oh what am i in for? pshhhh nothing much just when mitski said
“you know id always been alone, until you taught me how to live for somebody. that love is like a star, it’s gone, we just see it shining. i’ll keep a leftover light burning, so you can keep looking up. isn’t that worth holding on to? i am yours no matter that love’s gone” and “i want someone to take this soul, i cant bear to keep it. i’d give it just to give.” and also “you wont hear me singing, you’re a cage without me. your pain is eased but you’ll never be free, for now i’m taken, the night has me” but also when she said “i don’t like my mind. i don’t like being left alone in a room with all its opinions about the things that i’ve done. so yeah, i blast music loud, and i work myself to the bone” then that time when she “i love me after you, king of all the land” and also “you believed me like a god, and i destroy you like i am. im sorry im the one you love, no one will ever love me like you again. so when you leave me i should die, i deserve it dont i?” but then especially “Moon tell me if i could send my heart up to you? so when i die, which i must do could it shine down here with you?” and ofc can’t forget “my baby here on earth showed me what my heart was worth, so when it comes to be my turn could you shine it down here for her” but also “now the world is mine alone with no one to share the memory” yeah that about sums it all up doc

Okay so the thing is. If I gave up on being pretty I wouldn’t know how to die. I should move to a brand new city and teach myself how to die.

mitski confidently talks about the struggles she faced in life in this album. she dared to incorporate unconventional methods of music making and ended up reaping the fruits of the risk she took, almost as if anything she touches is meant to turn into gold. her music maintains a memorable quality while it paints a raw snippet of mitski's full potential at the time, not being too overbearing but not being too shy. this album is a great soundtrack for the banality of daily life.
this is day 3 of the mitski advent calendar 2022, a series where i post mitski-related content every day of december leading up to christmas day.
treat yourself, and listen to the mitski song of the day:

Harsh Night
Leave me on the side of the road, pack up my bags and toss them right over, forget the scent of my clothes in your car, pry me out of the depths of your mind, breathe new life into our room we shared, I don't want to know of your new found joy, please be wary of my bare cold shoulders, for the night is harsh on me
~ mitski inspired me to write this short passage on the feeling of being replaced and on the verge of being forgotten
( constructive criticism is welcomed and much needed )

And I know I've kissed you before, but I didn't do it right. Can I try again, try again, try again? Try again, and again, and again. And again, and again, and again?

Lush loverz
Everyone should know by now that Mitski is THE queen of inde rock songs....if you don't goodbye. The queen's first album is Lush, published on January 31st, 2012. Mitski stated that her first song was 'Bag of bones'. This song is ineffable and a bit relatable. It's one of her songs that would make you surgically attach your airpods to your ears for the rest of you life and play a playlist with this song alone. If I had to rate this song it'll be an instant 10/10<33
Mitski at her very fist concert
-Lover girl!!
