice for a beginner, being shorter and less twisty and less gonzo but if I were ever to mention only one web novel to people, it would be 2ha - I have never read a web novel (and few of any other kind of novel) this tailored to me - so joyously gonzo, so emotionally searing, so luring you slowly into a delightfully picaresque adventure with a deeply hilarious cynical undertone and then whamming you hard and if you are like me, you find yourself crying, bawling really, going how did I get here? 2ha has a trigger warning list the size of its protagonist's equipment but it's so worth it. And so is Yuwu, a very different story with very different protagonists, but sharing 2ha's intensity and emotional heft. They have complicated narratives (especially 2ha, with its crisscrossing timelines) but nothing you can't manage if you've read fantasy novels.

Nan Chan by Tan Jiuqing - ahahaha this is being thrown off a deep end really. But sometimes that is what you need - this seemingly disjointed, deeply fantastical tale about a sentient fish and a human embodiment of a sword really is like diving into the Mariana's Trench but it gloriously pays off. And if you enjoy this, then you can def read most anything.

Mistakenly Saving the Villain by Feng Yu Nie - this is THE hurt/comfort fic of your dreams, trust me!

Golden Stage by Cai Wu Bin Bai - politics, power couple, a fast moving story. This is actually probably an easier entry point than Sha Po Lang (in some ways, it's a similar type of story) and I am ridiculously fond of it.

Wu Chang Jie by Shui Qian Cheng - once again, very mythology heavy, very long list of trigger warnings, but this is such an addictive, intense story and I love it so much, I cannot not rec it.

It's Not Easy Being a Master by Jin Xi Gu Nian - if you want to read disciple x his teacher story but can't get your hands on Scum Villain and 2ha looks too intimidating, this is a great choice. Like in the other two, disciple went evil and harmed the teacher in past timeline. Now, the teacher is being inhabited by a modern transmigrator who wants to avoid this fate; he doesn't know the disciple transmigrated too so it's gonna be hard. There are a lot of adventures, a good coherent plot and honestly a wonderfully functional OTP.

Spring Trees and Sunset Clouds by Wei Liang - this is a slow slice of life with slow healing (and some seriously dark underpinnings) and a truly good yet easy read.

How to Survive As a Villain by Yi Yi Yi Yi - a true delight about a modern person transmigrator into a book villain, who tries to survive since his original role is to torment and be killed by the protagonist. This throws the whole story delightfully off track.
